A few tricks I'd suggest with Smugglers - build more thopters at the start and go recon the other players, Drisq lets you see their all of their locations and borders from the start and gives your thopters the speed to go take a look at them so you can install UWHQs quickly and get your economy rolling. And remember that they have no penalties for distance from main base when conquering villages and gain huge bonuses to pillaging, so you should try to grab pockets of the best territory all around the map (especially the polar sink, and villages that border other factions' spice fields where you can build Trafficking Stations), and leave nearby bad villages neutral so you can pillage them repeatedly for the rest of the game, instead of filling in a contiguous territory around your base. Your snipers and free companies have stealth, so you should raid and set up ambushes with them instead of always moving them with your scavengers and wreckers. Supply drop doesn't heal units anymore so instead of dropping it on units in combat you should use it to extend the walking range of your troops so you can capture distant villages. Try to always have Extraction Network ready so that you can pull your army out if you need it at home or if it's in danger of getting killed - your opponents should be afraid to move their troops out of their territory but you don't have to be. You can also sneak a stealth army deep into enemy territory, resupply them with Supply Drop, pillage a village or two while its owner's army is busy, and then pull them back with Extraction Network. Meanwhile at home your non-stealth army can go around pillaging neutral villages as soon as they go off cooldown.
@@clashwithclass I've been hoping I can get a spot in a game during a livestream, the last time I caught Turin's stream it started about 20 minutes before I had to leave for work. I've only played single-player, with lots of pausing to read and think, so I come up with a lot of ideas on how to play (I actually am working on writing a Steam guide for this game) but I'm not sure if I'd be able to keep up with an MP game without a lot more practice, especially playing Smugglers which gives you a ton of choices with settling wherever you want, Underworld HQs, etc. I rarely get a chance to sit and play for more than an hour at a time though, so it's tough to commit to playing a full MP game.
GG Turin! The poisoned reserves/sniper kite combo was very difficult to handle. It was a great showcase of some smuggler strengths and very frustrating to play against!
I like the upkeep building on their headquarters. A lot of buildings have a lot of upkeep, especially the big ones that can be built only one time. As far as the spice underworld is concerned, it gives you 2% on any territory, it doesnt have to be on spice territory. So you can spam spice + upkeep + whatever else good the enemy has and you can built an immense solari eco. Also the maintenance center in your own territories is really good to reduce upkeep, especially on manpower/research buildings that take a lot of upkeep.
I never comment on anything ever. But please more Dune( also because I ran out I watched my first Age of Empires match and now I’m hooked on that what the heck man)
Just wanted to say I've been loving and appreciating your videos on Spice Wars, Age of Empires and Company of Heroes. I don't play the genre myself but your enthusiasm and play is so much fun. Thank you.
Really enjoyed the commentary and how you explained your thought process especially helpful for a new player. I just bought the game and smuggler is my favourite faction.
The underworld building that increases resource production in the host village seems terrible to me. Doesn't it just help your opponent more than it does for you?
One day shall be as dangerous in Dune as I am in AoE, just this morning I realized villages give bonuses and how to assassinate. Strike me down and I shall grow more powerful than you ever imagined.
was interesting to watch you play, i didnt understand very much what was going on but it seemed pretty deep in strategy, like that gg ps.: first time watching dune spice wars game
I hadn't chance to play Dune yet, but couldn't you just planted this underground military building that gives Solari per dying unit in Harkonnen's lands and just profit of each rebellion?
I've always liked the Smugglers, in EA they were my second favorite faction after Corrino joined the party, but I was never that good at them. But now after seeing this and reading these comments I feel like they can actually be pretty strong.
Turin! Use your spicy feelings. Let the spice flow through you. Your spiciness has made you powerful. Now fulfill your destiny and claim the spice stores of Arrakis!
The underground building tooltips imply you aren't actually stealing resources. That instead your are just gaining them on top of what they gain. Am I understanding them incorrectly? I don't see their economy affected by it.

@@clashwithclass Honestly yeah, I've gotta see this fella in action.

Your breakdowns of everything you are doing is legendary. I love this game and you have given so much good advice.
Glad you enjoy it!

TOTALLY forgot about that!
The beauty of being 50+ years old is that I don't remember watching this match and can enjoy it all over again. 😊

Yes, be lured by the dark side
Quite the extensive AoE backlog too!

I must say, this game looks fun. Maybe I should try it too! Thanks, Turin!
Its fun i played Total War like Turin and this is a nice change, not buying Pharaoh so this will do for a while.

The Atreides Voice is rising and the Emperor is a jealous man.
You should record and post or stream everything you do online. I think we would watch it all.

Probably, yeah, great idea!

right now they're super strong lol, though I'm not good enough to take advantage of it yet
Nice I'm curious to other strategies my faction can do
GG. Everyone played well but the Smugglers have so many tools.
Love to watch Dune 4-player gameplay
'Put their taint on that, its not gonna be the action you want' .... Gross dude.
House Ecaz had some fun commentary in chat there. XD

Hello youtube
WE KILL without wArNiNg
Instead of cultures in this game. I'd say factions or organizations would be a good word to describe them. 🙃
