  • Why on earth use one of these today? Incident metering, and the fact that it's a lovely device and... what else are you going to do with it?

I have the Luna Pro version and use it regularly. I am a film camera user and some of my favorite cameras have no meter. The Luna Pro has a spot meter attachment that is easy to use and WAY less money than a dedicated spotmeter.

Any advice on how to get it serviced, please? It's a simple device but no one seems to want to clean and calibrate.

I have a Luna Six Pro (with accessory spot attachment) that has never had a battery in it.....Given to me in the mid 1970s and never used....Now I find out I cannot get batteries....Please tell me where the 'adapter' for a modern battery is available.....Thanks,......John (west coast, Can.)

Quite expensive - www.smallbattery.company.org.uk/sbc_px14_adapter.htm - it also reduces voltage to the correct level.

You DO NOT NEED adapters, these only allow the use of hearing aid batteries, which are soon exhausted! There is a good alternative for the original batteries and those are Weincell. These last one year.

@@Foxglove963 Yes, but don't they have a different voltage? The new batteries are 1.5V and the older, the original ones have only 1.35V. From my understanding the different V can affect the readings of the light meter.

Hi Anton, nice video but just one point, the white diffuser is not an incidence cone. It is not any kind of cone. You are not the first person and probably not going to be the last to make this error. I have many time heard people refer to them as an invercone. Gossen in their book on exposure metering refer to is simply as the diffuser. In the Lunasix instructions it is referred to as the spherical diffuser. In the Starlite meter instructions it is referred to a spherical dome or just a dome or flat dome when retracted. On certain Sekonic meters they refer to it as a LUMISPHERE. The cone concept comes from Western meters where they had this rather odd shaped diffuser called and invercone. That said, I did enjoy the video and these are really very nice meters. In my view Gossen used to make, without question, the very best meters for photography.

I once had a Viceroy meter that was very similar to that, was probably cheaper than the Gossen in its day.
