From someone who uses a Mac sometimes I wish I had a Windows computer instead. Macs are pretty user friendly, but with enhanced usability comes a decrease in functionality which makes it harder to do more interesting things unless you have advanced knowledge of the intricacies of the Mac OS.
I think it depends a lot from a music to another. For instance, with FEZ soundtracks (a videogame) this settings works nice : Colour : Sunset (not so much important) Scale : dBV (very important, you'll see nothing with the others settings) - Gain property set to -9.5dB Window : 1024 - 93.75% Bins : All Bins - Log

@9000pivot lol, I, myself for the heavy work use a custom built PC and It works for my games and 3D stuff but when I just want to make work assignments or entertainment I just use my mac. It all depends on your needs

@Timmieisblack Because I use Final Cut Pro. It's only available for OS X. Just face it, nearly all professional production companies use Macs. I need to use Final Cut to get into the field that I'm going to be most likely going in to. Also, the application called LiveType that comes with Final Cut is an extremely awesome application. I'm not against using PCs, I've clearly stated that I will likely build my own computer for gaming in the future, but for now, I don't need/want one.
@Drivingkyle "Downloads have reached the max" for SoundCloud. The solution? If you haven't already downloaded audacity, do it now. Make sure Audacity is recording your computer's microphone, "Stereo Mix". Hit record, switch windows to SoundCloud, play the sound, and hit stop in Audacity when it's finished recording. Also use Audacity to delete the silence at the beginning and ending of the recording. Go to "File", "Export" to save the sound clip as a .wav file. Then open with Sonic Visualizer.
Aww. I thought you'd be a bit more clever here, gigafide. I went ahead and recorded the first 7 seconds of the video and importing it into Sonic Visualizer, only to find your two logos. That could have been a real nice secret.
Why do PC'ers have to hate so much. I was a PC person from the mid 80's till '09, it took awhile to see the light. The light of the glowing Apple on the back of the Mac Pro, I sold all my PC's and I'm completely Mac now. I'm always helping family and friends fix their PC's so I'm staying up to date on Windblows. But I don't go around bashing them, I just realize everyone has different taste, and some folks just like the extra grief and hassles of Windows, but I don't knock them for it. Peace!

This is akin to audio watermarking, where an inaudible (series of) tone(s) is imbedded into an audio file. If you make music and post it on the web, you should already be doing this for copyright protection.

tinkernut , it says embedding is disabled on this video (and most of your other videos,that i clicked on ) yet they are posted on your website ,so you might want to fix that because everytime i click on a video it says embedding has been disabled just a little tip for you
I would just go on a simple tool like MS Paint, and go to the text tool. If you wanted your text to say "Hello", type hello. So you are encrypting an image, but the image is really just a typed out message.
Also text messages tend to corrupt more easily and are then hard to decode. A picture on the other hand too *BUT* people have kinda built in error correction and know what the image has to represent. Look at the video where he converts a perfect tinkernut logo image to a sound. But when converted back it is slightly corrupted!
thanks for the comments, guys, but I actually meant real text :P something that you could see in notepad for example. not text in a picture a perfect example of what I'm trying to do is a credit card. the magnetic strip on it (just as the good ol' cassette tapes) has sound waves that are converted to text and numbers when you slide them on the device that does all of this conversion
Mistory Minecraft not at all. Don't know why I would. I want to emulate a credit card, however. Meaning I would have a card, put a magnetic strip on it (with sound waves on it) and would like the computer to recognize the sound waves and translate them to text or audio so that I could import it to a program that understands this code, and previews an image with the same name as the text imported. It's for a game. Nothing serious.

Snow Leopard $30. Windows 7 $120. You pay the initial price of a Mac and then you get a plethora of software included (iLife), and future upgrades are ridiculously cheap. I use Macs, because they have the best software available for content creators like Final Cut. If I was going to be gaming, I'd go Windows all of the way. I'd definitely build my own machine (I have before, and I most likely will again).
@catchatyou Also PC have the latest workstation graphic cards available like the Quadro 6000. This would improve video editing, software rendering and even simple Photoshop. At a far better rate then the mac running there latest workstation graphic cards. This is another reason why professionals choose pc over macs. Your always limited with macs.

You made a mistake...you're supposed to use a logarithmic spectrogram, and not a linear one. That's why the picture looks squashed at the bottom.
