A dessert is really important in disaster/survival scenario if you can scrounge it up. The morale boost of some sweets is huge, as long as you're not pretending you're not starving.
I'm from Ukraine and I keep bunch of Snickers as part of my emergency pack, they're good to get that calories quickly. Especially when feeling cold outside or in a bomb-shelter, hot tea from thermos and chocolate bar is perfect. Also my buddy told story how they survived couple a days on a war, in abandoned farm being cut from supply, only having huge pack of candies lol.
Giving the body calories and a bit of sugar basically gives it carbs to stave off the cold and some energy. So it'd make sense you can be fuller from candies, but you won't get the nutrition for long term.

One good thing to add with this bucket is a water filter set that you can operate with a hand pump... that way you can have clean water to actually cook the food with, since some people may not have space to actually store water long term. So, being able to filter water from most sources would be convenient. Other things, which are a bit more obvious is keeping a portable propane stove, and several cans of propane around.
Hmmm, given that bottled water has a shelf life of 2 years I wonder if the water filter you mentioned would filter out the plastic. If it did then the water might have an indefinite shelf life!

You can make it for a week with no electricity, especially if when they started giving the hurricane watches, you popped a some seeds in the sprouter and some in a microgreen planter for some freshness. Cilantro, basil and parsley microgreens have the flavor but you can have sprouts in 3 - 4 days, microgreens in 10ish. I'm from Buffalo and I've considered how long we could last in the house without groceries. There's always at least a week's worth of good food in our basement, maybe 2 with just the stuff we buy in bulk to save on cost (not for survivalist reasons). For protein we keep Spam for things like Spam Musubi, but it of course is a survivalist food. Our freezer is stocked as well, and I guess in a snowstorm even if we lost power it wouldn't be that hard to keep frozen food frozen. Funnily enough during our last big storm that made headlines, the corner grocer on my block stayed open since the family who runs it live upstairs, so we only ever ran out of fresh produce (they obviously couldn't get any deliveries in).
If your garage isn't temp controlled, you might want to bring them inside to make sure they actually stay good. Fluctuating temps aren't good even for freeze dried food.
You need one pot uses a dozen :D BTW you could of use that powder milk to make the pudding, it would taste much better :)

Having some canned meats, canned vegetables and snacks like hard candies and such to round out this kit would be a good idea.. Don't forget the TP and the storage for many gallons of water..
Add some freeze dried cooked meats and veg to the container. Use the dessicant packs to keep moisture out, and vacuum seal mylar bags. Then you can just add to any of the meals with a little more water. Almost no loss in quality, texture, or nutritional value. Also, with a freeze dryer, you can do your own meal prep for emergencies with favorite recipes ahead of time. And make some for friends, family, and neighbors.
EOTW!! Cracked me up. Thanks for a great and entertaining video. Truth be told in the EOTW situation you would have people licking the bowls clean and eating granola crumbs off of the ground. That bucket is a fairly good item to have. Then add a vacuum packed 25 year shelf life guaranteed legacy seeds for vegetables. Several of those.!
It's you! I remember you from the video of the 3 in 1 breakfast machine that you were in with that other lady! What a nice surprise! We've just started to get Costco here in the U.K. and this looks like an amazing kit. 👍 Love your accent! 😊
Hear me out... where where this kit when i was in college. As someone who barely know how to food plan for ingredients, this bucket food kit is really good for students. Maybe it will take awhile for a single person to consume it finish but if you are staying with a group of friends that have minimal cooking skills, we will boil these packet and eat it as daily meals (or until we figure out how to cook better). With a group of friends, this will be a simple & easy to manage meal plans 😂❤
During an emergency, you probably want to ration the food and not eat three meals a day and a lot of times those type of meals are packed with higher calorie, so you don't need three large meals or three meals. A lot of Americans are well fed so we could actually go a couple days without food. Some people like myself that are larger could go much longer without food, but that's why some people say you need tons of those and in reality you don't. You may want to only eat one meal a day to preserve your food
หลายเดือนก่อน
During an emergency there are several scenarios that could be what you are doing on a short term and long term.. You might find yourself to be very active and burning thousands of calories a day in which case you might go a few days without eating much but in the long run you will have to eat a lot or get sick.. The flip side is you are hunkered down somewhere and doing nothing so boredom will induce you to eat which is very bad.. For these prepackaged kits I would suggest having a box of quart sized freezer storage bags handy if you don't have several people to feed so you can place the excess cooked food into to eat later.. We have fast meals and ones that need time to cook, our supply was cobbled together and we rotate through it so as to keep things fresh.. The means to cook the stuff will be needed, Vitamins, TP and a way to store large amounts of water to prep these dry meals is a must have..
Just get a container with a bug resistance lid. Put into the container one 25 pound bag of white rice AND one 20/25 pound bag of pinto beans. That provides not only carbohydrates, but the two paired together provide a balanced protein profile to the point where meat is not needed. Occasionally, Costco may sell the SOna Masoori rice that comes in 20 pound vacuum sealed packages. For storage, that is the best approach as it could last 100 years or more that way because without air, there will be no weevils or other pests. It also provides an immediate easy inspection because as long as you see the vacuum is maintained, the food is secure.
1:47 no, "this" is not how it keeps for 25 years. "this" is just a dessacant that keeps the items dry (which helps maintain the help life but definitely isn't the cause for it). It's not a preservative packet.
@@iareanoob2277for real though. for a channel this big, the content "talent" or host not knowing silica gel is kinda funny. Silica gel is like the most common thing exist in the market.

I thought it will be MREs, but they are basically dehydrated foods. Looks like you need to stock up bottled water and fuel for cooking as well for this kit to be useful.
If you're going to stock up on these, also stock up on ways to make a fire, and ways to decontaminate water for cooking and drinking. Also stock up on a lot of cholula or something because these taste as good as boiled cardboard lol

Please review all the other brands of Survival buckets, Patriot, Ready Hour, Etc. I loved your review of this Costco bucket, but that's a lot of soups!! LOL no Pancakes?
So nice of you to do this for us
This is awesome. I have a bunch of these I got from Costco pre covid. Always wonder how they tasted and how to make them.
Thank you for the review and taste testing...
My brother bought a few of these I was curious if they were any good thank you for the great review 😊
Just remember that a lot of these are inedible without water and a heat source. So stockpile a few 5 gallon jugs of clean water and have camp stove on hand if you are going to use this, or find a different meal kit.
Nothing about that makes them inedible without water. Smash into a powder, open bag, and consume with enthusiasm for you have survived another day in the apocalypse!
I always have a stock pile of grains and beans. Not exciting, but works in a pinch. Also for $80 you can get much more than 150 servings.
I just bought that bucket a few weeks ago. Thanks for the taste testing.
Great review, very informative.
I have 4 of those in the garage, waiting. Now I know. Thanks for the post!
If your garage isn't temp controlled, you might want to bring them inside to make sure they actually stay good. Fluctuating temps aren't good even for freeze dried food.
Roscoe cracks me up!!!! 😂😂
Thanks we picked a bucket up a week ago and just saw this. Glad it's decent
All of these looked so good
Living in Houston where we could have outages for weeks at a time (after hurricanes) I would buy it for sure
Great video. Do more emergency kits
This was a great idea for a video, thank you!
And make some for friends, family, and neighbors.
lol I love that you brought in your friend to try the milk 😂
Love your style. Always!
Thank you!
What a great review. Thank you !
They also sell Mountain House at times! You should unbox that big Costco collection.
I loved when you started half-humming half singing “It’s the end of the world as we know it…” 🤣
I love your recipes and ideas. I just recently made the Crumbl cookies on my channel. Thanks for the idea Nicole. ❤❤❤
It also provides an immediate easy inspection because as long as you see the vacuum is maintained, the food is secure.
you definitely need to try the mountain house box.
1:47 no, "this" is not how it keeps for 25 years. "this" is just a dessacant that keeps the items dry (which helps maintain the help life but definitely isn't the cause for it). It's not a preservative packet.
Was a little confused when she called the silica pack preservatives 😂
@@iareanoob2277for real though. for a channel this big, the content "talent" or host not knowing silica gel is kinda funny. Silica gel is like the most common thing exist in the market.
I know a lot of these long term survival companies, the serving size differs by a lot! Some are reasonable w/a cup and a half to 2 cups whereas some can be low, like 1/3 -1/4 cup so.I always make sure to read that part depending on what bucket Im looking at hehe.
So many! I think it's practical. Plus easy to keep track since everything is probably dated the same.
3:50 "Love is like oatmeal... it sustains you." - Captain Raymond Holt
this was so entertaining lol
I thought it will be MREs, but they are basically dehydrated foods. Looks like you need to stock up bottled water and fuel for cooking as well for this kit to be useful.
finally someone did it hahaha love the video cheers !
Dwight shrute has one too
Considering how many hurricanes/rainstorms and forest fires happen in the USA every year - this is actually a very smart thing to have at home.
If you're going to stock up on these, also stock up on ways to make a fire, and ways to decontaminate water for cooking and drinking. Also stock up on a lot of cholula or something because these taste as good as boiled cardboard lol
Nice job , I been wondering about these
25 years is respectable
I like the vodka part.
I appreciate this video...answered alot of questions
I bought four buckets of these during COVID and still had them in storage. I don’t plan on using them and maybe open them in 20+ years.
Always good to have on hand! :) Great review!
Going to have a Christmas party and this will do the trick.
I'm cracking up 😂😂😂😂. 4patriots sells these also, i have one tub.
I’ll stick to canning soups etc for emergencies. That way I’d have my protein, too. The cost would probably be better, too.
She said for an emergency, not the end of the world!
@@laurieg2436 Emergencies can feel like the end of the world. It was just an expression. Because if it was the end of the world we wouldn’t need to eat now would we, LOL 😂🤣😜
@@simplydivine5053no we wouldn’t!!😂😂
Interesting. Good to know info.
The small packet is not preservatives. It is used to keep the humidity from affecting the food. The preservatives would be in in the food directly or in the cheese of the mac and cheese powder. But in a pinch, this would be good. Thanks for reviewing
As a diabetic, there is literally nothing I could eat. Way too many carbohydrates, not enough protein.
Womp womp more for us
True not safe for those on medical diets
@@noice2606 turns out apocalypses are bad for people with medical issues.
Though I guess they sort of are bad for everyone, it's just some people with medical issues are way worse off.
I cracked mine open after 10 years and was less than impressed (same company). Everything had a chemical taste, such that I wasn't sure if it would make me sick or not (none of it did, though).
They do put protein in their stuff, even though there's no meat.
For the milk and any of the cereals that have milk powder, key is to use ice-cold water.
I mean a decade is a long time, you can't expect things to last that long without changes.
@@speedy01247 I suppose, but this food is supposed to be shelf stable for 25 years.
I like that you did that.
And you figure most of them were winners so that's pretty good.
I guess you’ll have to buy another bucket now….thanks for showing us what’s in there 😊
And with Peak Fuel, Montain House and Freeze Dry meals you don’t have to cook them on the stove for 20-30 minutes using propane or gas you don’t have. Just add boiling water to the bag and let it sit, stir and put it on a plate or in a bowl
I used to buy 4 buckets everytime I went to Costco and I haven’t seen them there in awhile and I look every time I’m there
Honestly I’m about to just grab a couple to have on standby for easy quick meals 😂
