I like how they dressed JJ's character and made him act in kind of a flirty way in that part of the episode where he goes to the jail that the fans who have crushes on him would like without the show really objectifying him and making him go shirtless or something like a lot of TV shows like Riverdale do. I feel like sometimes it's forgotten that, even though it is often worse for women, that men are objectified in the media a lot too. So I appreciate the makers of the show respecting Rudy Pankow/JJ and not doing that to him well also giving the fans who like him a little extra something to fangirl over. 🙂👍🏻

Honestly it's refreshing to have the worried parents in this show annoying as they can get because usually the parents are somehow out of the picture (which I don't have any problem with cuz I'm used to it as a ya fantasy reader)
For me personally I do appreciate that the parents are there and showing concern because that side of things definitely is more realistic, so I agree with you there, but Kiara's parents specifically also just seem like selfish, stuck up, a-holes who are actually more concerned about Kiara being a kook like them than they really are about her safety and well being. Like it seems like they for the most part just hate her friends because they're poor, so because of that they think they must be criminals and low lives, which is absolutely ridiculous and a disgustingly privileged way for them to look at it.
Like I understand they got into little bits of trouble sometimes, but they didn't actually do anything really bad. Like John B is obviously being framed for the sheriff's murder and Kiara's Mom is acting like just because he's accused he's automatically guilty even though she's known him since he was little so she should know he's not the kind of person who would do that, but instead she's just ready to lay down blame on any of them however she can. And the way she and Kiara's dad were so gladly telling Kiara they were sending her away to boarding school even though they knew it would make her miserable was so disgustingly uncaring of them. They just infuriate me honestly.
@@rebecaa7482 I think the mom blew up and went a little too far… but it alway seemed to me that her parents didn’t overly have a problem with her hanging with the boys, until she started staying out all night and lying constantly… so from their perspective they are scared for their daughter and not knowing how to handle this sudden change in rebellious behavior… and since she’s not confiding with them about anything they can’t help but think it’s the boys influencing her bad decisions.
Look at Popes dad… last season he was in his sons face too…. But now is more supportive bc he is more aware of what is going on
@@sherrijean03 No, I think it was made pretty clear from the beginning Kiara's parents had some ridiculous issue with boys before the story of the show even starts. I they're just snobs and listening to Kiara enough in my opinion.
@@rebecaa7482 I agree they didn’t love her hanging with them… but honestly most moms are weirded out when their teenage daughter hangs with all boys… and I remember scenes from season 1 where the guys were openly hanging out at her parents restaurants and even fed… so all I was saying is that even though they didn’t love her friendship with the guys, they allowed it and were not forbidding her to hang with them… it wasn’t until she started lying and sneaking out all the time that they started acting extreme towards the friendship.
@@sherrijean03Yeah, that's fine, we're each entitled to our own opinion. And it is just a TV show. But I remember multiple times in season 1 where her parents said they didn't want Kiara hanging out with them anymore and the dad was very resistant to giving them food and letting them hangout at the restaurant. Her parents have just always been extreme jerks to them in my opinion.

Doesn’t kies mom understand that her daughter has been through a lot? Like even without knowing the whole truth, she’s lost her friends, had them come back, one of them gets arrested and is going to be on trial and may receive the death penalty. I understand the mom feels lied to and mistreated but she should be trying to help her daughter and maybe have some sympathy. :/
Same. The way Kiara's parents are acting is going past valid parental concern and just into them being snobby about the boys being from the other side of town and being different than them. Which is rich coming from Kiara's dad seeing as he grew up on the cut. Both of Kiara's parents just really don't have their priorities straight at all and it infuriates me. 😒
@@rebecaa7482 agreed. It gets me so mad when people call Kie a brat. People forget shes 16 and she’s just trying her best to make sure her friends are ok.
@@caitlincaporal Yeah, she's not trying to hurt her parents, but there's bigger things at stake (even life and death) than being a dutiful daughter right now. Her parents should realize she's ultimately a good kid and trust her and care about her feelings more than they are.

Its also depend of The degree of The crime (so here murder)

I think Kie’s mom throwing the clothes and kicking her out was too far BUTTTT I think the issue falls on both sides. Kie and her mom are both refusing to meet each other half way and neither are actually listening to each other. Obviously Kiara has been through a lot but her mom doesn’t know that without her even trying to explain. All her mom sees is Kiara leaving whenever she wants for days on end and not calling her ever and the people she’s hanging out with ending up “dead”, in jail, or part of a bigger crime so I think any parent would be cautious. They don’t trust her and she doesn’t trust them so it’s a lose lose situation anyway until one side gives a little

So I too find myself slightly annoyed with Kies parents…. But honestly from their perspective what are they to think? She stays out all hrs of the night and lies to them constantly! Her parents never seemed to mind Kie being friends with the Pogues until this started happening, and now they are going through the “how do we handle our teenage daughter/keep her safe??”Questions…. They tried to give her some allowances, but that didn’t work… so now wondering if tough love is the answer?!
Until you’re a parent you can’t possibly know the struggles of these kinds of decisions? Constantly asking yourself are you being too tough or not tough enough 🤷🏼♀️

To be fair Kiaras mum wasn’t over reacting like kiara was constantly disrespecting her, is out all the time getting in trouble and going missing for days at a time without calling her parents to let them know she’s safe and okay. Her mum wants the best for her but kiara doesn’t care. I love kiara but I would never bring up my mums past mistakes when she was younger and treat them like trash
I kind of understand both Kiara and her mom’s point of view. Both of them are completely unwilling to see it from the other person’s perspective. Kiara is being disrespectful to her parents, and they have every right to be worried about her. She should be checking in with them so they know she’s ok on a normal basis. But, Kiara has been friends with these boys forever, and her parents have never approved of her hanging out with them. John B, a boy she’s known for a very long time, is going through hell for something he didn’t do, and she wants to do what she can to help him. Her parents don’t seem to give a shit though. They seem to be unwilling to understand that Kiara doesn’t want the life that they envisioned for her, so they’re not compromising with her at all.

@@realericdraven21 yea no your right but I just think the mom has never truly tried to understand kie she just wants her to be something she’s not like kie was going thru a lot with her friends “dying” then coming back and then being prosecuted. So I never saw her mom fully try to understand why kie does what she does like if your is telling her friend didn’t kill someone and there like a murder running free you should try and do something if you want to keep her safe especially with ward and rafe just running free like they could have harmed kie or worse
