I don't build it voice by voice (?!) Check out this video to see how I make exercises to play/come up with this: th-cam.com/video/0eET3i2lwIM/w-d-xo.html
Great stuff, as usual, Jens. ... I probably use too many drop-two's -- at a relatively brisk tempo it can be difficult to make the changes as fluidly as I would like; too, you're right that it can sound a little bass-y. Old habits die hard, I guess.
Hi Jens ...Just joined your Patreon group...where do I find the pdf for this chord solos-the missing link lesson. BTW your contributions are improving all the time...great stuff!
Great lesson! Did you come up with the melody first and then harmonize under it, or just start grabbing triads/chordal shapes and figure out as you go?
I do both at the same time, but I really think mostly in melody when I am playing chords like this or when I am comping. If you want soem exercises you can check out this video to see how I make exercises to play/come up with this: th-cam.com/video/0eET3i2lwIM/w-d-xo.html
These lessons are always jammed packed with things i would like to know more about , you allude to CM-altered scale harmonization at 3:48 , can you point me to a lesson that covers scale harmonizations ?
Hopefully it get's better along the way. Maybe start by working on standards where you harmonize all the melody notes? I think that was how I started actually.
If you have a question or an idea for a video lesson then let me know in a comment! 🙂
Jens - your lessons are the best!
Thank you Steve! 🙂 Glad you like it!
Congratulations! Astonishing tips! Chords, inversions, voices...
Hello from Brazil!
Thank you PETERSON! 🙂 Glad you like it!
More of this chord soloing stuff for bebop would be great.
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind! 👍
Enlightening lesson; thank you for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out Jon! Glad you like it!
Thank you man !!! I appreciate you videos!!!
You're very welcome! I am glad you like it! 🙂
I like this....Would love to see you build each voice slowly......Thanks Jens

Well, Wes pretty much only used drop2 so it's not that big a disaster 🙂

Thank you Milton! I added you to the Facebook group and you can find it in there. I'll send you a message on Patreon as well.

Very Nice Lesson! Does this also have something to do with the so called "Blockchords"?
Keep on the good work!
Yes, block chords is just harmonizing all the notes in a solo line (so it sounds like blocks instead of a single note)
And thank you! :)

Thank you Tim! The lesson I am talking about is this one: th-cam.com/video/0eET3i2lwIM/w-d-xo.html
Do you have the link for the Patreon Facebook group ?
I posted it on Patreon a few times. I think you found it?
how to know the chord name by its scale
+lânchánđời nguyễn So if you have a scale, what chord does it imply?
Jens Larsen i have many scales but don't know the name,i found some correct name but it's not much.
+lânchánđời nguyễn Ok. If we take a scale like this one: G Ab B C D E F G
Then the chord on the G is:
G B D F Ab C E so G13b9
Is that what you mean?
i'm so bad at this
