So, if sans were to shoot Chara, it would deal the same amount of damage to a normal human child. So good luck dodging real bullets, if you even can. you cant even see it coming. Oh, also. Sans doesnt use his energy to magic since he's using an gun. Plus, he has coffee which will keep him up for even more amount of time.
My theory: Sudden Changes Sans used to be a normal sans. But he eventually got tired of seeing his friends and family being killed over, and over, and over again. So he decided to do research and put his engineering skills to use by developing machines to aid him in battle. This is why he has pistols and that overpowered flying mech during Phase-2. Also, the reason why Sans was holding coffee was that he was staying up, day and night, to develop these weapons before Frisk could restart. He was barely going to make it to Judgement Hall, so he had to go there in his bathrobes and coffee mug in hand. Hope you guys found my theory interesting. Have a nice day!
