I never watched dnc chair candidates debating before. I'm a politics nerd and I've missed watching a debate that's not painful to watch. Awesome questions and kudos to the candidates for showing up! This is making me excited for the future prospects.
Ben Winkler is already showing he is up to the task. He organized the background to communicate a message. I see Bernie Sanders and AOC, Jayapal, Casar Frost, more than I see Buttigeig in new media.
WIkler is good at self-promotion. And he did a good thing by fighting against gerrymandering. But he did a bad thing by kicking Marianne Williamson off the ballot to clear the way for his preferred candidate. The Democratic party loses moral authority when it appoints leaders who actively suppress democracy. Can we please get an actual new start here?
Ben Winkler is a good communicator but he lost his moral authority by kicking people off the Wisconsin primary ballot to clear the way for his chosen candidate.
@@djordan-bs6cd Understand. We need to look at the whole picture. Likely, we won't have it all. Who gets us closest to winning, winning the most progressive candidates and winning in the hard to win races?
Now why did this video get significantly less views than the rest of BTC’s channel? I think this video is very important for all to see. We’re watching a new renaissance of the Democratic Party.
This is like going to the gym. Everyone wants to go but no one really goes. The trump self called “mafia” works because they aim for the outsized gains of corruption which attracts people willing to lie to get people enraged and motivated. For me the only way to win is to have the best team and what you are doing here BTC is a great start. The power is in the TEAM! Thank you.
@oklol7799 agreed...these creators, BTC in particular, are finding ways to bring these debates, formal or not, into the mainstream. Its going to take a little bit to find the right delivery but this is an amazing first step!
Im sorry but is this a debate for the DNC chair or a conversation between two black women. I love the conversation but not in a debate format. I don't see how this woman do not see that she is partial with her questions and time. She contradicted her own rules of engagement.
She didn’t have anything to say about what she would do to get Democratic votes. She was just chatting about problems that we all know exist already. This was supposed to he about how to get the votes to win elections.
I agree with everything Ken said. And he showed some backbone. We need to have people who both talk and act just like him. Don't let the republican cowards bully us.
Really great debate but its wild to me that the second person opened telling everyone to keep it short and then gave 70% of her time to one person. Really would have loved to hear her ask Wikler and questions to hear what he had to say but oh well... Also queer people moved 14 points to the left (the largest move to the left of anyone). I would have loved to hear more about how they would ensure queer people can continue to feel best connected to the party.
I fast forwarded through it as soon as she started talking about driving through MS and HWY 40 it was. When people aren’t mindful of other people who are waiting their term it’s rude. But she had literally just said keep it 90 sec and that lady didn’t even pretend to care.
Got to see and hear the candidates this past Tuesday night in a similar forum with ActBlue. Seeing them again tonight allowed me to get to know them authentically, as well as their positions. @ I agree that his ability to fundraise and organize is impressive, but we lost Wisconsin this year! There is more to fighting back than just money and door knocking.
Marianne Williamson has got the IT factor! 🔥 I have become endeared to many of these candidates, especially Dr. Hathaway. However, Marianne has the most bold, transformative vision for our party. This role is not about policy making, but I am confident having Ms. Williamson as our leader will absolutely put us in the position to return our party back to the values of FDR! We will become the party of the people again and the bringers of a political revolution that will put power into their rightful hands. ✊🇺🇸
Even with "Independent" Media, Marianne still gets stiffed. Gimme a fucking break... the establishment is gonna push through the jackass that kept Marianne off the ballot.

Something important to add in the discussion about moderates and progressives: There’s a difference between genuine moderates who have an ideological reason to prefer certain policies and those who are merely puppets and mouthpieces for their donors. I am almost 80, and first registered to vote when one had to be 21. I decided I would be Independent. (My family was strongly Democratic, and of course I wanted to show I could "think for myself.") Dad pointed out that being registered Independent, I would have few to no choices in the primary elections. He also noted that there were plenty of choices available in the Democratic primary, and very few on the Republican slate. So, I registered as a Democrat. However, I have recently noticed fewer and fewer choices in the Democratic primary, and more on the Republican side. Some Republicans now hold office simply because no one ran against them! I may be old, but I am computer literate. I am appalled that Democrats don't have an _easily_ found webpage with explicit instructions about how to get into the race, and even maybe some "how to classes." (West Virginia doesn't have good broadband coverage, but computers are available for free at public libraries.) I am even more appalled that isn't super easy to locate a page with information on Democratic candidates. Can't win if we don't have candidates in the race! And I am not crazy about having zero information about them if they do run. I felt a bit of dread when newscasters began referring to the parties as "Red" and "Blue." (Communists are "Reds." I am glad Democrats didn't get assigned the Red label.) Reminds me of the Red and White sides in the War of the Roses, or Red and White sides in the Russian Empire. Blue against Gray, Red coats against Blue coats, etc. Any way to take some of the fighting spirit out of those terms?
Why was Faiz Shakir -- "an American Democratic political advisor. He serves as senior advisor to Bernie Sanders and executive director of the nonprofit media organization More Perfect Union.[2] Previously, he was campaign manager for Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign, an aide to Congressional leaders Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, an editor-in-chief of the ThinkProgress blog, and political director of the American Civil Liberties Union" -- not included in this debate?
I strongly agree with the candidate who identified gerrymandering as a key problem. I believe ALL voter suppression - voter role purges, intimidation at the polls, lying campaigns, gerrymandering, court challenges - require urgent attention and action. Because of these very successful Republican efforts at the state level, many Democratic voters are learning that their votes don't or can't count. Of course these voters are more likely to stay home. Some of the Republican court cases seem outrageous, and they know that some will fail, perhaps even many, but they are constantly prodding the judicial system to see what they can get away with. In this way, they also keep their opponents on the defensive. Democrats need to completely and honestly recognize what they are dealing with in the Republican Party - the dirtiest of dirty fighters. Stop waiting and hoping for them to be reasonable. They aren't going to be. Become proactive in the courts. Hiring effective attorneys and plenty of them would be a good way to spend money.
the DNC needs better messaging. We need it faster. We need it coordinated. And we need it unified across every platform there is. we also need to push more populist policies and focus on what is popular and put other, relatively less popular issues on the back burner (while not abandoning them)

I have a question for every DNC candidate. Are you satisfied with the democratic leaders in Washington today? If so, why and also if not, why? When I hear the answers to these questions I’ll know immediately if they’re the right person for the job. They can have as much time as they need to answer.
This *is* her lane. She's been an outspoken political activist for decades. Her encouragement was instrumental in getting Bernie Sanders to run for president. She started a women's action network to get more women involved in politics, and it was Bernie's speech at one of their events that first ignited his presidential campaign. She started a nonprofit that has to date given more than 18 million meals to homebound people with serious illnesses. She's had a 40-year career in helping people in crisis, and now she wants to use her proven techniques and strategies to help the DNC recover from its current struggles and, in turn, to use the DNC to help everyday people recover from theirs. She has written two books about politics, "Healing the Soul of America" and "A Politics of Love." She says the Democratic Party loses elections because they've strayed from their core mission of advocacy for working people, and because they've lost their personal connection with the public, which happens to be her strength. That's why she'd be perfect as DNC chair. And by the way she's not into crystals. That's just a meme to try and discredit her-don't fall for it. And one more thing: it's Williamson, not Williams.

Republicans get something out of voting, what do Democrats get? nothing. lmao Crying about Democracy isn't particularly helpful when you refuse to have primaries and block your most popular and best candidate - Bernie from running. You need to stop pretending he doesn't exist.
Im sorry but your black and southern strategy is a losing strategy. Why? Because there are only few white democrats in the south and the black population alone is not enough to overcome a MAGA south. Not to mention the black population is not voting its full potential either for various reasons.
Wikler needs to apologize to Marianne Williamson for kicking her off the ballot in Wisconsin. If he really wants to reform the party he should start with himself and atone for his past corruption. That would go a long way.

Who votes?!
Republicans apparently lol
Republicans get something out of voting, what do Democrats get? nothing. lmao
Crying about Democracy isn't particularly helpful when you refuse to have primaries and block your most popular and best candidate - Bernie from running. You need to stop pretending he doesn't exist.
Im sorry but your black and southern strategy is a losing strategy. Why? Because there are only few white democrats in the south and the black population alone is not enough to overcome a MAGA south. Not to mention the black population is not voting its full potential either for various reasons.
Yay, Ben Wikler!!! He is fantastic!
Wikler needs to apologize to Marianne Williamson for kicking her off the ballot in Wisconsin. If he really wants to reform the party he should start with himself and atone for his past corruption. That would go a long way.
