I designed and built my own CNC plasma cutter using a 3d printer, and its so easy you can do it to. download files here cults3d.com/en... my Cura profile drive.google.c...
That's really impressive, it's like the second industrial revolution that's in the home workshop. You could scan a headgasket and cut out a steel shim? Cut exhaust flanges to delete the cat converter? Turbo flanges. You'll be too busy.
How are you using an Ender for plasma? How does it trigger the cutter to start cutting and shutting it off? I'm losing my mind here, I've been jumping through all kinds of hoops, spending ungodly amounts of money for this and that, one thingy after another thingy, and here's a guy who rips an Ender apart for electronics like it's nothing!! lol Do you have a video on how you setup the electronics/Ender/ etc.? Thanks.
@@larsenmotorsport5459 Im thinking of building it from your files, but i want it to be with 2 motor on the Y axes is this possible with yours 3d files ?
is there any chance you can do another video as regards the z-axis trigger assembly? Thanks in anticipation. This may be the most straightforward video on building a CNC plasma cutter so far.
Will this be my excuse to buy a plasma cutter? I am into 3d printing and metal work. Tig welding in particular. A CNC plasma cutter looks like a nice winter project. It's nice to see, I don't have to over-think it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Your most welcome. I have also solved the issue thats caused by the steel warping which is running a floating head so it rolls over the steel as it wraps always keeping the same arc distance.
I built something simular from an laser engraver, but i m running in some EMF issues. What kind of plasma cutter are you using? It seems to be without pilot arc, is it right?
I would suggest that you not cut but have made or make the full-length cables because splicing has been shown to cause issues from time to time in these machines. Many people talk about splicing causing response issues and such on the Creality forums.
that's really good advice. I appreciate that. I haven't had any issues yet but about to build a bigger one and have brought extended cables so won't be a issue.
Hi you may have used shielded trigger cables but not sure from the video. If not run shielded cables where you can also add a torrid ring and loop the trigger wires around it a couple of times might help. Make sure shielded cables are earthed really well. Good luck
I haven't but that was going to be something I did on the next one I build, it only becomes a problem when the plasma cutter doesn't fire, otherwise it cuts fine. but I appreciate you advice and willl definitely give it a try. :)
sorry for late reply, so I did it by turning infill off and turning every setting off except for walls and only have it set for 1 wall. I use z hop to turn the plasma on and off, and thats about it its actually really simple. :)
Just got the files from Cults3D, thanks for posting. I may have overlooked it, and my apologies if so, but what material are you using for all the 3d printed parts?
firstly thank you for supporting my littler project. so all of my parts are printed out of pla. its simple and easy to print with, I thought ill just use plain and when things melt ill change it to something more suited. thing is, nothing is showing any damage from heat yet.
nice work man, i like the design, is very cheep really, but it looks it could work. grettings from Argentina!
hey yes it is really cheap that was my point of the whole thing I wouldn't recommend it for a industrial job.
hello and greetings from New Zealand :)
That is awesome bro !!!!
P.S. A water table will help your metal from over heating and stop warping.

that was the reason I build it, I just brought some flanges and they cost over 250$ And I thought surely I could build something to do it cheaper
@@larsenmotorsport5459 And better too

Were'd you go? 2 years since last video, did you get into a wreck?
I think I’ll have to duplicate your setup here maybe another meter longer and a bit wider.
that's nice.......perfect THC

your welcome
Hi bro, what size tubing do you use for the rails ? And what size the motors are ?
25mm tubing

yes sure, im about to do a update on it as ive made some changes to it, so can add that in
@@larsenmotorsport5459 Still waiting, how much do I need to pay you to make that video? lol

Mate this is awesome…. And I hav now purchased an Ender 3 v1! Would be great if u did a video with Cura and the Z Hop broke down and explained!
yes sure if thats something you would like I can make a new video explaining this and also could show some new designs
That is some genius work mate
thanks man, took a bit of thinking but came out pretty good

its just a cheap hf start plasmacutter, I do have a couple issues with emf aswell, but only when it does a lot of small cuts

Interested in the Gcode and "how you tricked Cura into thinking it's printing when it's cutting"

Awesome, thanks. Collecting parts now and have a busted ender 3 on the way. Hopefully I’ll be up and running over the next few weeks.

thank you
So two years later how did the sale of the kits go? What do you mean you did not sell any?
