It's a shame the cremator got cut again. Ironically, he would have fit ALOT more in HLA than HL2. Cremators could easily fit as Xen Flora Control combine that are sent into the quarantine zone to routinely burn zombies and flora to keep it all in check and away from C17. And it wouldn't break the canon that Alyx kills a cremator and sends its head to Eli. Woulda made for an interesting mini-boss at the very least.
Mr. Cubist Could be a combination of things. Cremator gets sidelined as a main-line Combine enemy for one with a long-ranged suppression role. Then the idea of it being a boss was supplanted by a new and unique idea that emphasized a stealth mechanic while still fitting the “Xen Hive” theme. They also likely didn’t include Combine troops from the Xen biome segments just to put a spotlight on the environment and the unique ways you engage with the new creatures, rather than juggling that alongside combat against gun wielding enemies. Potentially a number of factors that rendered it conceptually obsolete.

I just realized something, at 19:41 with the scientist concept art, that model is actually used in the game as the scientist talking to the advisor, I think that’s pretty interesting.
That is her...sorta. The original concept character was named Hahn, and she was supposed to be the main villain of the game, and she would make Eli read propaganda on televised broadcasts. However, the writers changed the story plan, so she just became an unknown silhouetted scientist. The model they were original going to use for Hahn went to Olga, the female rebel in the beginning of the game.
The cut enemy is back from the de- oh, not sorry, it's the charger from Quiver/HL1 1996. This cut enemy was one of my favorite enemies in the original Half-Life, and I'm really sorry to see it go. Bye bye, I will miss you.

During the original train ride, you were supposed to see a Gargantua get destroyed by a Combine train. They were also planning to have houndeyes originally.

The Cremator's head is in Eli's Lab in HL2. He even talks about it... so there is always hope.

The combine concepts blew my mind, they look so COOL im kinda mad that they cut all of that stuff since we don't have a lot of enemy variety (Combine) and they don't look as cool as they could've
I see where they were going with the cut ending, the doors are all on gman sighting locations, well most of em. now we know how gman always disappears. But is this indicate that we are playing as him?

Valve hates cremators, the number 3, georgian gas masks, adrian shepherd, updating tf2, old cs models (guerrilla warfare, midwest militia, gign, arctic avengers, spetsnaz)
Maybe they just couldn’t find a way to fit it in, or it didn’t match the story they were trying to tell? Even HL2 had a lot of stuff cut that we would’ve wanted to see. During the original train ride, you were supposed to see a Gargantua get destroyed by a Combine train. They were also planning to have houndeyes originally.
