Aww! I'm so glad you guys found and enjoyed my build! I think Lucy is way better though. Can't wait to see how she evolves. Loving the series so far! You and Magic are doing a great job! Keep up the great work sir!
@@LargelyUnemployed I'm so happy to hear that. You are actually the whole reason that I even gave Space Engineers a second try. When I first got the game, I wasn't really ready for such a steep learning curve at the time, so I put it down for about a year. Then your first season of Suit Only Survival popped up in my recommendations and I had so much fun watching you play that I finally gave it another go. Now it's one of my absolute favorite games. Thank you so much for all you and Magick do! You've definitely brought a lot of joy into the world through your work and I'm so glad I found your channel.
I really really like the main color of the base being that brassy color (maybe a little darker to give it an industrial gunmetal feel) with the light teal highlighting important blocks like the O2 generator. Also yes please do a speed test for the refineries! Another idea: Make all your other small grid ships variations on L.U.C.Y.'s core design like Dean made, and you've got the L.U.P.I.N. Fleet (Largely Uenemployed Piracy Investigation & Neutralization Fleet; Lupin is a gentleman thief and master of disguise!)
There is indeed a catwalk expansion mod that contains those 2 particular block you need, but you can also fix the railing using the vanilla railing blocks both at the top and at the bottom of the stairs. Only evil empire dont put railing beside large pit of dooooom :P I would like one beer please good sir haha Continue your good work love your se series
You have to select 'Keep projection' as soon as you load it and before you reposition it. If you don't, ass soon as you line the projection up, the projector will detect that all the blocks have been built and delete the projection. Then you can select 'Show only build-able' to reduce the processing overhead. Also there is a half railing!
If you do want the subgridded thrusters, I'd suggest two things: Not using individual hinges per thruster, but a hinge into a conveyor bar. And hen you'll want Whiplash's Subgrid Thruster Control Script, which is super good at things like multiposition thrusters or simply offset thrusters. Also, if you want large gouts of flame: Exhaust Blocks.
Also don't those thrusters have connections on the sides? So you can have all the thrusters as one grid and attach the hinges with only one hinge turned on. Same asthetic you were originally going for with only one subgrid
So glad this series showed up on my homepage and discovered y'all. Started and almost caught up with the vulcan series as well! Probably going to start the rimworld moon series after I do... New favorite youtuber!
The moon series is a great set of snapshots as to where our skill was. The first one is... a video. Definitely a video. 200 days is pretty fun. 300 days was our magnum opus
7:53 While I think limiting armour is a good idea I feel like there should be a separate total, e.g. for 100 non-armour blocks then maybe 125/150/etc. total block count, whatever you feel is appropriate. I think it'd be a good idea to make that just a simple multiplication, so lets say 1.5x for example. If you went up to 200 non-armour blocks from pirate kills, that would give you then 300 total blocks (so 100 armour blocks) allowing it to scale nice and simply with your normal block count progression. That's just an example, you might think that number is a bit high in which case you'd just lower the coefficient (I personally think 1.2x or 1.25x would give you some leeway for griebling and aesthetics while still forcing you to sacrifice non-armour blocks if you want some heavier layers of armour on there).
Oh dude the tests are beyond needed and loved. Im playing space engineers half the time im watching your videos. You improve my own game each and every time, its amazing how many dumb assumptions we all make while playing
Holy moly the clang forces on poor lucy. My heart geniunley sank because ive had my trusty ship implode due to hinge clang. Luckily you only experience a tumble from the sleeping god CLANG
I've been enjoying watching this, just a small thing I remember from back when I was playing; If you right click to drill instead of left click you'll drill a slightly larger hole, get no resources and also not damage any blocks so it's totally safe! :)
I gotta say I absolutely love your aesthetic. You are funny, Entertaining, and the old 90's ish music is a fantastic match to your style. Your videos feel 90's and its really nostalgic for me. Stay awesome.
I think you should make it so that you have to pay to keep a signal for an amount of block-respawn deaths or time, or mabey for one suit-respawn death, instead of locking it in permanently. E.g. 10 block-respawns, or 1 episode, or 1 in-game week, or 1 suit-respawn. That way it encourages you to do more than a few missions per death. It would also raise the stakes for dying. Also, I want to see a refinery speed test and speed for power consumption test with diffrent combinations of modules.
Comment for the algorithm. love your stuff (and Magicks editing) hope your channel will grow so u can both live from it and provide more awesome content to us😊
Interestingly enough youtube didn't recommend me a single one of your videos since your last space engineers videos like 9+ months ago. Glad to have you back in my recommendations. Got a lot of catching up to do now
As far as the paint goes I think that having the both colors together looks nice. Like how you have the house portion with the Mustard on top with the Mint on bottom looks great.
Would be interesting if you allowed yourself to simply drag large-ship blocks/parts the same way you dragged the small-ship batteries. Would be fun seeing you try to wrangle a big propeller or something. 🤣 After aligning the blueprint in the projector, it's wise to save another blueprint, to have the correct blueprint-projector settings for the next times you load the new blueprint when the projector will inevitably get destroyed.
Do merge blocked grids count as one ship for the block limit? Modular ship parts could be an interesting way to work around the 100 block limit. A small grid module that's mostly Hydrogen and Oxygen tanks and generateors could stay in orbit. A drill head can be swapped for a grinder head for salvage. Etc
There are railing blocks you can use to place in those gaps where the catwalks don't have the correct configuration. It's kind of a stop-gap solution, but it works.
I really like the random test worlds, feels like you could put the data into a spreadsheet and get some serious efficiency data. I have a creative world where I just test things sometimes, usually ending in horrific amounts of klang. EDIT: I'm in the same boat with WH40K, I'm not big into table tops but I do like miniatures and dioramas so I almost only paint and make terrain for my friends to use, but the Space Marine games are fun and the original DOW is a fantastic RTS, effectively the tabletop game played in real time.

18:00 you could try spacing the hinges out by one block each and then put them on a group, then on your control bar you could set two buttons to move the positions (one to have them at 90 degrees to the sides and one to have them pointing strait down)..
I absolute love the timelaps music bringing me back to the 80´s and all that lifestile. Its the banana of course. Nothing else. Lucy is a 2 million old monkey for gods sake!
