    Been making my own reusable menstrual pads since 2019 and decided to make an updated tutorial on how I make it with both English & Indonesian CC - th-cam.com/video/krTlqzju_9o/w-d-xo.html

    As a young girl my daughter had several skin sensitivities . I made flannel pads for her for when she started her period. We kept a container of water and hydrogen peroxide in the bathroom and she put them in there to soak until time to wash them. She’s 31 and still wears cloth pads. I wish I had known about them when I was having periods. To think how much money I would have saved!

      Do you think that fabric from a raincoat would suffice for the waterproof bottom of a homemade cloth pad?

  • @louiseeckert1574
    @louiseeckert1574 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    If you make them with a dark, or patterned layer of cloth as the top layer, you won’t see any stains after laundering.
    Your method of sewing is just so relaxing to watch. And you are so neat!

    Idk about heavy periods... but this reusable pad can do very well for urinary incontinence and continuous leaking of urine for some women after giving birth. Especially for those muslim women out there who suffer from this and are unable to perform their 5 daily prayers with ease. This pad can surely help them a lot. Muslim women will understand what I'm talking about. But really... I believe this will help all women who suffer from urinary incontinence.

    My daughter has been using reusable pads for several years now. She doesn’t sew but a friend of hers made some for her and little shop she knows sells them too. But I’ve gotten some really nice ones from Etsy. Would be great to be able to sew some too. Thank you for the tutorial.

    I used those for many years when I was younger and after use, I would soak them in water before washing then give that water to plants and they will seriously thrive. Also, mine had removable inserts for lighter or heavier days, which was nice. Don't need them anymore though, which is also nice.

    It's practical when you're at home. Even for heavy flow you can still use the homemade pad but you just have to change it frequently.
    I personally will still use store bought pad when I'm outside just to be on the safe side.
    I'm going to make this.
    Thank you so much.

    Just a quick sewing tip, if you make little snips in the seam allowance at the corners and curves its easier to turn inside out and stays better flat (I hope this makes sense)

      Or bamboo fiber which is actually better for you. The plastic in many standard disposal sanctuary pads contain harsh chemicals and can make your cramps even worse. I've switched to cloth pads and menstral cups for a number of years now and what a complete difference it made. The cramps are much more manageable. Much. And that isn't just me saying it. Countless of other women have claimed the same thing when they made the switch.

      @@МирославаК ты сидишь в разваливающейся, погибающей стране, утратившей и утрачивающей из-за своего русофобского слабоумия огромные территории, в стране, которая лишилась суверенитета и превратилась в американский протекторат, в стране, которой не на что жить и которая клянчит у всех подряд деньги и оружие - и радуешься каким-то санкциям? У нас в аптеках, в магазинах, в интернет-магазинах есть все, что душе угодно, в том числе и на такие дни.. Зайди, убедись. Никто, из наших женщин слава богу, такую хрень не шьет. Эти санкции - одни слова.

      Не говорите. В советское время наши мамы вынужденно вот такой же хренью занимались, да еще и стирали....потом что не то что прокладки - даже вата была в дефиците. Все это, наверное, ужасно трет, и не факт, что не протечет....какое счастье любое гигиеническое средство просто купить, а потом просто выбросить.

    Are cotton jersey and flannel knit fabrics? As I understand, cotton t-shirt material is also knit fabric. Is knit fabric beginner-friendly?

    • @odetoless
      @odetoless  ปีที่แล้ว

      cotton jersey is knit while flannel is woven. I would recommend using woven as knit fabrics can be tricky to sew with

      I don't recommend using towels as the absorbent layer if you have heavy periods, see if you have access to zorb. The iron is from Panasonic

      Washable but whether it's leak-proof or not, depends on the material you use & menstrual flow
