  • Ben Hammond is a Yorkshire based Sound Engineer who is currently mixing Front of House for Skunk Anansie. On this show he takes us through his show file and explains how he mixes drums for the British rock band. He talks us through parallel compression, EQ, groups and fx. In this series he is joined by Adam Boole FOH Engineer for Bullet For My Valentine. The next episodes in the series take us through mixing guitars and vocals for Skunk Anansie.
Ben uses an Allen & Heath dLive as his console of choice and explains how the workflow helps to achieve his desired mix with the use of the extensive onboard dynamics and FX.
These shows take place in Reel Recording Studios in York, a fantastic facility that is a recording studio but also hosts rehearsals & streaming events. Please check out their facilities here www.reelrecordi...

Love how you said you don't care what the EQ LOOKS like... Some times I wished the screen wasn't there, I wished a lot of people would mix with their ears, and not their eyes as well.

Yeah.. that stuff is true.. eq is a manipulator not a drawing sheet, it doesn’t have to beautiful, some people like frowning out another persons eq curve, you don’t know how it sounds raw, they will just open their big mouth and say sh**
