- Hey guys, so something completely different today, when I was shooting a video with Timo last year comparing Dignics 05 to Tenergy 05 I was lucky enough to have a session with the German National Team sports director Richard Prause. Richard has coached Timo for many years and is now working with the entire German National team as director. Hes had a former world ranking of 53 so hes a class player in his own right.
We played some points where Richard wanted to look at my game and test me out before he dissected my game. He gave me some amazing coaching tips after the session, so be sure to check those out as he gives some absolute gems. Enjoy! - กีฬา

What a nic guy Richard is. Such a gentleman. I bet Timo learned this from his coach too. 😊
When I was a kid in the 90ies, he played for SPVG Steinhagen, which is close to my hometown. He was a gentleman even as an active player! He took his time to talk to other fans and me and my dad about tabletennis, upcoming challenges for the team, other players etc. The whole squad was like that back in the days.
Peter Karlsson was also on the team and as its #1 the leading player. Peter Karlsson was such a humble guy even in the beginning of his twenties and as a Doubles World Champion and a World Champion with the Swedish National Team.
Tommi Danielsson was also very friendly, especially to kids. He loved to talk about table tennis.
While remembering, I realize how much I miss the great times.

This was so cool. Would be awesome to see a series from other world class coaches. From Hugo’s coach, Harimoto’s coach, etc. just a few tips from each.

Ummm... I don't think I'd go that far. I haven't seen anyone nearly as fast as Ryu
No one even compares with Ryu Seung Min. He was in a league of his own.
I think it would be worth doing a follow up video. He speaks with some serious knowledge and I learned a lot, possibly the most out of every Ttd video ever.
Hopefully we can get a follow up once lockdown has been lifted 💪

Richard Prause Great guy, great coach and also great at commentating on matches. Watch Timo Boll VS Zhang Jike 2011 Wttc I love how much knowledge he gives out while commentating.
He is probably one of the most proud coaches of all time
Actually, Helmut Hampl is the life-time coach of Timo Boll. He discovered him as a kid.

An old man from my club taught me wrist movement a long long time ago. Now, with years of practice, I always get over-rated by people due to the quality of my forehand topspins.
RP is not being precise in his description of the wrist dynamics 4:12 . The acceleration is at the greatest when the wrist is bent *UP* position just before the impetus from the forearm starts the acceleration of the hand/blade unit. The tendon down the thumb-side of the wrist-forearm stores snap-energy. You will notice 3:23 in the back-swing phase that he actually has the blade pointing somewhat *UP* . This all sounds confusing, but top-level players who perpetually maintain a blade-down position can never achieve wrist-spin: their spin is done with a very efficient _forearm_ snap instead, with energy being stored in the biceps insertion tendon. Notice Timo himself 5:17 , frame by frame: _he never snaps through with the wrist_ , the blade remains _down_ throughout the contact-period.
@@-danR Yes! That is correct. Just before the swing starts, while the arms are waiting in the back, wrist is in a relax position, racket pointing up. As soon as the swing starts, racket gets left behind, wrist starts to stretch back and then hits a limit, and then snaps or 'bounces' back up right when you're about to hit the ball.
I believe ZJK still does this wrist movement.

It's exactly how I did it. I have "taken" one topspin service and was training it every day for half hour. But I have used like box of balls not to run around to pickup one ball all the time. But now I'm confident, I can do this service. 😁
Sometimes one hour with good coach can do more than one year of nosence playing.

Richie‘s forehand topspin is just on another level. I had the chance to watch him play live in the German third league. The pros said that he has the most rotation in his fh ts, even more than Timo. Unbelievable wrist acceleration and touch.
Hey Hubetube agreed it's so super spinny! Really interesting other players said it's the spiniest they have ever come across. Does he still play 3rd league or was this a while back? 🏓
He plays now "oberliga" on second postition in his team which is fifth highest league in Germany. He. had till the last season still about 2200 ttr.. (German rank points) bundesliga has 2400-2500 chinese 2600- 2700 which is crazy. One of my club mates was playing in the fourth league with him togethe and told us , that prauses footwork is just better than a lot of young players and that he can see weaknesses from opponents very easily.

I naturally learnt to add the wrist to my forehand top spins at a very young age.
Whether to make an extra brush movement during forehand topspin or not IMHO is pretty debatable. This can add instability during topspin execution. Put your thumb up under this message if you think the same. ;)
You can tell a great player by their footwork. The same applies for badminton and most sports. A great player seems to mostly be in the right position

Sometimes Dan speaks very fast and it is hard to get everything... Ha, ha, ha... As you mentioned above... They don't use recived pronunciation... But sometimes it is not easy to me to understand when he speaks that fast
