Nvidia successfully convinced gamers that reflection handling is more important that pure rasturization, and charges $200+ for it. Impressive marketing.
The price is bad but the card itself is much more than 'reflection handling', you get better power efficiency, DLSS 2/3, optimization for a wider variety of studio and productivity software which coincides with RT performance for both games and 3d work.

The 7900 XT is coming down to around $750 in price. Meanwhile, Nvidia's still trying to sell the 4080 for $1200-$1300 despite the fact it wasn't all that much faster in these tests. The 4080 should be $800-$900 at max.
Being not much faster isn't all... consuming far less power, staying much cooler AND the codec support it's the reason why it's more expensive. But I agree SMH its should NOT be more than 950-1000$
No way, considering 7900 XTX price and the fact that they perform almost the same and 4080 has way better ray tracing performance, I think 1k max is fair. I do think that the 7900 XTX is also overpriced though.

7900 xt is an insane deal right now, bundled with the $100 edition of starfield, and with FSR 3.0 coming in september? Yeah, people need to stop letting Nvidia control them and realize that AMD is massively on the upswing.
They would have to pay me to play Starfield woke BS, but even if it wouldnt be woke its still a bad, bland game. They can take their pronouns and stick them where the sun never shines.
Try pushing the PL slider all the way up, set the memory to 2714Mhz with fast timings, leave the max core at stock, but increase the minimum to 2400mhz, and if it's stable, undervolt by 50mv. This saw a 15-20fps increase in most cases, matching or even surpassing the 4080. These are my settings, and it's an absolute monster.
considering amd's cards are on 5nm vs nvidia 4nm, and they are chiplets, the potential power and cost effectiveness of next generation should be superb.

The 4080 stomps the other two competitors from this video with DLSS3 and FG on... With the settings you mentioned RTX 4080 can actually reach 60fps...These two? Maybe 5...or 8 fps...
One advantage of the 4080, not price wise but is power. It gets similar performance for significantly less wattage. Still prefer AMD in this one though.
its 40watts difference, with a .32cent per kwh and running 6 hours a day for a year, the dollar difference is only 30 bucks a year, and thats not even including undervolting which amd cards are kinda known for. for 500 bucks difference, you have to keep your 4080 16 years to make up the price difference.
@@lemarcoX btw I agree that the 7900 XTX is a much better value in this comparison and you'd need to use them for years to make the difference in value with energy savings, that said in my country they're both the same price so the power consumption becomes more of a factor.

RX 7900XTX is the go-to option The power savings of the 4080 are so minimal (especially here in the states where power is 11-17 cents per kw/h) even if you live in germany or something it's only 50 bucks more over 4 years and realistically the types of people who buy these cards upgrade every 1-5 years anyways
Or even better, just get the 7900 xt. It's hovering around $750 and some go on sale for $700 and you get 80-90% of the 4080 performance while saving $500.

Well today i made my minde and i chose RX 7900 XT over 4070ti. Not only RX 7900 XT is cheaper then 4070ti, but also have better performance. And most important thing is that i wont have to worrie about if 12gb vram is enough in next couple of years.

And so far im happy with this decision. Cyberpunk on ultra setting with ray tracing on medium with some options turn off and still haveing +/- 80fps in 1440p For 2 years thats enough.
Upgrading from an Nvidea 1070 to either the XT or XTX. 1440p 144hz screen (may upgrade the framerate to 180+) so it'll be a pretty huge leap. From all the research I've done, the XT seems to be the best value 1440p card on the market, but the XTX is incredibly tempting, though it is obviously geared more towards 4k and would be overkill for 1440p. I have the money to spare but I hate the idea of purchasing a better graphics card at worse value for money.
@@sawz_z Went XTX. Only an extra £100 and stronger in every department. More future-proof too. The more and more i've been researching the XTX after already buying it, the more confident i get that i made the right decision. That being said, i also ended up buying a new PC all together, so bottlenecking isn't an issue for me, whereas it may be for you. Still, bottlenecking isn't the end of the world and it'll probably still worth it even with a bottleneck.
@@sparky844 Thank you. Where I am the XTX costs 200€ more than the XT. Planning to game on a 144/165hz 1440p monitor and a 4k 60hz Oled TV, I am going to build a all new system. Mine is 10 years old and going with a 7900 XTX will be a 2000% power increase 😅. It seems to be overkill for me at 4k 60 fps. But I also think future proof as I keep my PC for a very long time before changing the entire new system. Looking at benchmarks now doesn't give you the numbers for how it will perform in 5 years. So going overkill is maybe the solution. Which CPU/RAM did you choose?
@@sawz_z i chose Intel i9-13900KF. Also chose 2x16Gb (32Gb) ram, although 2x8Gb (16Gb) would gave worked just as well. You could probably push the framerate a bit higher than 165fps and maybe go for a 180to240hz monitor? The card can handle it for some games. I saw that on a 4k monitor on ultra settings, R6 could run at about 240fps on the XTX.
Really depends on your monitor, no point in paying an extra 100$ minimum for 1440p but 4k its a must. I had to upgrade my monitor from 1080p 60Hz to a good quality 1440p with real HDR10 and 170Hz totally worth it. For 4k screen with those capabilities it costs 40% more.

AMD has better p/f as always. I'd rather run a game at native resolution than with dlss which introduces visual glitches. And RT at 4k is stupid for the performance loss. Plus, I won't support a company that has terrible customer practices.
The 4080 performing that well while drawing less power is impressive I will wait however for the 5000 BlackWell series to see if AI has improved the cards

@The Batman My 3600 and 2060 are still capable in modern titles albeit its starting to become obsolete (60 FPS 1080p Medium and around 70 at 1080p low). I know a 7900xtx will become obsolete for 4k gaming in 1 or 2 years. Right now the 7900xtx and 7900xt are better at 1440p than the 2080ti was at 1080p at launch. The 2080ti is still perfectly fine at 1080p and so is the 1080ti. 1% lows and .1% lows are only a problem if game optimization is bad (Fortnite, Lord of the Rings Gollum) or you are running out of VRAM, RAM or you CPU/GPU cannot handle the loads. The 4080 is a terrible card in general. Its cost 200 more than the 7900xtx, and only has 16gb VRAM. Cost per frame is awful. Frame gen is not for me based on the games I play, and FSR 2 is fine for me. Adding what you are saying the what I already know, the 7900xtx would be the best bet. 4090 is priced way to high at almost 1000 CAD more than the 7900xtx.
240hz is not good for these GPUs with the loud coil whine problem. You should better wait for the fixed custom versions if you really want to play 240fps. Only 160 fps lock is a solid solution. I can really recommend the 6950xt, it had mostly the same Performance like the 7900xt with way less coil whine and the prize for the Performance is way better. If you play simple high fps shooters like overwatch, cs go, CoD, Apex it will runs on all games easy with 240 fps native 1440p and faster gpus like the 7900xtx Performance nearly the same, because the cpu bottleneck begins already at this fps area. If you play a game with a high perfomance impact, you have mostly the fsr2 upscaling solution if you really want it should run over the 200fps. I upgraded my 6900xt to the 7900xtx paired with a 13700kf and the Performance increase is only in intensive singeplayer games. RT Performance is a way Higher but not for high fps gaming absolutly nonsense for the minimal image quality Upgrade. I can really say, the new generation is overprized as hell.

Nvidia successfully convinced gamers that reflection handling is more important that pure rasturization, and charges $200+ for it. Impressive marketing.
Nvidia is better but the 7900 XTX should cost the same as the 4080 because it is faster in raster. Same for the 4070 Ti and the 7900 XT.

One thing I have to give credit to 4000 series is lower power draw compared to 3000 series
3000 series + any modern amd card. the extra money spent on a 4080, will be effectively reimbursed throughout the lifetime use of the card. A lot of people don't take power savings into account.
RTX 3000 use Samsung 8nm node, which where power hungry & not good OC
AMD RX 6000 use 7nm TSMC node, which needed less volts & have more OC
AMD RX 7000 use 5nm TSMC node, wich is less power hungry & better overall
RTX 4000 use 4nm TSMC node, wich is less power hungry & better overall node.. wich is the best in market currently
The only downside of Nvidia is they already charge 2x more with less VRAM ($1200 80 class card for $1200)
While AMD charge 1.5x more with with 25% more VRAM but slightly less performnce ($800)
RX 7900xt & 7900xtx will be extremely good GPUs in few months.. they will be cheaper by 30% or so..

Those with a 7900XTx or a 4080 are going to love 4K, 60-90Hz or 1440P, 120-240Hz. Med-High settings. Just not epic.
I wanna see these graphics cards put to the test with a bunch of things happening on the screen like when playing bf2042 the rush XL with 128 players on a small map pushes my rx6700xt to the max almost if not using all my vram maxed out.
That would just be CPU intensive.
@tmsphere unless my software is wrong my cpu in that situation is not even 50% my gpu is high 90% at almost all vram max
@@AlarakTheHighLord just because your cpu util isnt at 99 doesnt mean it wont be more cpu intensive than gpu
I have an rtx 6800xt and i am very happy with the efficiency. I undervolted it and i even underclocked it and now it peaks at 180w, is very quiet and i have 60fps 4k on high to ultra settings on almost all games. (Demanding games like red dead redemption)
Im not going to buy a graphicscard that uses 300watt because it gets so hot in my room so quickly. The heat production especially during summer is mad
I want a 1440p OLED display which is 240Hz. Is the 7900xtx abit overkill and I should get a 7900xt? The cpu I'm planning on getting is the 7800x3d.
If you only want gaming then AMD is killer. Ryzen processor+ AMD graphics = lethal combination.
The 7900xt is more than enough to play any videogame in existence!

That moment when you forget to turn on Ray Tracing and DLSS and the 4080 still somehow beats both cards in efficiency
yeah sure.. pay extra $300 to get RT which will kill 50% of fps in all scenarios.. and call it efficiency
efficiency is disabling RT until 2025 with better hardware to be able to use RT without a serious 50% loss in fps
Also, most games RT is barely change anything, or it's half broken, majority of people who have 4000 series cards already turning of RT to get more fps as far as I seen reddit & steam threads
