I'm pretty much thinking there's at least a 75% of him getting to direct it now after this comment. It'd make sense for him to direct the first new film of the new Bond since he did it for the two previous ones. I'd hate for them to just play it safe and follow a formula but I think I'd be down for it considering how good Casino Royale and GoldenEye were and are.

Keanu KEPT training and kept evolving his skills, right up through the Matrix, where he put in even more work to get as good as he did. And then KEPT training and got even better for John Wick. There is a world of difference between Keanu and Daisy Ridley. Has she been training martial arts her whole life? Did she put in the work at Taran until she was good enough to do competitions the way Keanu did (for years on end)? The reason that Keanu is a big action star is because he's believable, and he's believable because he put in the work and is actually as good in real life as he is on camera, much like a lot of action stars of old. In essence, they earned their stripes. Ridley, unlike Cynthia Rothrock or Michelle Yeoh, is simply not believable in these roles.

However, while we can say that Donner's Lethal Weapon 1 ties with McTiernan's Die Hard 1, and Donner's Superman ties with McTiernan's Predator, the differences are highlighted in the late 90s -- Lethal Weapon 4 vs Die Hard With A Vengeance, I have got to give it to Die Hard With A Vengeance, from start to finish that is a perfectly paced film with some awesome action sequences. Lethal Weapon 4 is definitely good, but it just doesn't flow as well as Die Hard With A Vengeance.
Martin Campbell has made some great movies. His track record since Casino Royale has been rather subpar though (except for The Foreigner, I liked that one)

The stiff schoolgirl prefect acting in the stage play is back, the only question is how will it compare to 'Under Siege,' 'Olympus Has Fallen,' 'Air Force One,' 'Passenger 57' or 'Sudden Death?'
