The Last Time is Supreme tier! It walked so Exile can run❤ also Taylor starts it high and ends it with low while Gary starts it low and ends it at a higher note! In my mind it is Taylor begging him but losing all the hope at the end while her partner not fighting to stay that much but at the end wishing to stay when she is sort of done(you call me up again)
I always get the feeling that in the end he's begging, and I knew it was because of the way he sang it, but hadn't noticed yet, thank you. I'm pretty sure that's really what it was supposed to be
22 is a weird follow-up after All Too Well at first... But once you puzzle piece together going from The Moment I Knew to All Too Well (10 Mins Version) then you'll get to 22... You'll see why she placed that song in the tracklist. At 21 it was the WORST she ever felt even on her birthday and the aftermath before the inspiration for making Red album.
You're currently my favorite Taylor Swift reactor, your perspectives, interpretation and insights are always topnotch and never surface level, which really satisfies me. I'm here since the reputation reaction, and all your Taylor videos for me is top-tier. Hope we get more! (Say the folklore reaction, since it's my fave album and I have no Patreon)
Red centers around a relationship and its breakup. It's named after the passion, both good and bad feelings the realtionship brings. That's why songs like 22 follows songs like All Too Well. It's a total rollercoaster of highs and lows. At the same time, it still makes sense storytelling wise. If you listen to the 10 minute version All Too Well or The Moment I Knew, you might be able to figure our that her lover missed her birthday party which led to the end of the relationship. This birthday was her 21st. This puts new meaning to 22 coming after All Too Well because after the tragedy of her 21st birthday, she decides to celebrate to the fullest on her 22nd.
Red is by far not my favourite album, but if someone was to ask me what album i'd recommend they listen to for taylor and it could ONLY be one for the rest of their lives - i'd say Red. It has some of the pinnacles of her songwriting, it has the start of her pop stardom, the twangs of country still there and encapsulates some of the key themes across her life, love, heartbreak, friendship, grief and loss outside of love, longing, nostalgia and just overall a really cohesive story of a young girl growing up and moving on
The RED Vault tracks are my FAVES of all the Vault tracks. RED Vault shows off Most Vulnerable writing of Taylor. "Ronan" and "Better Man" just tugs the heartstrings and makes me cry everytime. Better Man won Country Song Of The Year.
i think splitting the album into 1-10 11-20 and 21-30 is really the best call! also, keep in mind that the standard version of the album ended in track 16 (begin again). then, the following 3 (the moment i knew, come back be here, girl at home + state of grace acoustic were the deluxe tracks. then we have "ronan" which was a charity single, but didn't belong to the orginal album, although it was released in the same year (2012). then, from track number 22 on, we have the real vault. "better man" was, of course, written by taylor, but she sent it to Little Big Town, and it became one of their biggest songs. the song "babe" was written by taylor but we also already knew another version of the song, performed by Sugarland featuring Swift (I think it would be cool for you to check this one out when you react to the Red era MVs, since taylor appears on the video as well).
Stay Stay Stay is really a narrator thing, I think from what Taylor explained that it's about wishful thinking about a relationship where, despite the hardships, the other person would love her enough to stay. I think the phone throwing thing is just an exaggeration to emphasize this idea of hardship and difficulties.
I am hoping you were just joking about dying, there is nothing wrong with your voice or face. The look on your face when you listened to The Last Time really shined with pleasure. Wishing you well.
My favourite TS album! What a ride. It totally encapsulates the feeling, happy, free, confused, lonely at the same time. Miserable and magical too. ❤❤❤❤
Stay stay stay is an imagined love from the Red perspective. Later on, when she finds a truer love she admits she thought love was burning red, but it’s actually golden 💛 (and healthier lol)
“Stay stay stay” as always been a ‘meh’ for me and “This is the last time” was my fave but I prefer the old version (Gary sounds off to me on the new one 😅) and if you like the 2 POVs songs you will LOVE folk-evermore - excited for pt.2
Been loving your videos. The Swiftologist just did a reorder of Red. He points out and I agree--Taylor's ordering to the songs is always confusing. Honestly I don't think it's crazy to think she has some insane logic to why they go in the order they do and we're just missing it. But he did a great reorder on it to put it into how he thought they should go and it really does make for a great listen... a more cohesive complete story to the album. Excited to see what you think of Holy Ground.
Stay x3 is definitely a song you have to grow to love. The 5 minute craft music in the background always gets me, but for some reason I just love the song so much.
I am in the minority who prefers the original 5 minute ATW to the 10 minute version. The chronological storytelling is very important imho and it's not done in the 10min version. I also prefer the instrumentation & production choices in the 5 min, I think the sound of it evokes more heartbreak than the 10min. 👍❤
It's very much in chronological order in 10 min version I didn't get why you said it's not it's just more lines in the middle with more perspective of the situation
The 10 minute version is 100% chronological and gives the whole picture, which deepens the meaning of the song.. You clearly didn´t understand the lyrics or hear them right if you don´t think it is chronological.. Also as a person who is lyric focused, the 10 minute version is the only version for me. The 5 minute one is just shallow in comparison.
@@yara5502 excuse me, please don't talk down to me and tell me what I "understand" simply because my opinion differs from yours. ..And to call her original piece of work shallow is insane and shows a huge amount of disrespect. What an absurdly condescending comment, you should really try to be more open minded to other people's interpretation/opinions.
@@Azx12345 hi, I don't thinkit's chronological with the first added verse.... "til we were dead and gone and buried, check the pulse ... after three months in the grave. And then you wondered .. held my lifeless frame." comes before the relationship verse of "we're dancing round the kitchen in the refrigerator light" and the breakup verse "maybe we got lost in translation". The earlier verse talking about post break up makes the song non-chronological imo. You can disagree but to me it feels out of place chronologically! ❤
I agree. Obviously I love the 10 minute version but I prefer the original production and I was a little disappointed the first time when I heard it was different in the 10-Minute version. The original still hits the hardest for me
One of the things I love about "the last time" is how out of synch their lines go at the end, which sort of foreshadows them asking for the same things at different times and breaking up again
what i love about what she said on the title track, Red, is that if she has to pick a color that represents the experience she had with that guy and the relationship they had... it's the color red because this color is not necessarily a bad thing or a good thing, it has a wide spectrum of emotions seeing Red as a color that is daring and bold and passion and love and affection but also on the other side, it's jealousy and anger and frustration and intense. she really loved him and i can see it on how beautifully written the songs are for him. also, i love how Red (song) is full of similes describing the entirety of their relationship.
red was nominated for a grammy but didn't win and she believes (idk if it was ever proved) that it didn't win because it wasn't sonically cohesive (which was intentional) and she said she'll make a better album and that's what led her to 1989 going completely to pop and she did win a grammy for that.
@@alyshamcalpine2238 London Boy, I think he knows, I forgot that you existed, FUCKING ME!? I like some songs but don't act like it's not her weakest work
If you noticed her 21 birthday was ruined she talk about it in the album how she was waiting him on 21 birthday and the heart break that why 22 is what it is lol
Red gets knocked for being not "cohesive" sonicly....whatever that means. It stands solidly in the gap between Speak Now and 1989 as the true transition album from "country" to "pop". Also...as much as I appreciate the All Too Well 10 version, I think the original album cut still hits harder for me. The 10 minute version has a place...but if I'm constructing a day-to-day playlist, the album version is my go-to. Either way...the ATW bridge is the best lyric put on paper. That's a hill that I'll die on....even in Taylor's vast sea of amazing bridges...
i know this is about taylor swift, but i do hope you also react to sabrina carpenter's new EP "fruitcake" i feel like you'll love it!! love your reactions btw and cant wait for more taylor and others!!!
