I guess they all have their distinctive personalities like we do. Is Teddy still alive? What is their lifespan?
This is truly an amazing connection between an animal we obviously no little about. I had no idea one could be attached to a human or that it makes such adorable signs clearly communicating his enjoyment. The trust between Teddy and his human and Evan the other human nearby is astounding. Truly educational on how inter species can be family/friends. Even with a human!
Porcupines are seriously one of the most underappreciated and criminally understudied animals. We are all trying to look for intelligence in chimps and dolphins but people are quite quick to dismiss the quilly little porcupine as being a “pest”. It’s known porcupines are good learners with great memories and can memorize complex paths and mazes for around 100 days, and porcupines have been known to find their way back to an original location after being trapped and relocated 20 or even 30 miles away. There are also more cases of porcupines feeling affectionate or connection to humans than just Teddy. They also differ a lot from most other rodents in that they have longer lives, only breed one offspring per year at most, court before they mate, and have few active predators. Porcupines are one of those animals that are easy to write off but hold a lot of curious mystery that deserves more study.

You can't remove it's quills. They grow back. That's like saying you shaved your head and now you are bald the rest of your life.
