    I can’t believe the doctors don’t warn us that opiates can cause so many health issues. I have severe health issues from being on pain meds for so long. I am far too young to be this sick and I know it’s the pain meds that’s caused my endocrine system to not work properly.

      Out of desperation, when self hypnosis couldn’t help me in this area-I went gluten-free and an anti inflammatory diet. I resented it at first but three years later😓 I finally saw the extraordinary effects: I just had exploratory surgery (5 incisions) and I only took Oxicontin for a week, the average I was told is 2-3 weeks!

      @@kennethnicklowicz1030 the epidemic is the refusal to prescribe medicine anymore. Now people will actually die MORE because is the fentanyl flood. They need to be more lenient with the prescribing. I mean goddamn. I’m thinking about killing Myself. I live with ulcerative colitis and they only give me tramadol because I am only 25 years old. Excuse me? I use to take oxy like it wasn’t shit man, morphine is barely better than a hydro for me. I may have acted like an addict, but that’s only because the ulcers mimic withdraws and make them 5x worse... I literally can’t get any doctors to listen to me, and what’s sad, is I majored in biochemistry and literally I think I might be more enlightened when it comes to opiate medications than most of these bootlicking doctors scared they will get their licenses taken or something I don’t even know anymore. All I know is I hurt everyday and life isn’t fun and yes I withdraw already it’s just I literally can’t function without opiate medication. It’s very sad situation and it’s making me want to give up on life because all I can do is hunch over in stomach pain.

    This is a informative and much needed post. I was on extended release morphine for fifteen years and when I tried to discontinue use my hair started falling out in excessive amounts along with other problems caused by hormonal changes. Most physicians I've spoke to aren't aware of these side effects.

      John Wayne omg that’s awful. I am on pain meds and have been for years and I’m not well and I think the pain meds have played a role in making me sick.

      becksta29 Most definitely, they tend to hide the negative side effects due to the psychotropic effects of the drug, opioid rotation helps greatly, it seems to keep me in better health as well as taking alternating doses... 75mgs morphine one day, 45-50mgs the next day. If you try opioid rotation don't go by opioid medication conversion charts... they're not very accurate, start on a lower dose and get a feel for it first.

    This is very useful. I was having increasingly horrific back pain (bought about by years religiously taking an unrelated medication) and when I finally got prescribed morphine, it felt bliss as my first few days pain free turned into weeks, months and years....
    But then begin cropping up at least half of what this presentation was about, and I'm mid 30s...
    Frankly when pain is so serious, opiates are certainly required, but alongside it should be long term education, not just the short term "dizzy, confusion, constipation" type info that was never an issue... You fall into a false sense of "this is wonder drug"security

      They only keep referring to hyperalgesia just to keep a backdoor open to kick you out of treatment. Now they promote Gabapentin and Pregabalin as non-narcotic or non-opioid neuropathic pain medications (while they are only proven to reduce the amount of opioids needed at the cost of being as dangerous as combining opioids with benzodiazepines), and claim they have no risk of abuse, addiction, dependence and withdrawal (all busted). They also try to put you on the antidepressant roller coaster and yet again claim that you can stop these at any time easily with no side effects, while antidepressant "discontinuation syndrome" is known to last for a lot longer than opioid withdrawal.

    My sister has taken Norco for over 30 years for severe migraine headaches. She did have a hysterectomy with no hormone treatment. In the past years she has had several fractures of the vertebrae (5 at least) and has now broken a rib stretching to reach. I am just trying to find out if Norco robs your bones of calcium and if this is what has caused her breaks. At 76 I have a feeling that reversing this may not be possible, but if it is possible I would really like to find out and get her help.

    I’ve been on opioids for over 20 years, and one thing I found is my immune system increased but the side effects were horrible.
    Before opioids, I would catch about 5+ colds each year, and wife none. Then I started abusing them, and I went to 0 or 1 cold and my wife catching more each year (aging).
    This is my own personal study. Done because I swore to people, I use my pain meds to keep colds away.
    When I got sober two times, I began catching colds again, even caught Covid. I got back on opioids, and when I caught Covid the second time, I didn’t even get a sniffle.
    Don’t take my word for it, but there is something that opioids or at least masking the sensors with opioids, that increases my immune system. One thing that the immune system does when on opioids though, is cuts and bruises lasted longer. Opiods increase immune in one area, while totally tanking another. Yup, sores and wounds healed longer, waaaaaayyy longer.
    Now that I’m sober, I got a cut the other day, not even four days later - my last scab. About half-inch around (scraped some skin on able while falling). That would normally be a few weeks of healing.

      @dalzy1969 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re on Subs you definitely need to be on testosterone replacement therapy. The subs typically knock a man down to the 170 range. Normal is 300-1,200. Because the subs create low testosterone, ED is common and osteoporosis or weakening of the skeletal system. Best TRT is “the patch” or the cream, as both regiments can be implemented at home and insurance typically covers them.

    • @JohnWayne-86ed
      @JohnWayne-86ed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NMW80 I'm almost certain of it but I don't like to give anyone medical advice seeing as I'm not a doctor, however, I have some experience in pharmacology and organic chemistry, more importantly... experience as a consumer of narcotic pain medication, the side effects and conditions they can cause. Opioid rotation has greatly improved my health and reduced side effects, if your doctor does this for you make sure s/he keeps you on equivalent opioids, for example if you're on extended release morphine which is a full agonist time released medication make sure the meds they switch you to are also full agonist extended release as well, oxycottin, methadone, morphine etc. A lot of doctors aren't familiar with rotation and dose equivalency and don't feel comfortable changing routine. Also some doctors (very few) will prescribe a low dose of amphetamine (speed) to reduce sedation in improve analgesic efficiency.

    • @NMW80
      @NMW80 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Wayne thanks for the info. I’m tapering off my pain meds atm and it’s not fun 😔 but I am willing to push through this and get off it. I don’t want to be sick and I’m sick of being lethargic and having no energy. Do you get lethargic on opiate pain meds? I mean once you build a tolerance to them I feel like it stops working and you feel dreadful on them anyway 🤷‍♀️

    • @JohnWayne-86ed
      @JohnWayne-86ed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NMW80 Hey, if you can get by without them that's great! Look up Kratom, although mildly addictive in its own right its far more easy on your system and could help you with tapering off your meds without discomfort, it binds to opioid receptors much the same, and you can legally buy it online, there are a few states that have banned it though. And yes, before I started opioid rotation, (low dose) stimulants as well as testosterone propionate, healthy diet, supplements and exercise, I was lethargic, no libido/desire for sex, cognitive decline/foggy headedness, lack of interests/no passion outside of music... it actually intensified my musical interests, which its known to do. However, finding a doctor thats willing and knowledgeable enough to provide what mine does is a rare thing, especially now that an "opioid crisis" has been declared... leaving most suffering without pain management, I feel very fortunate to not be in that group of people. FYI, once you give up your pain medication its next to impossible to get put back on it, I hate to say it... but you shouldn't tell your doctor and save them in case you need them again, I've had a couple doctors tell me this off the record and have seen it happen too.

    I have been on methadone for 24 years .
    Lately I have been having some really scary side effects 2 hours after my dose.
    It doesn’t happen every day, more like once every 2 or 3 weeks & only the last 5 years .
    Scary symptom : for a quick second I don’t recognise my surroundings & then a huge amount of sweat will start pouring from my head , this attack lasts about 5 minutes max. Once finished I feel ok.
    Has this happened to anyone else ?
    Does anyone no what it is ?

      Sorry to burst your bubble but Cannabis isn't the saint of pharmacology and while it has many medicinal qualities that are yet to be recognized and backed up by evidence and guidelines to include them in medical practice it's not the silver arrow we are looking for. Also, while I don't mind it, the "side-effects" of a dose capable of touching the pain are far more impairing to me at least.
