Seeing the thought process on each turn was awesome. It made me think of all the battles where I went "Nah, this is hopeless" or "I NEED to keep my hazards up" and "Aaaand Thunder missed;" there was much more I could've thought about and done to make those battles go smoother. whoever is reading this the line in the description goes hard: "Blaming hax is easy but there's often a way it could've been outplayed!" I tried adapting this team to fit one of my favorites: Meloetta as the special wall. With AV and max HP/SpDef+ the only special-attacking threat is Darkrai's Dark Pulse. Meloetta lacks Hydrapple's Regen, but makes up for it with: - STAB base Tera Blast + tera Water - Psychic nukes under Terrain, or just -1 SpDef - 60% Paralysis Thunder (this won so many matchups) - Confuses trainers with "what is this" and confuses their HO mons with Alluring Voice - Deals with Pecharunt's poisons and Gholdengo better, even without Shadow Ball for the latter While the team I adapted has bigger holes, it's tons of fun to work with. Writing this gave me an idea: viewer-suggested mons / sets? Obviously not whole teams or using exactly a set, but sticking with the mon or the concept. AV Meloetta has been as consistent in making good progress as Primarina and Hydrapple with similar sets, so it'd be cool to see how you tackle things like this.
That's a good idea! I'd certainly be open to such a video, and thank you for recommending AV Meloetta! I'm also so happy to hear that my videos have been helping! :]
I was literally thinking about if Indeedee + a Good Psychic was a good enough offensive core like, yesterday. Looks like I'm getting my answer. Good vid.
Awesome content man!! I really love the way you go through the teams at the beginning-it makes the rest of the video even more fun, because it means I can watch how the opponents you come up against test the intentions you'd had when you built the team
I usually hover and the 1600s. But finding your channel and watching you play and your thought process in certain situations has helped me become a better player. I'm around 1750 now. Love the content man. Keep it up 👍
Psychic terrain with deoxys can be super good. In Gen 7 I was consistently at the top of the AG ladder. I made it reliable with 2 tapu leles(taunt+mirror coat), 3 deoxys attack, and 1 deoxy speed. No such combo for a full team has really ever existed in OU, or any format that wouldnt let you have 2 tapu leles.
@@pinkacross2042 interestingly, I've found some of the same absurdity in the present incarnation of NU. It's chaos because of the constant shifts dumping centralizing super threats into it every month. I'm still not good at the tier, but it has brought back some memories.
As a more casual player I will just take a team and play a few games. I aprecciate the pokepaste and I would love more "team showcase" videos explaining the idea of the team and playing a few games explaining reasoning. Great content!
Don't worry about repeating types, worry about defensive overlap. If you have a lot of pokemon that wall a lot of the same stuff, that's an issue. If you want a hard rule though, usually 4 pokemon of the same type (outside of Water types on Rain) is a red flag.
I'm curious why you said that porygon z's worst ability is adaptability - i've never really used porygon before but what makes analytic/download better? also great video as always
Glad you enjoyed it! Download gives a 1.5x boost if you manage to bring PZ in on a pokemon with higher physical defense. This isn't hard to do if you build your team with lots of pivoting pokemon. This also gives a boost to ALL moves, not just Normal type moves (which is a big deal since normal isn't that great of a STAB). Furthermore, it makes normal moves stronger than adaptability-- adaptability makes STAB 1.5->2x, this just adds an additional 1.5x boost, so normal moves are 1.5*1.5 which is 2.25. To give you an idea of how strong PZ Download is-- with a Download boost it has a stronger Ice Beam than Kyurem.
would it still be worse than analytic? i don't think that would be useful outside of switch predicts since i don't think it has the bulk to tank to many hits to get the boosts@@pinkacross2042
@@sable6679Another thing to add is that if a mon with adaptability terrastalizes into a type different from their initial type (Ex. Dragalage tera into a water type) they lose the adaptability boost on their original type. This means that the example Dragalge will lose the extra damage boost on its Dracos and Sludge waves.
To add another view into what pinkacross said In Pokémon, a x1.5 boost in a stat (+1) is the same as receiving stab in an attack. So, the damage inflicted by a 130 SpA Ice-type mon with Ice Beam is exactly the same as the damage inflicted by a 130 SpA Non-ice type mon with its special attack at +1. Since Porygon-Z has a base special attack of 135, after a +1 in its SpA it not only fires stronger ice beams than Kyurem (base 130 SpA), but also outdamages any Pokémon with a base special attack of 134 or less even if those receive stab. @@sable6679
I use psy spam with expanding force trickroom hoopa-u, it’s one of the few mons viable on a full psy team cuz poltergeist and armarouge are so inconsistent and useless now
In this case I'm referring to the singles style of psyspam: indeedee with terrain extender, sash polteageist, nasty plot Deoxys-speed, volcarona, armarouge, etc.
The two sections were recorded in different locations-- at the moment all I have to work with is a very small room with a lot of sound reverberation, but I'll do my best to make the quality as good as possible!
Psyspam is certainly bad-- full psyspam at least. This semi psyspam was an attempt to get away from that, but I honestly have major doubts about this team as well.
Do you by chance have a discord server? With your already growing audience, I think it would be a solid next step to take to make your community expand at an ever faster rate than it is right now
Sort of. My favorite pokemon is Mega Heracross, but I prefer Escavalier to normal Heracross... so I guess the ranking is Mega Heracross, Escavalier, and then regular Heracross.
I can definitely see the argument. Currently on the fence about it-- on one hand, yea Sleep can be pretty busted and especially Hypnosis have almost no answer is difficult. At the same time, Spore can be absorbed by Grasses, Magic Bounce and Gholdengo. I think Hypnosis on Darkrai is certainly an issue, but should Sleep or Darkrai be banned? It's a difficult question.
See that's the fun part, it doesn't! Jokes aside, mostly Dragon Tail Hydrapple, Tera Fire Tusk, and offensive pressure. It's a very difficult matchup though-- this team isn't up to my usual standards and I wouldn't bring it to a tournament, but I thought it would make a fun live.

love your live play videos. I struggle to find other channels where you see someone playing in proper high elo.
I'm glad you enjoy them! :)
Check out Blim- he regularly uploads high ladder and is very skilled
... Raikou learns Scald? They really decided to make its distribution as annoying as it was before, huh.
At least Toxapex doesn't get it. :]
Raikou and Emboar have had it as Semi-Signature moves since gen 5!
@@jacksonbranbyRaikou got it in Sword and Shield iirc, Emboar had it since BW, though
Emboar gets Scald too 🤪
It had been since before SV
I was literally thinking about if Indeedee + a Good Psychic was a good enough offensive core like, yesterday. Looks like I'm getting my answer. Good vid.
Thanks! :]
I remember jokingly suggesting scarf indeedee male on a live stream and you called me embarrassing.
That made me die laughing.
I really enjoy your gameplays its really useful and interesting to see how a better player thinks
keep going with this!

love your content also how many type repeats on a team do you think is to much

So this is the semi psyquic terrain style you told me about! Cool team, indeede hits like a truck with specs!!!
Yea Indeedee can go crazy!
Hydrapple putting in WORK damn
Yea this team really proved to me that AV Hydrapple is a very solid pokemon! Especially with Dragon Tail, that change helped a lot.
"nobody runs that" is exactly why the gouging fire was a thic lad
True enough lol
Refreshing to see simply high ladder good gameplay!
Glad you enjoyed!
I come for the incredible gameplay commentary, I stay for the gen 4 music
Glad you enjoyed it! :]

Psy spam is a reference to doubles squads with expanding force I thought?

honestly heatran is one of my favourite mons rn, it just checks so many threats and forces switches like crazy
Yea Heatran is effective, although I hate the inconsistency of Magma Storm.
Mic quality jumped waaaay up in the live gameplay, please use that mic for the prerecorded sections too if you can!
The two sections were recorded in different locations-- at the moment all I have to work with is a very small room with a lot of sound reverberation, but I'll do my best to make the quality as good as possible!
yo dude! you should use the browse extension showdex, it puts a damage calculator onto your showdown
Noted! I'll look into it!
It's weird seeing this after you told me psyspam was a bad idea in a team building video.
Great video tho.

I don't at the moment but I'm certainly open to the idea! I'll look into it. :]
I’m curious about the ev spread for Heatran. What is it for?
Mostly defense and HP for bulk, enough speed to outpace Kingambit.
Can you make a Pecharunt team please?
Certainly, I plan to do so! It very well may stay in the tier given that it needs Tera to hit Kingambit.
Great vid can you maybe make a vid about your team building process
I do have some videos about teambuilding already, but more will be coming in the future!

Wasn’t deoxys dead to rocks?
Yes, it was, I was incorrect there.
Now this is the stuff
Glad you enjoyed it! :]
Is heracross ur favorite pokemon?
Sort of. My favorite pokemon is Mega Heracross, but I prefer Escavalier to normal Heracross... so I guess the ranking is Mega Heracross, Escavalier, and then regular Heracross.

3 leftovers wow 🤯
Best item in competitive pokemon, without a doubt.
Roar suicune
Maybe?
❤
Volc smashes this sqaud. Cool team tho got like 1700 on an alt with it
Yea a well-played Volcarona with Roost is gg-- this certainly isn't my best team, but I thought it would be a fun one to record for a live.
Is that Deoxys-Speed in OU???
Yes indeed! It's been OU for about a month now.
How does this team play around volcarona
See that's the fun part, it doesn't! Jokes aside, mostly Dragon Tail Hydrapple, Tera Fire Tusk, and offensive pressure. It's a very difficult matchup though-- this team isn't up to my usual standards and I wouldn't bring it to a tournament, but I thought it would make a fun live.
Im trying to make E terrain work with Rising Voltage Raging bolt but it's legit impossible lol
Try that in fortemons with rising voltage as the item.
Yea Electric Terrain is honestly completely unusable, Pincurchin is TERRIBLE.
This is pikawu
It is not.
I’ve been playing against your teams on ladder all day. Frankly, the wins are free when I can just pull up the Pokepaste.
Do you have a twitter account? Also great video
Glad you enjoyed it! I don't have a twitter account at the moment but I may make one in the future!
