I don't think you can impose negative energy on other people. You can only diffuse/disperse the negative energy that you experience as an individual. They are on their own trajectory and have their own mistakes to make. If you practice forgiveness and abstain from their spaces as much as possible, you can get a good feedback loop and they'll do whatever they were meant to do, be it sabotaging themselves via their own free will or learning from their mistakes.
