I would have been fifteen back then and remember Barry Took on Points of View. The theme tune is When I'm 64. People wrote letters in those days and I grew up knowing how to write them!

Back when people actually used to write in. No sign of social media or email. Oh the good old days

Yes; aged fifteen at the time of this footage, I had learnt at school how to write letters! And having just turned 53, I can still put pen to paper!!!

Sent here by the Guardian. Well, somebody had to click. This guy is brilliantly camp, my only memories are of Ann Robinson doing pov.

Back when people has some sort of a say on television. They wouldn't do that now. In Ireland, we had a similar programme called Mailbag which ran on RTE 1 and 2 from 1982 to the mid 1990's and was presented by Arthur Murphy. They even got a letter from Cornwall in 1987 saying that they couldn't receive the BBC and IBA stations, but they could receive RTE 1 and RTE 2 as well as RTE Radio in VHF Stereo. Still all the same, I never heard of anyone in Co.Wexford or Co.Waterford receiving BBC 1 South West or TSW.

I lived in Eastbourne back in the 90's, when the weather was good I could get some Dutch tv on the portable but not the main one.also we used to regularly listen to Dutch radio at work,a rock station called arrow fm,no ads just music, apart from the news in Dutch every half hour 😆

That is pretty good DX (long distance reception) from Ireland to Cornwall. Arthur Murray used to work as a DJ on my ILR station in Liverpool (Radio City) when it opened in 1974.

It's kind of funny hearing them go from mentioning Annette Badland in Bergerac to mentioning Eastenders, as she's on Eastenders now.
