Hi Angie I was a Registered Nurse for many years and won’t buy growth factors either. The possibility of proliferation of skin cancer cells in the human bioengineered stuff is a big no and plant based - well I am not a plant 😂.
I have rosacea and eczema so my skin barrier is chronically impaired therefore I use a lot of caution when choosing skin care. My rosacea hates retinoids during true menopause (I could use them carefully prior to becoming fully menopausal), but I believe in their efficacy as a topical treatment. My active of choice is azelaic acid- it has made the biggest difference in how my skin looks. Obviously I use spf and as I live in the UK use ultrasun or Evy with their more longwear modern filters (ultrasun is available on prescription for skin cancer patients btw). Niacinamide is nice, my skin absolutely hates vitamin C and peptides are hydrating😂. There is no miracle cure for aging and I personally am happy to have lived long enough to even worry about it. I was involved in cancer nursing for many of the years spent in that profession and trust me not everyone lives long enough to worry about aging/wrinkling. I want calm, hydrated and moisturised skin but just embrace the signs of aging as a life lived. My smile lines are far more prominent than frown lines so it is a reflection of that life on my face.
I am not however on camera on social media with all the pressure about how I look that entails, so no judgement etc. I do think procedures will have a far more obvious impact than anything topical, so for those buying 300$ serums saving that money towards a procedure may get you better results. Best wishes x

      @halfamo2422 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

Yes, here for the azelaic acid - makes huge difference to pigmentation (the only thing I really want to get rid of) - and niacinamide (my 66 y o skin was parched, nothing worked, until I discovered it, funnily enough in Cerave) Retinal works well, but so does a 1x week fruit enzyme peel. And why IS vitamin c so problematic - I sweat that was what wrecked my skin barrier and started off kp! Growth factors are such a half-understood science - def not going there.

Oh my goodness. While science advancements are very much appreciated, let’s face it, nothing will turn back the clock. Being and accepting your best self in every stage of life is the healthiest approach. The cosmetic industry is well aware of the “taboo” of aging in our society, especially for women, and they seek to financially capitalize on it. None of us are getting out of this life, “alive”. We are all going to age. Just do the tried and proven: limit sun exposure, wear sunscreen, use a retinoid or tretinoin, moisturize face and body, eat healthily, do both cardio and strength training min of 5 days per week. You are all set.

I've been using "Bioeffect" Egf serum (a brand from Iceland, using a patented egf ingredient) for some years now during winter time. (live in Scandinavia with dry cold air) I haven't notice any revolutionary results in terms of younger skin more than from the tretinoin I use. I will say though, the capacity to keep moisture in skin and keep dryness at bay, then the Egf is outstanding. I can have the most dry flaky skin, and if I put it on at night, I wake up with soft, moisturized skin that arent dry anymore. And it only requires a tiny drop from the serum, it's potent in that way.

I'm not sure if TH-cam allows links in comments yet, but you might want to do a search on why there's controversy here. It isn't just neonatal foreskins, but in the cases of some companies, sometimes it's embryonic or fetal cell-sourced (resulting from an abortion in Switzerland, albeit one claimed to be "medically necessary", which is nevertheless murky ethical territory in a lot of cases. From some quick research, it appears that the original line of tissue came from a case where they had an unborn child being unlikely to survive, so the solution to that is (according to some)... to kill them. ***Whatever one's personal take on this, no one can claim this is uncontroversial.*** (And I don't care to hear from people who aren't bothered by it. I well aware these people exist and how they think.) Some buyers, then, would object to this or at least find it disturbing,, and would really want to know what they're buying. A quick search shows that Allure even has an article about the controversy, and I see stuff on Reddit as well. It's easy to find with the right search terms.

Hi Angie. You are a scientific genius. I love all of your research and how well you delve into these studies.
I think I personally will skip the growth factors, and continue my experimentation with the vaginal estradiol used topically on my face in combination with the Tretinoin. So far, it's only been 3 weeks of using estradiol twice a week. I most likely need to bump it up.
By the way, for anyone interested, if you use a Good RX coupon for Tretinoin, for some reason the brand name, Retin-A is cheaper! It's also much creamier and therefore you need less than the generic.
Timeless Skincare is definitely the way to go for other products. I use all that you have recommended. I would never be without the Vitamin C, nor their Coq-10 serum.
    You are the best!

I've actually been using Adipeau for the last two years and a bit. While it may also do some nice things for the skin, it's primarily a fat cream. That is, it's designed to help with loss of facial fat. I don't think Angie has any significant fat loss at this point, so I don't think Adipeau would do anything for her.
Based only on my own experience, I think it does work to some extent. It didn't give me filler-type results, but it did restore some fat to the right hand side of my face. Benefits to the left hand side are less noticeable but extant. It's probably worth noting that my left side lost facial fat first. Adipeau also helps with the small hollows on the inside tops of my eyebrows. Alas, it did not help noticeably with my undereye hollows, but I've been happy enough with what it's done that I keep up a maintenance level. Also, it can take time that differs from person to person. For example, a You Tube journalist had some results with it within three months and not much more after that. It took six months for me to see anything (except lip plumping), but in the 7th month I got fast results for a bitand then incremental improvement for about another year. I'm now 72, by the way.

I am trying Calecim PTT-6 professional serum, almost done with vile #2 and just ordered #3. I am noticing the elasticity and overall plumpness of my skin especially my neck skin is better (not like in my 30’s or anything but it is improved) and my overall skin texture is improving, which was what I was hoping for. I blend three drops of the serum with Vichy Mineral 89 for better slip AM & PM. I have large pores due to sun damage and am post menopausal 56yr old using transdermal HRT. I have been using retin-a for 6yrs thanks to you, and vitamin-c serum as well. This brand is also approved for use with micro needling (I did a series of 4 treatments 3yrs ago and it works well for me with collagen stimulation and pores) so just had one of four in office MN treatment and used this after and my healing time was faster and I was not as red or puffy the next day. I plan to give this a good six months and decide from there, but as of right now I’m liking this addition to my skin care routine and it doesn’t interfere with the other goodies I’m using. Love your channel, Angie! Xxx

You might try seeing if you can keep the results by using it less often, if that would make you feel better. That's my personal opinion, by the way, I'm not a medical type. I used a different "stem cell" serum for almost a year without any problems and ditched it because (1) it was a pain to use, and (2) that particular serum didn't do anything to my skin that I could see.

LOVE the in depth review of EGF. They're definitely flooding the marketplace! BUT, everything I have seen supports their efficacy! The one saving grace is most of them are out of my price range! I use stratias interface, not bcz of the egf, but bcz of the multipeptide benefits and it is a very nice cream. You look beautiful as ever, Angie! Thank you for such a wonderfully educational video!

Have you made a video on how to get rid of the marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and the 11's? I see that you don't have these. If you have made a video on these problems please can you show me? And if you haven't made a video on this, can you please make one? Your skin is mind-blowingly amazing!

Yes! I tried TNS about 20 years ago... stinky, stinky... I couldn't stand it! And no difference in my skin at 40 years old... at 61, I am going to stick to tretinoin and peptides. Thank you for your expertise!

I tried it years ago. I felt it tightened my 42 yr old skin, but the smell was disgusting. Only used one bottle.

Not what I expected! I’m glad I watched to the end bc I almost skipped straight to the links you shared to buy something you were sharing in the description box 😱
NO WAY will I be adding a pre-existing-skin-cancer-developer into my skincare routine 😳 (Maybe adjust the title to this one?) Love you AHF!! And thank you for your research! You’re my hero ❤

I’ve been using TNS for 6 months along with the rest of my arsenal and even though it’s a fortune, I see a difference. 64yo.

I’m 62 and noticed a big difference when using Necutics BioFirm on my neck so I will be sticking with it. Thank you for the review though.

thanks Angie! Glad to see the 500 dalton rule & (all) peptides addressed. I remember learning at some point that one particular company solved this (Alastin) but, unless and until I see the people I trust address this, I won't spring for it. Really appreciate you taking a deep dive.

I love watching your videos. They are a good place to start in trying to figure out what is good and what is questionable to use on my skin. At 61, almost 62, I am extremely happy with products from Oil of Olay and L'Occitane. I feel some things are just not tested enough and some "growth factors" are extremely scary and dangerous--like cancer cells. What gets swept under the rug with many of these outrageously expensive products and are not properly addressed are genetics, environment, and living/dietary habits. How much does eating a hamburger or other junk food age your skin? Doctors are imperfect people as well. Remember when doctors claimed smoking was good for you.

About 10 years ago I would regularly get chemical peel facials every 5 weeks, which left my skin feeling a bit sensitive, and I would have some light skin peeling. The Skinmedica TNS Recovery Complex, which I finally tried after a couple of the facial treatments really did make a difference in the time it took for my skin to feel and look better. I am sure the peel itself helped with fine lines and wrinkles as well as sun damage in general. So maybe the growth factor complex helps with “injured” skin, and not so much with normal skin? Maybe they could also help if someone was having seriously deep microneedling? For now I stick to tretinoin and sunscreen, plus some occasional hydroquinone. And BBL every now and then. Thanks for all your research!

Women who never or seldom use good quality skin care products will likely see the most improvement. Women who've had long term, consistent, good quality skin care will likely see less significant change. It's the law of diminishing returns in my experience and opinion.

I’m also 62 and for the past few years my skin has become hyper sensitive. I had to stop my prescription tretinoin . I’m trying to reintroduce retinol slowly but am getting red, raw and flaky patches from .25. I’m only using once a week like I did when I first started about 10 years ago. Any ideas ?

I use ZO growth factor after my Altreno Tretinoin at night then moisturizer. It is more expensive than tretinoin at $160 something I think. It was recommended by my esthetician at the dermatologist office I go to, It seems to help. It sounds funny but they advise you to use last in your routine before moisturizer. I asked her to write it down to follow and try to keep my nighttime routine easy with a great skin barrier emollient & lipid replenishing moisturizer. Better she pointed out to use one expensive product that works that alot of others that are cheaper that dont work. Is there any certain moisturizer you love after tretinoin? I have using ZO growth factor serum about 2 or 3 years.

Excellent video! Thank you so much for all of the deep and scientific information to provide evidence. I have used Neocutis off and on for a few years. I mostly use it after a treatment that provides a small window of opportunity for the serum to slightly absorb. I have never thought about growth factors affecting possible skin cancers. So, I will now only be using my C, retina, HA, and spf. Thank you for all the time and research that you put into this!!❤
