Thanks for watching my friend
Thank you so much for the transparency. Amazon sounds like a mine field. Tread with caution ⚠️
its sure is becoming more and more like that....
I like how you explained everything. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I will save this episode to play in repeat every morning i wake up! Well this one is must have!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thanks Again Bro!
thanks for watching my friend. appreciate the love
Appreciate ur transparency
I went through all this as well just a few months into it bro. Brutal. Thank you for the video.
you said it! brutal indeed.
It's crazy. I hadn't thought of your channel for some time now. I just dropped my kids off at school, and I was heading home so I decided to listen to some TH-cam - before I could grab my phone, I got stuck behind some Subaru, and as it was turning left, something struck me and I just said out loud "Vanader. Vanader!" And the car turned onto the street.
I grab my phone, pull up TH-cam, and what do I see just below the recommended shorts? This video. So I go "Vanader!" Almost like "eureka!" Lol
Hadn't seen a Vanader video in my feed in months. Cool coincidence!
Jimmy you made my day brother. Thank you so much for watching and thinking of me
Wow amazing information you are sharing. The TH-cam algorithm decided I needed to see this 😊 frankly I don’t know if Amazon is really worth it. Sorta reminds me of the gold rush in CA. The people selling the tools for prospecting made the money, not the prospectors.
That’s a quote I’ve definitely used before. Sell the shovels instead of mining for gold :)
Thanks for clicking and watching. I appreciate you
That's exactly how it is working in ecommerce. However, Amazon makes only a very small profit on retail sales. Historically, Amazon has either lost money or made up to 3% annually. Its huge profits come from Amazon Web Services.
The companies who really make the huge money are those taking the transaction fees. It costs them only pennies per transaction and yet they charge either a minimum fee (typically $0.60 to $1.00) or a percentage of each sale (up to 3%). These companies are raking in billions annually.
Thanks for all your content!
thanks for watching it!
Another great video that is helping us out. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful!
Amazon really can be a nightmare for sellers.. I've heard horror stories from book authors also... seems every segment of the market has their problem with Amazon.
As with most large entities I feel that it’s par for the course. Amazon has been changing since it began. It will continue to change. I think it’s important we swap experiences and lessons so we can learn together. Thanks for watching rux
Book authors suffer from Amazon promoting Kindle Unlimited. If an author wants to get his or her books in front of the largest number of readers, then the books must be "free" to read via Kindle Unlimited. The author gets a share of the monthly subscription fee paid to Amazon.
Amazon was "pissed" when you didn't ship product within 48 hours due to not having stock for 2 weeks because it is a violation of federal law to charge the customer's account in this situation. The FTC would come after Amazon first and the company is right to avoid your violations to affect its operations. You should mark the product as "temporarily out of stock" until your inventory is replenished.
🌴🌴🌴 I’ve just got to say that you have an amazing channel filled with so much common sense.
You’re truly a professional❗️Blessings,Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
Carlos! Thank you for watching!!!
Excellent content Sir
Thanks for watching my friend
So what's the plan going forward if your company has lost "hundreds of thousands of dollars" so far? What will you do to rectify this situation? This was a very informative and well done video sir. Thank you.
Grow out of it.
One bite at a time.
Get profitable. Stop wasted spend. And grow smart so I can use profits to pay it all off
INSTEAD OF GIVING AMAZON $18,000 A MONTH JUST FOR STORAGE, HIRE EMPLOYEES TO SHIP YOUR PRODUCTS OUT!
Great video and very informative! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching Chris
Overall, your video provides a good overview of why anyone looking to start a business selling products online should do so while working a full-time job. This gives the new business owner time to learn how to run a business before relying on it for an income stream.
Would be business owners should realize that the typical business in America generates only a meager 5% profit after all expenses are accounted for. Expenses do include the owner's salary.
Since you have to mark it up so much just to get over that 40% fee would you be able to offer the same product or similar under and sell that for less direct to consumer so the consumer can save some money
He can but most customers get drifted away by trends overtime and need a lot of marketing, PR and advertising to retain them. So, he would rather not do that, maybe offer a small discount for direct orders.
I want access to the 3 billion people shopping on Amazon every month.
Man making $15,000 after all that work feels disheartening. First time watcher, great content!
ive got a few of those haha. thanks for watching jonathan
Thank you bro awesome information
Thank you for sharing this information....
You are very welcome! thank you for watching ted!
Painful education but valuable and unusually transparent lessons being shared here.
We're a 7-figure brand on amazon and there's a big learning and cost curve getting started on Amazon (even if you use an agency). You need a high margin product and optimized for amazon in all ways (e.g. cogs, dimensions, packaging, weight, etc). Owning your own brand is a huge advantage too and can help combat other sellers.
Edit: It's worth noting amazon's audience is so large that you can make up lower profits with higher units sold (if all goes well). Like, it is hard to comprehend how many shoppers they have.
Wise words. I would agree. Especially about the way your product is set up
Just the intro hurt
imagine editing it over and over again.... lol
@Vanader Always appreciated your transparency.
Done same thing
Is there any training Amazon provides for new vendors to avoid these losses? I can see everyone making these mistakes and making Amazon not you richer.😢
not that i know of specifically. they have their FAQ, forum, and training side of the business but its what you would expect. i find most useful info from experts on youtube
I can second Vanader's comment. Amazon training etc is really rough. I get most of my info from a youtube channel called "My Amazon Guy". They run an agency.
have you tried selling on amazon without paying for the advertising? or is it a must? night and day difference?
I have. In the beginning we did organic only. But it really is a pay to play platform. To get in front of people that don’t know about you you need to pay.
Even if you do it another way like organic content. There’s still a cost
@@Vanader . I searched for many people that manufacture on mass scale from home. its rare, but I found you over a year ago making your glue product from your garage. gave me hope...that video inspired me to open back up my wood shop and to sell strictly on amazon using FBA producing floating wood shelves. I sold on eBay before doing the wood shelves but I hated shipping products to customers (is why I settled on FBA) but now after seeing your recent video. im a little discouraged from seeing what you spend on advertising alone and losing money. hopefully I can apply your tips and strategies in the future.
Im a single dad, my wife passed from cancer some years ago, I like the idea of working from home to be there for my kids. I quit doing the ebay business 5 years ago because the business took up too much of my time. I made TH-cam videos since then but got booted from the YTPP recently, so im back to the wood shop business. but my kids are older now, out of school and they want to join this business venture.
Something that i didn't realize for a long time was that you need to advertise, to get the sales, to get the algorithm to show your product on page 1. Its a vicious cycle!
@@nathan-yj7jx indeed.but he didnt realize what his advertising bill was gonna be til after it came in (shocker)?
ive done advertising before on multiple platforms and you normally set a dollar amount for what your willing to spend.… a limit to what they can charge you per advert campaign.
Great Video
Hi thanks for sharing, learned a lot. Why stick with FBA? why not ship yourself to the customer, wont it be cheaper no need to ship to amazon then ehy ship it out? is the losss of prime listting that big? can you still not offer free shipping without FBA?
The loss of the prime badge is that big of a deal
@Vanader i dont have prime, but I do only buy items that come with free shipping. I think I need spend £30 for that. Please continue to share your amazing knowledge
What happened to the vape case product?
i untimately failed. i wasnt able to sell on amazon because of the category and i was spread too thin to make it work on shopify so i simply shut it down, ate the loss and learned from it. im making a video about it
@Vanader thaks for the reply. The video series was extremely helpful. Thanks for doing that.
+Vanader You are way overpaying on everything. The Max you should be paying Amazon is 15% Sell Fee. DO MERCHANT FULFILLED AND CALL IT A DAY!
you dont get a prime badge with MF. no prime badge = lower conversion rates and lower ranking = less sales = more work for me
@@Vanader L STRATS
@@Vanader I AM SELLING A $11 ITEM FOR $64 AND ONLY PAYING $5 FOR SHIPPING AND 15% SELL FEE, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG + I ALWAYS HAVE THE BUY BOX
@@Vanader MY MARGINS WAY STRONGER
@@Vanaderdoes your seller fee go from 15% to 40% just for the prime badge??
DON'T SPEND MONEY ON ADS ON AMAZON!
It sounds like if I'm ever selling anything I want to avoid Amazon like the plague.
It can be great if you have the right type of product. Harsh if you don’t
If Amazon is taking a 40% cut on every sale how can they possibly be selling the cheapest products to their customers?
My margin is Amazon’s opportunity.
sweet
Amazon charges all sellers 15% of the product's selling price on each product sold, not 40% plus as you claim. This video is not accurate.
That is the referral fee. To be competitive, you need to participate in FBA. That is very expensive. I think Amazon keeps 30-40% of each sale I make.
Jesus... Seems like you need a degree in Amazonology just to not go broke selling on Amazon
I like that. Sure feels that way sometimes! Definitely not as easy as it used to be
Great video. Amazon seller is a rip-off. It's like giving your business to Amazon free of charge while working for free and spending your own money to support such business.
Sure can feel that way
Well that was depressing to watch… 😢
Amazon revenue US$574.8 billion, net income US$30.43 billion (2023). Money had to come from somewhere.
My margin is his opportunity. He said it himself :)
10% profit margin? On 156k a month, thats an astonishing amount of cash burn. Youre working for amazon at this point..
10% net profit on a business is legit. What’s yours?
@Vanader touch'e. I'm just breaking even 😂
Six min in kinda infuriating why are you not ready to ship?! Cause your fees are fucking ridiculous
So bunch mistakes
I made them all the time. Like all the time
who in their right mind sells an item that you don’t have in your possession.
you just want to feed the youtube algorithm 😂
Or I just made a mistake and I’m talking about it.
I definitely didn’t think. Oh this will make a good TH-cam video in 3 years. I’m gunna sell out. Lol
First few seconds make no sense to me. Over a course of 14 days, you made 71k sales, and you say you only make 5k profit? 41k is in reserve, and you will still get a majority of that back. And this is back in 2020??? I'm not going to waste my time with the video with that level of bullshit. Do better.
Maybe next time you’ll watch the whole video so it can make sense.
Thanks for watching a few seconds tho!
