Great lesson….as per usual. Nice shirt. Idle Moments is such and awesome album.Hypnotic at times. You can hear the sound of the wood on the guitars resonating and it sounds so good…those McCarty pickups were pretty magical. And the band so tight. Henderson Hutcherson Pearson and such a great rhythm section.
Coincidence: I watched this video two weeks ago and the following day my guitar teacher showed me the 9th chord because it was an option in a song we were working on. Jody Worrell is a beast of a player and a fantastic teacher.
That is a good and concise introduction to the concept Shane. It’s a good thing to have in your toolbox, depending on the situation you are playing in. There are a lot of musicians, me included, who appreciate it when other players leave space for them.
Great lesson Shane. Especially the other voicing for the C7#9. I suspect my bass player will like these voicing as well :) Thanks for this and looking forward to more. All the best to you and your family.
ESP... I literally wrote myself a reminder two nights ago to write a simple jam progression excluding the root in every chord (I'd heard about this a while back but it just came to mind again on Tuesday). And not only does your vid with this exact topic show up in my feed (with a different topic in the title, which I clicked nonetheless) but this is the first time I've seen your channel. Too funny. They're not only listening in to our phone convos, following our every move, and know our entire online history, they're reading our minds... or at least the post-its I leave on my desk 😅Great lesson, thank you . New sub here.
@@TheRiotguitar g***** damn forgot to mention, Idle Moments is one of my most favorite albums of all time, I have had and lost vinyl of it since the 80s, including Jap vinyl reissues, like an idiot freaking out not finding a new apt in NYC one time lost it and gave away all my vinyl to musician friends, and now only retain one CD remaster copy... where'd you get that bad ass T-shirt ❤
Shane, thanks for the consistency lately, Loving these lessons! I would love to get a phrasing lesson vamping on these chords??? Where is your head at approaching something like this progression?
Great lesson!!! Thanks!

Thank you for this great sound …. So smooth. Guitar players are fortunate to utilize this! NICE!

Bought your NOLA funk groove book/cd 15 years back Shane. Got so much together from it! You’ve brought so much “Southern Soul” to the LFDH band! ❤❤
thank you!

So amazing & informative! Thank you for sharing this! Excellent lesson! ❤

The root is usually the first note I let go of, because I figure the bassist is gonna hit it
I feel like this is jam band friendly.
I'm more rock but I love that's what this is.
Wow you're really chording it up in the early middle
I remember how I thought of Carlton when I first heard Slow!❤
Love it. Hey Shane, will the podcast resume at some point?
yes
Shane, thanks for the consistency lately, Loving these lessons! I would love to get a phrasing lesson vamping on these chords??? Where is your head at approaching something like this progression?
