    Just wanted you two to know that as someone who follows quite a few youtube vanlife travellers and their exploits you are by a wide margin my very favourite. 🥰 You tell it like it is and don't take yourselves too seriously. Your dry soh just makes my day.
    Please keep doing what you are doing though I know that given your latest news things might have to change. Love and peace.

    I bought my boat in Devizes 14 years ago. I also have a van. I prefer boat life, the pace is very slow, I have travelled extensively in the boat. Presently on the Llangollen Canal. Winter is much warmer on the boat. They are not claustrophobic. The boating community is incredible. You should give it a try, especially after your wonderful explanation of how to move a boat down locks.

    You could put your soap in one of those mesh garlic bags. Tie the top with a bit of ribbon . Hang it up between uses, you dont have to take it out until it gets too small to use or you can just press the remains onto your new bar .

    We moved off our 55ft boat 5yrs ago and we are now full time vanners. We sold our house and bought the boat and lived in it for just over 5yrs it’s much like van life there’s over 2000miles of waterways we had a great time, the boats aren’t claustrophobic and they are very warm. The costs are roughly the same as a van, you have to pay a yearly licence fee which allows you to moor for free unless you have a private mooring then you have to pay through the nose usually London etc. or do a overnight at a marina. We only moved off the boat so we could travel into Europe with our van. The way of life is like going back into the 50’s and it’s a slower pace of life but can be hard in winter when the cut freezes over lol.

    By far the best van life channel on TH-cam reason being “ not shouty “ just normal chit chat as your going about your life easy to watch and no flexing. As far as the soap !!! You can buy travel soap bags on Amazon but probably crap age old problem even in a house get gel and move on !! Crocs and socks?? Looking on the positive it’s better than Birkenstocks and socks but still needs to be debated. Have a good one guys your channel is fabulous

    Hello you two! We have a plastic soap container bought from a chemists.... but a small tupperware tub or old margarine tub would do..... or even put it in a mesh bag and hang it up to dry.

    Great to see you’re enjoying your adventure around Wales. We have a campervan now but used to have a 45 foot narrowboat. We didn’t live on the boat and we don’t live in our campervan. I loved the narrowboat and could probably have lived on the canals in a larger boat, probably 57 foot. I don’t think I could live in the campervan. The boat and the van are about the same width, 6 feet but the boat is obviously a lot longer. Your canal license allows you to moor anywhere on the canal for 14 nights and there’s facilities to empty toilets and fill with water throughout the canal network. There’s also toilets and showers. I loved the boat but my husband hated it! Travelling at two miles an hour and mooring in the middle of nowhere was like a long deep breath for me but my husband found the slow pace of life really frustrating 😂😂. Thankfully we both love our campervan 😁.

    I used to put our soap on the car bonnet to dry. In Northern Spain, it once disappeared and I blamed my husband for leaving it in the shower at the campsite. Later I discovered it in the hedge with little claw marks all over it. The culprit was a rat!

    So pleased you enjoyed Little England Beyond Wales, as Pembrokeshire is known. The trip to Devizes was lovely. I suggest you take a look at Narrowboat Life Unlocked or Robbie Cummings. Their channels will give you everything you've ever wanted to know about canals.
    Another wonderful video. I hope you are fit and well and looking fter each other. No comment by the way on crocs and socks!

    If you use soap nuts you can wash clothes, dishes, people and pets (including make kitchen and bathroom cleaners). No need to dry your soap, then, and cheaper as you can use them multiple times and compost them when they’re spent. 😌

    • @RunningOffGrid
      @RunningOffGrid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soap nuts???

    • @cherwhichwitch2344
      @cherwhichwitch2344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RunningOffGrid Yes. Sometimes known as soapberries. They've been using them in India for centuries. They're fab and have many uses. They're basically the dried fruit shells from the soapberry tree which grows in India.

    • @cherwhichwitch2344
      @cherwhichwitch2344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RunningOffGrid V easy. Boil about 15 nuts in a cotton drawstring bag in 2 litres of water. Bring to a boil then boil for 10 mins. Turn off the heat and leave covered. This creates a gel like substance. (You can use the same nuts at least 3 more times if you keep them in the fridge between uses) Use the gel as it is for shampoo/clothes washing or you can add essential oils if you like. For cleaning products (kitchen, bathroom etc) you mix it with white vinegar and essential oils. Grind the spent nuts in a blender/grinder with 500ml water and use for dish soap/washing veg/handwash/body wash/pet wash. Anti fingal and repels lice and fleas so great for animals. You only use what you need so no waste and no mess. Just the basics but it gives you the idea 😉

    No to the crocs n socks. :/ Sandals and white socks are a trend where I live and it's not pretty! Fuel prices are definitely impacting road trips. I plan all my car camping trips for less than one tank of petrol. I just can't afford it. You're going to end up doing more camping than travelling if prices carry on like this but I hear camp site prices are also up. No escaping inflation! :(

    Thumbs up on the Crocs and Socks, I like wearing them too. Ouch, your diesel is as high as our gas out here in California. You'll need to do more off grids and free park-ups to balance the cost of fuel. Hope you get that sunshine again, makes me cold just looking at you two out there in the cold, wind and clouds. Glad you're still able to get out despite the weather and give us a tour of your travels. Thanks for sharing with us.
