Good for you, Daniel! What an incredible feat! 2 1/2 hours and 50 ragtime pieces from memory! ... just because you were bored and as a hobby! You express many features of what Ragtime welcomes and Eubie Blake encouraged: "Play it through the first time as the composer wrote ... then play it the second time the way you think it should have been written!" Fast ... slow ... Liberace ... JoAnn Castle ... even the piano rolls of Joplin ... tempos are personal and subjective ... you do you ... the "wishers" will always have something to find to nick-pick about ... but if they could do ... they would ... rather than comment. Keep up the good work!

Ok, so I've visited this video about 50 times. I listen to it while charting on my patients, while paying bills, while doing my taxes. This has been the background music of my life. I personally play ragtime myself, only Scott Joplin and a few others (I used to have the Black and White and 12th st. rags in my hands). This video has really made me a believer in learning non-scott joplin rags. Again, thanks a million!

How many years have u been playing the piano? How long does it take u to learn each song. I am completely utterly amazed, impressed by your playing. I listen to you everyday. My favorites are: entertainers rag, tickled to death, Hungarian rag, coaxing the piano and black and white. I printed out the music but I can only dream. I took lessons when I was 5-14 but……I’m trying. Do you teach piano? How do you play so fast and so accurately? I have watched others playing those songs and no one plays them like you. You are incredible. I Love listening to you play ragtime…my favorite piano music. Thank you for making this video!!!

Wow! Outstanding playing! I'm 64 years old and just started 3 months ago trying to teach myself piano (can't afford lessons) and I have a little $150 electric keyboard from Target stores to learn on. I know it would take me 150 years to play like this! Ragtime is my favorite. Anyway, Outstanding job man. Keep on playing!

Something else. I’d love to attend a black church service. Unfortunately my days of travel are behind me. But they so enjoy themselves. I have a CD & I refer to it as “the big black ladies belting it out”. & it’s contagious. You can’t not shake your booty!

This is amazing Daniel. How you've managed to cram 50 different rags into your brain and actually play them back to back is beyond insane. Subbed on the spot; this is the kind of quality I look for on youtube.
On a different note, I was wondering what kind of equipment you use to record the sound of your piano? It's a very clean, crisp one and I plan on working on a few videos of myself playing on my own channel so I could really use the tips. Cheers man!

I loved all of these, but I'd never heard the slower rag pieces before and I really liked them. My favourite was the Hungarian Rag, though. I feel sorry for your hands, though! Ouch.
I wish I wasn't tone deaf, it would be nice to be able to play an instrument.

That he is a brilliant pianist and has done a great service by posting a labor-intensive medley there can be no doubt, but I (a humble listener) disagree with his speedy tempos, as not reflecting Joplin's intention and gliding too quickly over Joplin's sexy syncopation and lush melodies. But he deserves many thanks for performing this. And how much work went into showing the notation?

My favorite 30 seconds are 1:14:07 - 1:14:39. The first run through the theme is awesome! It sounds like you heard an orchestration of The Nightingale Rag for piano 4 hands and played it by yourself. Of course, the sheet music has about half of the notes you played.
