As my mum would say "if you are cold, put a jumper on". Great real life test once again. For most of us the range would be more then enough and you have shown even with daily high millage like you do this little van is adequate.
Really great video. Shows just how easy it is to live with a decent EV van. I think racking is essential. Vans are like spare rooms they need organisation or they just become a pit! I think if it was racked out, properly, to your needs it would work for you. Cracking VT James
It's a shame they didn't upgrade the Kangoo to the same spec battery and CCS charging, LED lights etc when they did the Zoe, would have made a brilliant van.
@@gilesbrown9361 that's a very polite demand "What do we want?" "A kangoo van with Zoe specs" "When do we want it?" "Now..... Please..., If that not too much trouble"
It always strikes me as funny that some people just don't need big vans. My mate years ago had a Fiesta van and I asked him why he hadn't got a Transit or something and he said he just didn't need a bigger van! I guess a tiny van uses less fuel and is more efficient? Personally I would always go for a van that could sleep in, in the back - just in case you get caught out and no hotel available......... Thinking of Guy Martins van here!
My wife has the ZE50 GT Line R135 car which gets the larger infotainment screen and rear camera. Had to pay extra for the heated seats & steering wheel and more again for the armrest between the front seats and the raised boot floor (dealer-fitted). Worth every penny extra we paid!! The car is not without flaws but the only thing we miss is adaptive cruise control which isn't an option on any model.
Impressive review. You should let the Renault engineers and designers see the it. As others have said though, shame the Kangoo doesn't get the same spec. (ps, ideal vehicle for small business or even the Post Office)
One would think that an interior grate or mesh close to the vent would be a good design idea. I'm assuming that M&M's aren't the only problematic things that have gotten into car ducts one way or another. At home we have these little inserts that we put into floor vents to stop crumbs and things from falling in and going mouldy or attracting pests. Then again, home HVAC ducting seems much more standardized dimension-wise than car vents. Anyway, nice test of the car. Thanks for the video.
Really great to have more van options, this could be a perfect for many small businesses. Very clever to hear about the eco cruise control that backs off the power going up hills and lets you roll faster downhill, I've often thought this would be a nice feature in a EV, nice work Renault. Shame it's not adaptive cruise. I think the higher spec ZE50's models have a reversing camera and a mode of advanced infotainment, not sure if this is available as a van version?
Drives me nuts on the car version if the Zoe on the motorway here in Devon, too many rolling hills. I struggle to keep up with the traffic with it set to 70 here, so end up with a more interactive drive than I’d like - so have stopped using it on the faster roads.
Fantastic video, but for your dislikes, could they be variant limited? (Business+, assuming that isn't the highest spec trim) and so could benefit this being mentioned on the title maybe?
Having driven and owned a number of Zoes over the last 3 years. And owned a Kangoo Z.E. since Feb last year. This video backs my long held view, that Renault have deliberately kept the appeal of the Kangoo limited. By not using the same options on the Kangoo that have been available on the Zoe. I know the new Kangoo is finally getting more useful range and charging options, but they could have offered 22/43kW AC charging in 2013
50% in an e-nero. Yep I've stopped using my 30kWh Leaf for longer journeys and take the wife's ICE now, previously I went all over the country. Everywhere I stop at there are 21 or 71 plate cars that are 50% + charged, some even use the AC at 7kw on the rapids if it's not got CCS.
Pity about the cabin heater. Other than that, seems like a good van with a great range. I can see the bed is packed but what was your average weight load through the week? By than I mean, 1/4 weight full or 1/3 weight full or 1/2 weight full, that sort of thing. Another excellent presentation, thank you.
Do you think you'll be able to get a test in the new Morris Commercial sometime? I really like the look of that one and would be interested to see if the performance matches the design.
My thoughts were similar but wasnt going to comment as I thought is it my business how James likes to dress? As you have commented you can take the flack from James Lol
may be if you were not wearing a t shirt the heater may have made you warmer before heaters turned on have shirt on and maybe a jumper to save wasting power to have heater on many m and m were harmed in the making of this video. so expect a revisit to take more out soon. could you not put a mess that stops items from being dropped in
HI James, Missed the videos! How much are the powered frunk / trunk / audio upgrades for a Model 3? Are you able to source the right parts or do we need to buy them ourself?
Yea I spotted that clearly hear the clunk,BUT Its not his van is it and only on loan.Trouble is if he is not that careful with other peoples property what is his quality of service work like and how does he care for others vehicles if maybe on a Testdrive a bit worrying maybe.
Love the test drive analysts on good and bad but the job you do you have the ability to top up a charge on job site but for doing some jobs people will need to rely on charging stations and as you went to one and the pitiful 2 chargers were in use the gov need to get their head out their arse and demand all supper markets start ramping up installations. EVM did a good video on as you go about your day either work or shop plug in and trickel charge so then you don't hold up people that need a good charge but this only works if we have the infrastructure but with a 20 mile radius of me there is one charger 🤦♂️ yes its a rural area but times ticking.

You can dress it up all you like, but look at how many times you have to charge the thing, and this has quite a range, most van drivers wouldn't have the luxury of topping up at people's houses, so would be popping in and out of service stations, ok for shopping trolley, but not a commercial vehicle.

The suspension was tweaked we were told on the launch of the new ZOE that it was adjusted to make it more stable on country lanes etc.
