Minute 8.28- I just love the picture of cars stopping for mama cat carrying her baby across the street. It melted my heart.

I love old photos, thank you for this compilation. The horse running showed how a horse has all of its feet off of the ground at a certain point.
I think I read somewhere that until those photos were taken they couldn’t be sure if all feet were off the ground at the same time!

I’ve been to H a few times, as I’m from Yorkshire, but finally, I managed to go to the parsonage 🙏🏻😊I had to hold back tears when I saw ‘the table’…particularly when it said, ‘Emily wrote Wuthering Heights here.’ Didn’t go in Black Bull sadly🙃It really was Branwell’s local wasn’t it! 🍻

I was really struck by the similarity between the Eadweard Muybridge's 'couple dancing' from 1887 and the painting 'Dance in the Country' by Renoir of 1883 (There's also the even better known 'Dance at Bougival' same artist and date) they could be the same couple doing the same thing!!!!! Is this the earliest known celebrity dance couple in motion doing an encore?

I learnt some VERY DEFINITELY INTERESTING new facts.. about the Statue of Liberty for example.. and window tappers and spirit photography! Love the "first photos," especially the *"terriying man"* at 12:48.. 😱😆 How cool is he! Thanks, Tez.. 👍👏

I love looking at old photographs. My favourite in this video was the photo of Vincent Van Gogh. I didn't even know that a photo of him existed!!!
I live in Hamilton, Ontario, and, luckily we've had several authors through the years who have published books of old photos of the city. I have a nice little collection of 7 such books. It's so much fun to see photos of stores, homes, music venues and live theatres (of which we actually had many), and businesses that no longer exist, and be able to place exactly where they used to be. My favourite is a photo of farmland intersected by a dirt road that is now one of the busiest intersections in the city.
We have a very big arts community in Hamilton, and many of our musicians and actors have achieved international success. The first was Florence Lawrence, the silent film star and the actress often called The First Movie Star. 😊🇨🇦
You’re like me then … I love to do that. I used to have a fabulous book about Leek in Staffordshire and I used to walk around comparing the scenes - but I lost the book and it’s not available anymore 🙈. Thanks for your comment - from one Terry to another Terri

love these! Even the ones I've seen before..Please do this again....just wonderful. My kids are grown now, but I've shown them several of the famous ones in the past...honestly, I think two of my favorites have always been the Mama Cat, and the first Daguerrotype with a person in it. The first time I saw that man having his shoes shined I stared at it for a good hour, searching every detail. As a historian and photographer they are just fascinating. Please can you do one just of Blitz photographs? The inhabitants of London and the Royal Family were so brave and fierce it made me thrill. Just amazing~ even the stories of how hard people fought on the Jersey Isles under German occupation. Somehow the human spirit always wins, even under the worst circumstances! Thank you so much!

Aircraft carriers still blow my mind. Thanks for the photos! And the war bride is priceless. Thank goodness the photographer put in the war damage! Carry on, Blitz spirit! The running horse was the first proof that they had all feet off the ground at a point in a gallop. They thought they would just fall over, even though it was a theory. That’s what I read a long time ago. This was really interesting
The Shroud of Turin is a proven fake. It is, however, almost certainly a photographic negative. Although the technique for fixing the image is unknown (many suspect it is the work of Leonardo da Vinci - the face even looks like him), it could potentially lay claim to being the world's first photograph.

@@verynearlyinterestinga historian called Charles Freeman has written persuasively on this: not a "fake", but art created as a prop for the Easter service. Only later did people start falsely claiming it was "the" shroud.

I always enjoy your videos but I found the music on this one to be much too loud and very irritating. Turning the volume down to where I found it tolerable made your narration almost inaudible.
