7:04 ...."It's like an endless desert".... According to Mad Max lore, the Wastelands are basically the bottom of the sea, after the world's oceans dry out, due to nuclear war...... It's more obvious in the Mad Max videogame, where you can see rusty boats and ships.....
Other than a quick Black and White archive shot of a nuke at the beginning of Mad Max, I've never seen anything that actually proves Nukes are the canonical reason for the dry earth. Like much of the series, the first seems to be 'ignored' for lore purposes. Science has advanced enough for us to make our own conclusions as to the nature of the world as we now find it - and Yes - I have the Mad Max game installed now as I type - on my 3rd play through.
The director, George Miller, just began filming the prequel to this, entitled "Furiosa," which stars a younger actress playing Furiosa in her earlier days.
George Miller? Furiosa? Is there anything with that Nux guy? I feel like he stole the entire show when I saw that movie. Forget how long ago it was but it almost feels old now. I'd probably watch more of that actor's movies.
When trying to come up with a way to describe this movie to people who hadn't seen it yet the best term I came up with was "immersive". This film transports you to this world, bathes you in it and leaves you shocked and awed at what you have witnessed. It's one of the best action movies of all time and a must see for anyone, not just action junkies.
When he says, "don't become addicted to water" reminds me when I was a kid. Back East by the oceans and all the rivers and the bay, I used to swim and take 5 showers a day. I used to play in the woods and explore frozen swamps, and you could drive through places where it was pitch black at noon as the trees grew like a cave high above the roads. Moved here to Texas and saw nothing but thirsty trees. Out here I could feel 10 lbs of sun sitting on my hair. Only 110 degrees and had to climb a bit up on an electric tower just to see above the tall grass. First time I ever heard anything about a recharge zone and waiting for the rains. All that had me worried when they leave the tap on for the ending. lol
"This is just tremendous!" Perfect summation of the tectonic experience that is FURY ROAD, Dasha. One of my fondest memories at the movies. I was always a fan of George Miller, but in 2015 I became what they call a die-hard.
You should watch the "first" three Mad Max movies. They are really good, really, really good. Don't listen to the haters, even the third one great. It's like the "Fast Forward to the Future" trilogy.
Whew. Good to know the doggo's okay. Hope he recovers soon. Just to let you know - this isn't a work of fiction. This is actually a documentary that covers around 48 hours in the life of a milk delivery driver in the Australian outback, when the Internet went down in Australia. 😛 4:56 Yup. Typical Australian guitar guy. 17:20 I believe that the rifle (actually, carbine) that Furiosa uses is a Simonov SKS - a Russian carbine that uses the same ammunition as the AK47.
You should totally check out "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" and "Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome" from the 80s with Mel Gibson. Great movies. The Road Warrior itself set the standard for how we think of post-apocalyptic settings.
I'm not even a huge action movie guy but I still remember the first time watching this movie. It's phenomenal. You can talk about the spectacular action all day but I honestly think the movie is really well written too. Such great characters and dialog
That's what sets it apart as a great action movie instead of just a regular action movie. Anyone can put a bunch of fights, explosions and chases together and make a halfway decent action film (assuming they hold the goddamn camera still), but if you want people to remember the name of that movie ten years later it has to have more than that.
Mad Max sets up Max's character and the reasons he became Mad. But it was a very low budget movie and it shows. But it's the introduction of Max and that is enough to watch it. It does show its low budget origins though. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior was the first movie I saw and it amps up the story and the action quite a bit. Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunder Dome is a bit of a strange duck in the series as it originally wasn't meant to be a Mad Max movie, but the producers got in touch with the director of MM and MM2 (George Miller) and convinced him to bring Mad Max into the story they wanted to make. BTW: George Miller directed all of the Mad Max movies, so what you get is the vision of the creator of Mad Max in each of the movies.
This movie is sort of a "reboot" of the franchise, but it is not a re-make of any of the earlier movies. It is its own unique story and the fourth in the series chronologically, however the title character, Max, is played by a different actor (Tom Hardy) and featuring Charlize Theron as "Imperator Furiosa". In the original trilogy Mel Gibson plays Max in all three movies. Mad Max (1979), begins just prior to the downfall of society, develops Max's character and shows the events that "break" Max (causing him be become "mad"), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) is my personal favorite and takes place after the downfall of society, Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome (1985) continues Max's saga and features Tina Turner as the "Aunty Entity", the ruler of "Bartertown" and a ruthless nemesis to Max. After seeing this movie, think of the original trilogy as "the prequels". Gear-heads love these movies because of the hot-rod cars, and car chases. The first Mad Max being set early in the story-line is much less "savage" but by the second, Max is a brutal bad-ass. Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played the villain "Toe Cutter" in the original Mad Max returns in this film as the villain "Immortan Joe".
"He said 'Witness me,' and then he... became suicidal. Is that, like, uh... Um, how does that called, like...?" I think the word you're looking for is "martyr," or "martyrdom."
Awww, poor doggo! This movie is so wild. It was nominated for the Oscar for Best Cinematography (shoulda won). It's pretty incredible how they filmed the action. They were aware of the direction of motion so they would place something of importance in the center, and if if moved to the side of the screen, the next shot would focus on another moving object from that same point and it would move back to the center for the following shot. Your eyes were being purposefully guided throughout the whole scene so you didn't get lost in the chaos. It's really brilliant. Also, they began filming the Furiosa prequel.
I absolutely love the Mad max movies. I was so excited to see Fury Road and it did not disappoint. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Tom Hardy is swinging from side to side looking back at the Chaos behind him. It reminded me of silent films but obviously not silent.
0:54 Just a sequel. Far removed from the others and they recast Max with Tom Hardy. Previously played by Mel Gibson. Out of all the Mad Max movies, this one is by far my favorite.
Quite a few people were disappointed by how little Max plays a part in this story, but it illustrates what George Miller says about the films. The *first* film is Max's story but the following sequels are stories centered around other characters, using Max as a window to their world.
You should watch “Lawless”. It stars Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman & more. It’s about a family of moonshiners & It’s set in the depression / prohibition era in the USA and is a true story. If you like Tom Hardy you’ll like “Lawless” Another very good Tom Hardy movie is “Legend”. This is another true story where Tom plays a set of twins who are basically top mafia type people in London in the 60s. Very good in my opinion but I may be biased as I am also a big TomHardy fan.
Bear in mind this is a sequel / soft-remake to the _Mad Max_ series made decades ago with young Mel Gibson. The original _Mad Max_ was made on a shoestring budget and is his original story, then each one after that gets progressively larger scale and more expensive. The 2nd one, _Road Warrior_ is considered to be the best of the original trilogy, and is in many ways most similar to this movie. The series is more of an anthology like the _Fistful of Dollars_ movies, where they have the same main character and some returning actors, but each story is completely self contained and the main character is just a visiting helper in someone else's story. _Fury Road_ is notable because it was made after a decades-long hiatus by the same director, and you can really tell that they used that time to prepare all the storyboards and design. Arguably the best-realized of the whole bunch (though there are still plenty of _Road Warrior_ fans around).
My other favorite films in this genre are waterworld (1995), and The Postman (1997). Both star Kevin Costner. The Ostman is very inspirational and easily the best film of the 1990s.
if you really love Tom you should see Locke. i don't think its really a movie for the channel so much because there's no action, but his acting is so good. i mean i personally would like to see your reaction and your thoughts on it but just know ahead of time the movie is very simple it's just Tom driving someplace taking phone calls in his car for 90 minutes. that sounds awful, but in each phone call more is revealed about what is going on and because he's such a good actor you can get pulled into this moment in his character's life when it seems like everything is falling to pieces. if you ever had a time in your life when it seemed like everything changed in a short time or because you made one really difficult decision, you'll have a lot of feelings for this little movie. but if not then maybe you'd just think "nothing happens"
I've never heard of this before, but I can see an actor of Tom Hardy's caliber pulling something like that off. It's got potential, might check it out. Maybe Dasha will too.
4:40 Exactly. Fury is the state of being furious... just different tenses of the same concept basically. 5:00 The guy with the flaming guitar is called the Doof Warrior, if I remember correctly.
The director/creator is an ER doctor and wanted realistic stunts and injuries in more movies when he created the first movie. Recommend them highly. A little grim perhaps, but theyre heroic AF, a lot of well known movie not only steal from the, but some base their entire plot off of one scene from one of these movies (I am looking at you, Saw).
This movie surprises everybody no matter what you think it's going to be from the trailer that promotes it I saw this movie in 3D at the movie theater day one when it came out it was freaking insane the concrete floor in the theater shook like there was an earthquake because of so many vehicles in the movie driving at the same time phenomenally done movie visually spectacular and also everything is practical effects only thing that is computerized CGI is the sandstorm at the beginning of the movie the rest is all done practical real life old school movie effects I'm glad you enjoyed the movie and you could not predict what was happening in the movie that's what a movie is supposed to do as much as possible nowadays!
Admittedly, I didn't exactly walk into this with high hopes. For one thing, no Mel Gibson. For me, I've long believed that there are just some roles that can't be recast. The fact that George Miller, who directed the first three, didn't fill me with confidence, either. There are many examples of once-groundbreaking filmmakers who, after years of not having a single hit, fall back on a sequel to something they made years ago... (Robert Evans, "The Two Jakes"...Peter Bogdanovich, "Texasville"...Blake Edwards' attempts to keep the Pink Panther series going after Peter Sellers' death, etc.)....but when it came to this movie, I was dead wrong. Miller is still in fine form.

Fun reaction to watch. This is easily the best action movie ever, for many of us, and it works on multiple levels. I love the commentary on religion: The WarBoys are all dying of cancer ( their half-lives) and an old man promises them Heaven and Immortality if they obey him and die for him. So many layers to this movie that you get every time you watch it. The guitarist with the flamethrower was like the Drummer Boys of old, on steroids!
George Millwer directed all 4 mMad Max films. My favorite is the first one. t gives ax Rockatansky's backstory and explains how he got his leg brace. He had the same car in all the movies until it was destroyed in Fury Toad.
the way you empathized with Nux immediately was excellent, and i knew you'd be heartbroken when he gave his life for the team. Dont cry for him though...he's in Valhalla, the most shiny and chrome of them all.
He got what he always wanted from the start - a heroic death in battle. It was just in service of people who actually care about him rather than some guy who doesn't even know his name.

The 4th film in the series. This is not a reboot. It is a continuation of Mad Max. In fact, if you see the series, you can see how the world is starting to crumble. 1st Film: Mad Max = Still civilization. Max is a cop but things are going bad. 2nd Film: Road Warrior = Civilization is gone but there are out crops of fuel and weapons. 3rd Film: Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome = Umm, weird stuff. 4th Film: Mad Max: Fury Road = Btichin! Also, all the films are suppose to be in Australia and the crumbling of the world is due to resource loss. Not Nuclear fallout.

What I would've given to see the Oscars do a Mad Max: Fury Road musical number that year and have the Doof Warrior come out on stage with his flamethrower guitar. It would've been incredible. 🤘
Back in the day? Lmaoo
@@hartspot009 fr back on the day was 7 years ago... lmao
It's insane that they did all these effects for this movie for real. Only a few things at the beginning and end are computer generated.
@@terrylandess6072 Is movie science.... Made by people you know they're scientist because they wear white lab coats and glasses......
The director, George Miller, just began filming the prequel to this, entitled "Furiosa," which stars a younger actress playing Furiosa in her earlier days.
Still waiting for Babe: Beyond Bacondome, though.
@@petersvillage7447 or Happy Feetaggedon: The Reckoning
George Miller? Furiosa? Is there anything with that Nux guy? I feel like he stole the entire show when I saw that movie. Forget how long ago it was but it almost feels old now. I'd probably watch more of that actor's movies.
I liked her in The Northman so there's hope she'll pull it off cleanly: Anya Taylor-Joy.
@@jayeisenhardt1337 That Nux guy was Beast and his lancer was Striker from the Xmen 'prequels' as was one of the 'Breeders' - the Kravitz chick.
All that had me worried when they leave the tap on for the ending. lol
3:07 for the timestamp
"This is just tremendous!"
Perfect summation of the tectonic experience that is FURY ROAD, Dasha.
One of my fondest memories at the movies. I was always a fan of George Miller, but in 2015 I became what they call a die-hard.
"5 pretty girls...plus charlize theron" is hilarious
You should watch the "first" three Mad Max movies. They are really good, really, really good. Don't listen to the haters, even the third one great. It's like the "Fast Forward to the Future" trilogy.
Whew. Good to know the doggo's okay. Hope he recovers soon.
Just to let you know - this isn't a work of fiction. This is actually a documentary that covers around 48 hours in the life of a milk delivery driver in the Australian outback, when the Internet went down in Australia. 😛
4:56 Yup.
Melhor ainda assistir desde o primeiro pra entender as motivações de Max Rockatansky.....
BTW: George Miller directed all of the Mad Max movies, so what you get is the vision of the creator of Mad Max in each of the movies.
one of the best action movies in recent memory...they don't rely on exposition, just visual storytelling
The marks left on the ground by feet or vehicles are indeed called "tracks".
Check out The Red Violin.
Also, they began filming the Furiosa prequel.
a sequel ? outstanding news tks
They actually built all the vehicles and stunt drivers really drove them, destroying most of them in the course of filming.
If you like Tom Hardy you’ll like “Lawless”
Another very good Tom Hardy movie is “Legend”.
Fury Road is the most well planned and executed film in the franchise, and The Road Warrior is still awesome. Two things can be true at once.
This was a movie that deserved to be on the big screen. It was a visual spectacle.
This might be the GOAT action movie.
This, Aliens and The Raid: Berandal are the holy trinity, I think.
My other favorite films in this genre are waterworld (1995), and The Postman (1997). Both star Kevin Costner. The Ostman is very inspirational and easily the best film of the 1990s.
Hey now I have seen enough dashcam vids to know that this movie is a like a slow tuesday on Russian roads! ;)
This is a glorious piece of visual art - the only film I've watched one evening and again the following morning.
if you really love Tom you should see Locke. i don't think its really a movie for the channel so much because there's no action, but his acting is so good. i mean i personally would like to see your reaction and your thoughts on it but just know ahead of time the movie is very simple it's just Tom driving someplace taking phone calls in his car for 90 minutes. that sounds awful, but in each phone call more is revealed about what is going on and because he's such a good actor you can get pulled into this moment in his character's life when it seems like everything is falling to pieces. if you ever had a time in your life when it seemed like everything changed in a short time or because you made one really difficult decision, you'll have a lot of feelings for this little movie. but if not then maybe you'd just think "nothing happens"
I've never heard of this before, but I can see an actor of Tom Hardy's caliber pulling something like that off. It's got potential, might check it out. Maybe Dasha will too.
Madmax 1,2 and 3. All with Mel Gibson, They are awesome also you will see the Directors style is the same. Nice video Dasha👍
Best part of my day - Dasha!
Oh cool! You have one of those 4 legged lamps.
7:48 "Who taught them how to drive?" Driving school and DMV test 😁
One of my favorite movies ever.
Every vehicle is real. They actually built them for real. All the stunts are practical. Theres very little CGI in this film
Just the sandstorm, if I remember correctly.
@@jeremyfrost2636 yeah, definitely the storm. Also a lot of skylines and backdrops
Mad Max 1 is recommended if you want to know the character's origin (though I'm not a huge fan). Part 2, "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" is incredible.
Poor doggo all coned up
27:44 Furiosa Team Dasha certified ✅
This movie is non-stop action, and a feast for the eyes. So much fun.
Its ok Dasha im in love with Tom Hardy too and im straight.
I remember watching this in the theatre and when this was done, I was SO tired just from watching all the action!
If ever there was a movie worthy of an extra-long reaction.
Rosie Whiteley Huntington is two movies in her entire life this movie and Transformers Dark of the Moon.
This is the 4th in the Mad Max series. The first 3 star Mel Gibson. This movie was actually written 20+ years ago before it got made. Great flick.
I'm glad that you enjoyed this, also.
Probably my favorite movie ever made. Practical effects and amazing stunts always make things better!
The guys swinging on the tall poles are called polecats.
I just love it when your enthusiasm is so high. Makes for a good watch, just watching you, good job.

great movie. good pick. check out the story of the director. real neat.
Poor baby doesn't like the cone. I hope he is doing better!
Hello. Loved your take on this movie and I loved watching with you. This movie has become one of my favorite action films and the old movies are also great especially the first one. Keep up the great work!
This is a good movie but nothing is as good as road warrior. IMO
You ABSOLUTELY should see the original Mad Max trilogy to understand this movie better...
Lots of oi oi ois! Not a single fu fu fu!. Glad you didn't actually pass out with the blood transfer at the end. And it was nice to see you energetic over this movie. I've been waiting all week for this reaction
I love how you say "you know?" after every sentence, it makes for a fun drinking game
I still remember since I watched the first trailer, that was insane, I really loved that. So I got to invited my friend to the theater, after we watched it, just WOW! That was intense, perfect in every aspect, how lucky I am. Indeed, this movie is the greatest action movie of decade. Period.
Oh poor boy has to wear the "cone of shame". Get better little buddy. Also great reaction as always Dasha.
I don't think Dasha's seen Up yet (bring tissues for that one, Dasha), so she might not get the cone of shame reference.
@@jeremyfrost2636 I forgot about that. She should definitely give Up a try.. I've been saying cone of shame since the early 90's. It's what I thought I heard someone say at the vet office. And it just stuck.
@@louiscypher9558 The writers of Up had to get it from somewhere, I bet it was in use already before that movie came out.
It's a very strong beginning that never stops! Great film!
If I may make a suggestion, Dasha, you should check out Top Gun from 1986. The new movie just came out in theatres, and I hope you get the chance to check out the original.
👍
The practical effects here are really appreciated and done well. The only part that looks kinda wonky is the CGI sandstorm. And the Doof Warrior with his flamethrower guitar is beyond badass.
Nux: 'If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die historic on the Fury Road!'
They literally told us what would happen. :(
I think the word you are looking for is "Epic". Love your reactions, you are so genuine and entertaining. Keep it coming!
Witness Me, Dasha!
Good job Dasha. I'm glad Hugo is alright and hope the cone comes off him soon. Please think about reaching to Strange Brew for Canada Day. It would be a real treat for your Canadian viewers (like myself). Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing what you have for us next week.
I love the cone head dog running around in the background 🐶
Dasha: you cannot live without water!
Immortan Joe: Bet
They believe in Norse mythology , old scandinavian mythology. What Vikings believed in. Them saying "I'm awaken in Valhalla" gives it away. Valhalla is like their heaven , and they believe to get there u gotta die on the battlefield. That's why they don't fear death , and instead embrace it.
This is a movie that connects others.. I forgot to suggest another multi-movie in my last comment, you know the "Empathy Is Your Super Power", The Maze Runner" trilogy is my favorite as it begs the question, "is it real?" Thank You for being you. ☺️
THE ROAD WARRIOR (1981)
Mel Gibson
Released in Australia as MAD MAX 2
George Miller is absolutely a genius. I would love to see Dasha react to the "Babe" movies.
