I wouldn't recommend anyone to move here. I been stuck here for almost 2 months and I just want to go back home to texas where I'm from. I just came to visit and ended up getting stuck here. I just want to go back home. Can someone help me get back home? I'm so homesick. I miss my elderly mother. I miss all my family
I lived in West Haven from 1963 and went to Noble School. We then moved to florida. I was horrified the negative comments. Still thank you for this video! Many many childhood memories i wish i could relive there..2021
Thanks for watching! I lived in west haven for a few years about 20 years ago and couldn’t believe how much it had changed when I visited at the time I took this video. The people were so rude. Traffic was horrible. It just looked dirty. Of course captain Thomas blvd and the Savin rock area was nice. But other than that, I wouldn’t want to go back.
@@601TRAVELS Well, I would greatly appreciate some videos of the 'Darker Side' or negative sides of both West and New Haven. Are they as bad as the some of the footage like in your other videos from Mississippi?
I know, I am hoping people aren't getting sick of it! I am almost done with the New England content and will be going back to the Southeast areas before I venture back out (probably toward AR/Dallas/OK) to get more cities.. Thanks for watching! 👍😀
@@601TRAVELS No! We appreciate anything you post! I love Dallas! Been there three times and have really understood the area. It's very big! Lot's of new stuff. Plenty of space. Reminds me I need to check out Houston better.
I grew up in West Haven and I still go back to visit because it's my hometown. There are a lot of stores and restaurants I still go to. Nice drive through Campbell Ave, but the lighting of the day didn't highlight the beauty of the city. Plus, the beach is the main attraction of the city. Savin Rock has a huge history. The amusement park on the beach was a big thing. This beach bedroom city will always have its beauty
I lived over by UNH for about 5 years and I think West Haven changed a lot. You are right though, the day was miserable for a drive to begin with. Before shooting the video I sat on the beach at Savin rock and waited for the sky to open but it never really got the way I was hoping. Regardless there are a lot of memories there for me as well. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
West haven ,Ct isn't a bad place to live. I live in New Haven you get use to the crime and the shootings. Hartford , New Haven,Bridgeport are the most dangerous, but your not safe any where. People come from the other towns to get drugs and commit other crimes. It's the people , I love New Haven been here most of my life. If these people would just stop with the violence and drugs .As a child we use to go to savin rock it was great, but they had alot of business back then. West Haven is up and com ing.
At first I’m thinking, very dull town, and the houses look old but look like very high end places the time they were built? It like a very clean and well kept town so I’ll take it a lot of decent clean living people live there? Those power lines look to low at intersections! 🚚⚡️☠️ Nice drive 👍
Thanks for watching! I had this long thing typed out where I cussed these asshole drivers who were giving me shit for being out of state and called the city a dump but I decided to delete it. Its got some good parts but its a total dump in others. I think Michael Bolton has a beach house there. I hope those power lines electrocute some of the residents. Its funny how places change.
Sorry I guess I am still just REALLY bitter. I felt unsafe more than once and I didn't even go into the really bad parts. Having people driving really aggressive behind/around you and getting nervous when stopping at a red light with them because you are expecting them to come up to your window type feeling. When I lived there I never noticed it. I think they saw the southern plate and they just assumed I was some lost idiot who didn't know where I was or where I was going.
Thats odd, must people are very friendly in WH. All of my family is from there and I was there until after high school. I wouldn't even say WH us truly ghetto. It has lower income areas in Allentown...but the true ghettos is in New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford. West Haven is still a beautiful city, but each is own. Everyone has their own opinion
I used to live literally down the road from UNH off the Boston post road (Rt 1) and can say that it is a hit or miss. West Haven has a lot of crime being so close to new haven. I would call the police department and ask specifically about where you are looking to rent/buy. Overall West Haven is not very safe but it’s not the worst place to live. Good luck to you and thanks for leaving a comment. I hope you will stick around and subscribe. 👍🏻🙂
Allentown area is a little more ghetto due to New Haven, I agree. However, if you go more towards the beach and Milford it is much better. Closer to Orange is a hit or miss. I've lived all over WH.
First off you got the name wrong. It's known as WASTE HAVEN What's this a promotional tour for waste Haven? Noticed you stayed in all the same areas. I would've given people a tour of all the apartment complexes and really show what lives in waste Haven. Hey here's an idea I name some streets for you to park your car on at night. Hey you didn't show the drug addicts begging at the highway ramp and Walmart. New Haven moved to waste Haven a long time ago. In all seriousness I can remember the first black cop in West Haven
Come to think of it I remember when Milford only had one black person and the house was off exit 36 across from the Exon where they put the hotel. Let's tour all waste Haven's projects.
I remember Milford being like that, too. I think there was 1 black guy in my graduating class. People got pissed when they brought in affordable housing, magnet schools, etc.. Then slowly people from Bridgeport, West Haven, New Haven, etc.. starting moving in and they got pissed again. It wasn't just black folk that were bringing drugs and crime into the town though, it was everyone from the other shit areas that were moving in.. Now, Milford wants their small little city back and its too late. Its over populated, over built and over priced!
True story I dropped out of high school and got my GED because my parents moved to West Haven and I didn't want to go to West Haven schools because it was so violent at the time.
I went to UNH for my masters and got the F out of there immediately when the last class ended. I live in the bay area and this place is a dump lol. Last day of my grad degree, i went back to my apartment The Novella and got my bags and immediately to JFK. I never stepped back into CT since 2016

Lived in west haveny whole life on that street and the food is amazing
I moved from CT over 35 years ago, so I rfeally appreciate these videos. West Haven doesn't look like the warzone it is made out to be.
Yeah west havens not as bad as new haven but it’s getting close lol

Who makes it out as a war zone? That's ridiculous
Nah the Savin rock area got overrun by crazy teens doing whatever they want
When I was a kid I lived on Ocean Ave,1963 to 68,went to Seth Haley school,Jimmy's,Savin Rock, loved it
You sure really managed to create a lot of New England content!
Glad to see some different places!

Well we have a sort of rich history
As someone who lives here as a freshman I can say after a 138 million dollars we have a pretty nice high School 👍
What happened to Savin Rock? Last time I saw it was in the early 40s. Jimmy's? Great memories.
The rock is still there, that is about it! Not like the good ole days...
Great place to live b4 81 ,taxes to high people who moved in VERY LOUD & HAVE NO RESPECT FOR OTHERS so kid just run the streets
Yep! Might as well be new haven.
Is it safe to live there, because I'm thinking to study at University of New Haven?

Don't move here. Texas is a way better place to live.
High taxes in the city and state. Texas ZERO state income tax.
