Elefant Traks did you know Joel's heading out on tour with Astronomy Class? make sure you catch him, here's the info: www.elefanttraks.com/news/astronomy-class-joelistics-announce-blue-sunrise-tour/
I've had this song on my enormous phone playlist for a few years now. Last night the girlfriend and I spent about 30 minutes trying to find this track on youtube, going off a few pieces of lyric I kept humming to myself. I hope this powerful track gains the recognition it deserves. I consider it one of the deepest songs about the mistakes of youth, a boy becoming a man, of forgiveness, of love. Every time this track queues up while I'm on my commute, you've got this guy in his mid 30's, living in landlocked central USA, belting out lines about fishing trawlers and tearing up when they finally reunite at the end. And for the record, I had to google what a fishing trawler actually was after hearing this song. Please keep making music the way you do!
Kaity Dunstan, OMG your voice is so damn beauty. I just want to listen her all day long. And this song is amazing. The story behind is crazy and beautiful.
This is excellent. Except I can't watch it without crying at the moment, having just gone through a breakup caused by my own actions. "Out of the blue loves saves us. Out of the blue we all learn that lesson." When am I going to learn? I don't know, but this song gives me hope.
Abso-friggen-lutely dude. Thought exactly the same thing and came here to see if anyone else picked it. Same story, just a modern telling. Both classics.
When I become a teacher (which I really want to teach high school, NSW) we'd have to teach a topic called "facing adversity" and when I have to to that topic this will be the perfect example for facing adversity. Seriously people need to stop criticising Australian artists because most of them are really good it's just those select few artists that give Aussie hiphop a bad name. Joel, you're an inspiration to all youth and I hope you keep on at it!
I have been searching for this song forever! I heard it over a few months ago on MTV. I forgot the name of the song but i luckily stumbled across it by trying to find some new music and boy, am I glad.
i'm glad you found it tom... if you'd like to check out more of Joel's songs you can check out his latest album here: www.elefanttraks.com/store/blue-volume/
Thank you Joel for sharing this wonderful creation. I have listened to this track at least 10 times since I found it last night, and the lyrics and video put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes every time. Given we went to the same school, lived in the same city, and have very similar views on the current state of the world(based on your lyrics in the songs I have listened to); I'd like to say thank you for sharing your creations so honestly and rawly, straight from the heart. Keep on walking the talk
Yo yo Again, what an awesome modern day story telling, poetical masterpiece from home grown Australian talent. I thought I'd share this info in case any of you hadn't stumbled across it already. A few of months ago I discovered that the actors in this film clip are from an Australian made movie called Galore. Basically the target audience i'd suspect would be "young adult" or similar, however both the movie, Joe'ls track and the film clip all tie in seamlessly well with each other. My guess is that, if you like this particular track, possibilities are that you'd enjoy the blend of all these story's, in each of their forms, being track, film clip and movie. Cant help but admire Joel's dedication not only to his band works with TZU, solo production/releases but also his well structured professional finish of film work that helps tie his unique Australian story telling tracks together. Having no doubt He utilizes the knowledge and resources of many other talented industry film and music experts via collaboration, You cant take away the amount of workload, passion and time that would and does go into these productions, usually at minimal artist funding's. Check out the Aussie film "galore" starring the actors from this film clip. Although the story lines are a little different I couldn't help but admire (probably being a slightly biased Australian) the quality and connection between all three of these works. and the familiarity found in the Aussie stories. Many of our actors, musicians and artist will often put a lot more into their productions than they will ever get back. They all deserve a certain level of respect, let alone a few extra bucks in their pockets for their hard work, in what is not an easy industry in Australia to break into. Hope you enjoy. Peace, Stay Safe
Has anyone commented about the drum beat in the background? Like Toy Soldiers, its been damn near 10 years since I listened to that song but the second I heard it. Pure nostalgia...
This song made my shitty day something special. Weird question but does anyone know how can I find music similar with that song? I ve heard all the Joelistics and he has great songs but this one made the difference!
I love this song too. Heard it today for the first time in spoken word from Joelistics at Speech Therapy in Melbourne tonight. A similar song (thematically) is To Her Door by Paul Kelly - another Australian artist. Both songs tell the same story in different ways. Both are close to my heart.
+Yola_Babe should listen to the new Urthboy song. It's hard in hip hop (especially the politically charged Australian hip hop) to find love stories. Another good one is Tattoo by Tuka, and also a lot of Thundamentals tracks (i.e. Smiles Don't Lie and So We Can Remember).
This song is so good that it makes me think, how many good music is out there that i haven´t found yet...
Good music is always around us. It's just more difficult to find in todays mainstream.
This is such a beautiful passionate story, I'm in love!
Siren Art and Music a beautiful story to match Joel's beautiful words.. thanks for checking it out

Is anyone else reminded of Paul Kelly's song 'To Her Door' by this? Love both, just curious
Abso-friggen-lutely dude. Thought exactly the same thing and came here to see if anyone else picked it. Same story, just a modern telling. Both classics.
