Blacks and Hispanics keep “luxury” fashion labels in business. We need to stop that now. Quit trying to impress people and save your money! Btw, Kirkland brand is high quality and quite affordable. A cwry important conversation that needs to be had on a larger scale. But i think the issue that's overlooked is "integration" was detrimental to Black people. Once we were allowed in those once "forbidden" places we stopped circulating our money in our communities. We thought we were missing out. But within our own neighborhoods we had amazing craftsman , seamstress, dress makers, builders , grocers and the list can go on and on. Our neighborhoods turned into abandoned ghettos and here we are! Sad.

When my family and me came to this country when I was young. All I knew being in Brooklyn and spending summers in Miami was to look good and be successful it was based on what you wore and drove. In my teens saw many of us Latinos and Blacks in Brooklyn always flashing around with our name brand things. Especially on my Cuban (mom)side but also was told make sure you buy a home and having nice things make you important. My dad side(Panamanian) always felt what you wore and drove doesn't define you. When I went into the military (Army) and moved in Army Spec Ops I was taught about different type of investment for long-term returns and for my future family and I was in my early 20's. When I brought that information back to friends in Brooklyn some reject that knowledge. I retired from the military but now working as a federal gov. employee and I am in my early 40's and thankful that I understood that having luxurious things doesn't define you because. This world is designed to keep people in debt based on pushing the idea that what you buy make you someone of importance to others.
@@kimberlyowens5496 I won't say a better life because struggles comes in everything. I just escaped the system of thinking to be someone is based on things. Im only 45 so let me start by saying that growing up in the 80s, the corner stores were run by Arabs mostly named Sam😅 and they were cool hard working people who would have their children at the cash register ringing us up at 8-10 years old. Now that im older, i often wonder what kind of agreement did the US have with these other countries to allow middle easterns to come in to the country in specifically blk neighborhoods. And i wonder where was the cbc, naacp, al Sharpton and jesse Jackson during these times. Where were they? And where were blk foke over the years as the Chinese came in and did the same thing, ironically in blk neighborhoods. Ask yourself why would a blk person regardless of political party advocate for "other" to come to their home on account in spite of proclaiming to have BUILT this home but because the yt man stole it, you can't tell "other" to stay out. Hopefully you get where im going with this. If my comment can be summed up it would be THIS, Blk pepo were sold to the highest bidder a long time ago and watched it happen but because a certain party can get a certain group of people to be in their feelings and be distracted by the carrot "they" replaced you. Being bad with money is actually the least of your worries. As I drive through the inner city from the suburbs i see "other" running the gas station to the mini grocery, to the corner store, liquor store etc. And "they've" been buying up entire neighborhoods. And here we are taking about Debbie Allen not being recognized in a department store 😅
Business goes where there is demand. The US govt. doesn’t have to have agreements for Arabs, Indians and Chinese to recognize the opportunities that exist in underserved communities. You need to invest in them instead if you don’t want others to “prey” on Black neighborhoods. I’m looking at buying rundown properties in Baltimore now because someone is buying them up…and Baltimore won’t be rundown forever. Try to see the future and invest in it to make sure it is better than the past.

This is what put things in perspective for me: I’ve always wanted a Louis Vuitton bag. I’ve had the money to treat myself to one many times but I’ve never been able to take the plunge on a mental level. This year, my husband told me he’d buy me my dream bag, a bag I’ve been eyeing for YEARS. I then looked up how much it costs them to manufacture the bag and found out that while it would cost me $1800 plus tax to purchase the bag, it costs Louis Vuitton $150-$180 to manufacture it. I said “OH HECK NO!” It’s not just Louis, it’s all of the designers. Jordan profit margin per pair is ridiculous as well. You’re paying for the name, do you wanna pay for some strangers name who would treat you like a diseased rodent if you walked up to speak to them? I don’t. I settled on a very lovely Michael Kors bag I got on sale for less than $80 and bought a new MacBook(also on sale) for less than I would’ve spent on that one stupid high end bag, . It’s still beautiful, still timeless, still great quality. To heck with those labels. Imagine being so shallow that you tie someone’s worth to their ability to make frivolous purchases. Keep them lifted up in prayer.

As a blk American I’m fully aware of our history but it’s the 21st century now and we should know better by now, we talking about grown adults we are not helpless babies that the white man has to take care of… too many of our ppl chose fake imagery over actually being responsible adults and this cycle needs to end!!
I see this in every run-down neighborhood.
Keep in mind their grandparents' home. Three generations have lived in that uncondemned home, and no money has been spent on up keeping.

This video was suggested to me today. I was going to a buy a luxury designer purse that I have wanted for a looong time. I just finished finals for my very last semester so I wanted to buy myself something nice for getting my degree. I haven’t been able to push that confirm purchase button so I said I’ll sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning. This was the first video recommended when I opened TH-cam this morning. 😬
Buy it!! Life is about living!! As long as you aren't robbing Peter to pay Paul nothing wrong with it, you deserve it. Its a gift to yourself for all your hard work!! Congratulations on your degree and remember at the end of the day it's just money when you die you cant take it with you.❤

Unless you’re graduating debt free slap that payment onto those loans!
Years ago I worked for the number one chemical company in America. We had a lot of different businesses as customers and a clothing manufacturer was one of them. They used as many as up to 8 different name brands tags on the same shirts, shocking 😱
Say what.....wish you could/would tell...
Most of those clothes come from the same manufacturers. China.
@@LKonandupward The clothes were made in my state in the U.S.A. There were a lot of clothes manufacturers in the United States before the government came up with NAFTA. Millions of jobs were lost to overseas companies that provide cheaper labor.
My mom used to work at a bra packing facility in Ventura Ca. She told me the same bras that were being sent to Walmart were sent to Macy's. Some time Macy requested a large order and the facility didn't have anymore so they removed the tags from bras that were going to Walmart and replaced them with Macy tags with a higher price tag.
This is a fact with electronics, clothing and any other items. Most are made by the same company with different tags and labels that affect the price regardless of quality.
@@diegolara4202 thank you. guess, i'm not their target market. i'll tell ladies to buy bras at the lower price. i still wonder which labels are the same.....
Ask yourself. How often do you see upper middle-class and rich people wearing “Luxury” label clothes? They wear Kirkland, aka Costco brand. Blacks and Hispanics keep “luxury” fashion labels in business. We need to stop that now. Quit trying to impress people and save your money!
Btw, Kirkland brand is high quality and quite affordable. I love it. 👍😂
Edit: There’s a difference between high quality designer products and “luxury” brands, tacky usually low quality products.
Yeah, I service rich people and have yet seen a rich person wear expensive clothes, heck even their vehicles are basic.

Some people are more satisfied looking rich than actually being rich. Plus for a long time the culture for black people in the USA was horrible. Some guys were influenced by rappers and some women were influenced by "The Real Housewives of Atlanta".

Spend extra money on things like math and science that are mostly useless in the real world. How about spending the money learning investments and business.

I went through a phase in high school where I bought expensive name brand clothes and realized that it didn’t make me happy. After high school, I bought cheap clothes that looked nice and got tons of compliments on it. At the end of the day no one really cares as long as you look appropriate for the situation. I buy quality if it makes a worthwhile difference at a reasonable price, otherwise, I simply don’t care and will buy the cheapest thing that will solve the problem. Sad.
You are so right, and it's sad. We haven't been as unified since then. It was the beginning of a cultural demise imo
Damn you may have a strong point. Wanted to integrate so damn bad and we wasn't missing nothing.
I am always saying this!!! I wish we were still segregated… Tusla wasn’t the only successful black community as many think. We had successful enclaves all over the US
The issue is uneducated poor blacks were doing better than uneducated poor whites, that’s when it became an issue and they decided to “let us” into their society smh
Big Facts 💯
Insecurity. Young people you’ll realize in your forties that you don’t need much. And will feel foolish for buying it all.

Glad you matured and lived your best life of what this country offers.

If my comment can be summed up it would be THIS,
Blk pepo were sold to the highest bidder a long time ago and watched it happen but because a certain party can get a certain group of people to be in their feelings and be distracted by the carrot "they" replaced you.

@JustBree716 I happen to be an entrepreneur but you don't have to be to make sure you own assets that increase in value. Put income from a job towards acquiring assets now so that we aren't constantly behind. The system isn't changing so we have to. I don't want us to cry when the next wave of people has bought up all our centrally located neighborhoods and displaced us. We have to just start...
@TravelAfricaTours it already happened. That's the point. But it's your right to move forward. Ain't nobody mad but the devil. Happy holidays ❤️

I fell for the Golden Goose Marathon Retro sneakers. They are listed at close to $600, I purchased them from Neiman Marcus at a 15% discount. The quality is absolutely terrible.
