The Marvel Select version is kinda a grail for me. I've seen it first when i was 8 and man, this year i finally got my hands on him. While handling it, i felt the same thing as the one 7 years ago when i first seen him, one of my favorite figures in my small, but growing collection
The Select Venom is such a great piece. Something that came out over a decade ago that can still go toe to toe with most figures in quality and value is very impressive. It was the Venom figure I was waiting for and the only one I needed since. Another excellent Versus with my favorite Spidey character. Well done!
I think the knull two pack is still my favorite, best lashing tongue head sculpt by far. It's the perfect villian venom scale like select, but it can get into more poses. I have the Amazon 3 pack, with the two pack on it's way. I think the three pack venom works best as a lethal protector version. So that's kinda how I'm going to display them, one when he was a villian, the other him as an anti hero.
You just proved my silent point! I’ve had the Marvel Select Venom for years, and he’s become my main venom. Granted he may be a bit all and lacks articulation, but he’s just full of fun and quite personally why I skipped on every Marvel Legends Venom that came after him (Well because they’re harder to find and pretty expensive. Thanks Hasbro)
Exactly. The only way to get two of Hasbro's two best Venom figures is in $78 sets, and the others are too expensive due to after market price increases. Absolutely unacceptable. Select for only $30? Please and thank you.
@@5POAFigureReviews Well I got mine for a Christmas present in 2015, one year before the absorbing man wave one. I did have the opportunity to get the 2018 monster venom reissue though, but passed due to the select one
Love the select version, finally get the reissue last year and it was glorious! I am going get the King in Black 2 pack next since imo the wings and the overall proportion looks much better than the 3 pack one.
I'm someone who prefers sculpt and paint over an insane amount of articulation, so Select is on top for me vs Legends. I own Deluxe and the Pulse exclusive, but I choose to display Select over them. Awesome comparison video. Every version has a case for the best.
Great video, was very surprised the Marvel Select won, but they do really impressive sculpts. As someone with no interest in the other symbiotes, it really sucks that the 3 pack is my favorite look for Venom. I don't have any Venoms yet, but if they reissue it in a solo box with a closed mouth head, I'd go for that in a heartbeat.
The Diamond selects Venom is one of my absolute favorite Venom figures even more so when Diamond selects came out with a special Disney store exclusive allowing you 2 add 3 more alternate heads which is awesome. The winged Venom is just Sick & is easily my favorite 2 display. Hopefully you one day get 2 make a video on the MaFex,Revoltech & maybe even the Square Enix versions?! Great review!
Yay you showed the 2006 Toybiz Venom! All these years later it's STILL the Venom on my shelf, giving a double middle-finger salute with those articulated fingers.
I agree on this one I only have the marvel select venom since I have to choose the movie marvel legends venom or the select venom and I never regret choosing the select venom because of the accessories 😁👍
I enjoy my 3pack Venom and my King in Black Venom. I was considering picking up Deluxe Venom but he doesn't have alternate fists. I love the open mouth head from the 2016 version. Great comparison video!
great review, my favorites are the King in Black and Absorbing Man BAF Versions, I have the slightly different version from the Monster Venom BAF wave with an Eddie Brock head, a gooy effect and without the tongue. A Carnage Versus would be great
Agree. Gotz the #1 winner on 5POA about 2 years ago. Not much articulation but a heck of great accessories. But I am looking at the S.H Carnage. Just because it looks so Kool. 😆
Imo, the 3pk Venom has the better playability because of the heads & overall scale versatility with most modern marvel figures. So since I’d give that point to him instead of the Select version, 3pk Venom would win lol. But I’m not mad at your choice either. Been eyeing that Select Venom for years now. Might just get it just to mod the heads 🤷🏾♂️
The winner of this was decided by the price, but what if price was no object? If you already owned each of these figures, which one would be your favorite?
That is an AWESOME question! In terms of shelf presence, either Select or King in Black for me. The Madness accessories or wings are really eye catching, and they are the best detailed. After that, Deluxe, though I prefer the Amazon proportions.
I have the Knull two pack version coming, and he looks great. The Select is a great one for just displaying, but Knull fits with my ML Spidey figures better.
@@5POAFigureReviews I actually plan on painting my Knull Venom in more the style how the customizer Ken I Make It did in his video. Plus, Anthony’s Customs made comic-style feet so he can be toeless. Btw, congrats on getting 7k subscribers. I greatly enjoy your videos, and it’s awesome to see the production progression from your earlier videos to now.
The Symbiote Strike is so different in terms of engineering and Playability (no options for swapping heads or hands etc) it didn't feel compatible enough with the ones I've chosen. That said, you will see him in two videos I have planned for Venom down the road.
One minor but kind of major nitpick about KiB: he has no pegholes in the bottoms of his feet. Those awesome wings are pretty heavy, and make him kind of hard to balance standing.
I am back and forth. In general, I'm not interested in anything 8" scale, but it looks to be the only way of having a Venom that the Marvel Select Carnage is in proper scale to.
From what I have seen of that design, I would recommend the Monster Venom BAF. It's a little pricey, but I am seeing it on eBay for as low as 40-45. Hope that helps
Stealth Iron Man broke out of the package when I opened him for the review. I was faced with the choice to give up or keep going, so I decided to just cut loose and have fun with it. The channel kind of came alive at that point, and it established a lot of what I do now, like funny skits, dioramas, etc. So Stealth Iron Man became the channel mascot, a reminder to find the best in a bad situation and that the show must go on. I would encourage you to look up the Stealth Iron Man video and then the Dark Flash and Batman Suit Barry video for more of the lore. Welcome to the channel!
Congrats on 7,000 subs 👍. Remind me if I'm wrong but this is the first vs I can remember you doing with 5 figures in it. Also something awesome is I went to Walmart the other day and found a Parallax in store! I was going to pass it because I didn't really need it as I mainly collect Arkham and video game figures but when I scanned it and I saw it was $9.00 I couldn't leave it.
I have the Marvel Select Venom and it has been my Venom on display. I have yet to get the others because he is indeed the gold standard. He can fit with Marvel Legends easily because Venom can change his size anyway.

Maybe Disney should have hired me instead of the new Kermit voice lol Side note, I don't make shorts, so I am guessing someone is using clips of my videos to do it.
Was hoping to see your usual head swap party. Actually I own all these same venoms and even with the wonky articulation I say if you can only own one, the select is by far the best deal with a great shelf presence. Especially if he's squatted over some
Thanks for the video 5POA. I have been a huge advocate of Marvel Select products for about 6 months now, and I have the ten-year-old Venom. I laugh when people use articulation as a point of contention when I consider the reason why I own it is because of the details. Hasbro can only try to achieve what Select has been producing lately. Venom is without a question one of those "re-released" products. Hasbro's recent indiscretions with price and QC, I am hoping more collectors look towards Select as a viable option. The recent Rulk, Viz, and Bill are prime examples.
Most especially Bill. I love that one so much. And with DC Multiverse doing so well, 7" is a very viable scale if you want to mix and match your heroes. For Select to stay competitive though, they absolutely need to start completing teams. They've been at this for two decades and we still don't have a solid X-Men or FF roster. Fingers crossed that with Reed coming Sue won't be far behind.
King in black by far not to massive but not small Suckle an proportion are amazing portrait as well Close 2nd is the deluxe venom if ur into the behemoth looking venom For the most part venom has been drawn like the king in black venom The rest have ugly portraits Skinny Selects figures are alright but they have horrible proportions An portraits this venom is no different
Marvel select Venom is the best hands down, the sculpting and playability factor nothing’s comes close..my only gripe is that they should have had ankle pivot, despite it being reissue so many times DST could have taken the chance to improve
I can't be sure, but I know Diamond is contractually limited to a certain number of new figures they can release a year. The re-issues seem to be a workaround. I wonder if changing any of the tooling would mean it has to have a new SKU and therefore woumd have to be considered as one of their new figure slots? If that be the case, I can see why they aren't updating any of the sculpts
@@5POAFigureReviews appreciate the reply! Well that’s true contractually they aren’t allowed to do beyond certain limits of articulation. The marvel select venom was almost perfect if it had ankle pivot which would allow much more dynamic poses. If u see figures that come out at that time for example marvel select Ultron, it had ankle pivot so it’s kind of shame this doesn’t
I have most of these Venoms and the Select one is by far my least favorite due to the lack of articulation. I like to photograph my figures so articulation is important. My current favorite is Absorbing Man, but am looking forward to getting the King in Black. Thanks for the video!
You are first! $90? Yikes! Likely, your comic shop bought it for retail instead of going through a distributor and are charging more so they get a profit off it. I always say shop local, but not in an instance like that. A few bucks is one thing, of course, but more than $10 for an item you can readily get elsewhere is pushing it.
MS Carnage is still my gold standard but in no scale is nearly 9 inches acceptable. I think even Diamond admitted something got goofed in their research. Like they saw a height range and took the top end. I love my MS venom and have had him since release, one of 2 DS figures that are so near perfect that 1 major flaw just urks me to no end. Venom's ankle pivot and Cable's bicep swivel. Still really excellent figure who's sculpting and paint work harkens back to a different time. King in black and omega red venom are such strong contenders that picking between those 3 falls to a matter of preference. It's like a 3 way veinn diagram that neither one really hits all points. I love the sculpt and accessories of MS but lacking articulation, the Amazon is fantastic but that tongue head doesn't look right to me and oof price, King has all that texture and playability but it's so tall and lanky.
The articulation on the select is so outdated. The marvel legends knull pack coulda been my definitive venom if it didnt have those ugly ass holes on the back and if it had the toeless feet
