Everyone saying PAUL is lonely and looks miserable clearly never read that book, he was a very happy man despite the vicissitudes of business. Read the book and you’ll get to understand his love for Rock,Jimmy Hendrix,Scuba Diving,Reading,Space Travel(though he never went up but put money behind) the Brain Institute And his ultimate desire to advance humanity. This guy lived his life to the fullest,loved life,his family,Sister Jody,mom and his dad. RIP PAUL and THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR HUMANITY. Worked for Paul at his Estate on Mercer Island in the 90s. His Mother Faye was a rock for him. When she passed, I'm sure that had a difficult effect on him. He never married - it seemed the women around him were more predator than prospective spouse - that was sad because finding his 'Melinda' would have been special. I should note for the record that when Mary Gates ( Bill's Mother ) passed away, Paul was one of the first people Bill came to visit. I missed talking to him in the spring of 2018 at the Original Pancake House in Portland - I should have stopped him but he looked in pain. He died a few months later - so, I should have - I owed him a 'thank you.' I imagine Jody ( his sister ) runs the whole enterprise at the moment - and I hope she proves worthy. No matter what people think, I saw him with his mother and he was a very good son and a good person. RIP.
It's amazing how young these guy were; Paul-15 & Gates-13, when they started their path. They were KIDS but they had the business/technical sense of professionals. This was not simply luck... These guys were destined for success.
um both have perfect SAT scores , went to private schools and had the best and latest computers to play around with. They went to Ivy leagues schools. They were as WASPy as they can get, they were already born for success not destined.

In the book Memoirs, Paul Allen is fair and both praises and criticizes Bill Gates. But I feel the interviewer is prejudiced against Bill Gates and is trying to draw a dark picture of Bill Gates. This whole video seems biased.
After watching this I've been thinking about how amazing it must have been for him to grow up and live through that time working with Bill Gates and seeing technology develop at a unbelievable rate. Friend of mine was a high school classmate of Paul. Never believed him until Paul showed up in Beijing (where my friend and I lived) for the 2008 Olympics. I got to see what billions can do for you.
paul seems like a decent person, was extremely successful and had a lot of interests, but that said there was something really depressing about this guy. the way he looked, talked, just painful. he was tortured by gates and looks scared, especially when talking about wanting to have a family. you can tell he knew it would never happen.

I'm not sure this give us any insight into Paul Allen's relative happiness or unhappiness. How do you measure his happiness, based on what he looks like here?! That's as shallow as an assumption that money CAN buy happiness. Having money, even a lot of it, does not automatically make one unhappy. Examples of unhappy or happy rich and poor abound. He may not have gotten everything he wanted, ie a family, but he was able to work at and develop many interesting and useful things, as well as explore diverse and numerous interests.
Its no doubt the Microsoft started the Home PC revolution with windows over the decades. Any business partnership has its ups and downs. Allen has more money then he could spend in a lifetime and probable got out because he had many other idea's and interests other then just Microsoft. Gates was the cut throat businessman who did what he felt he had to do to make it work. A couple of kids created this empire, the story is actually amazing and the creative genius behind it. Apple is yet another innovative company that went through its own growing pains and look at it now. It is a cut throat business, especially now.

In the book Memoirs, Paul Allen is fair and both praises and criticizes Bill Gates. But I feel the interviewer is prejudiced against Bill Gates and is trying to draw a dark picture of Bill Gates. This whole video seems biased.

After watching this I've been thinking about how amazing it must have been for him to grow up and live through that time working with Bill Gates and seeing technology develop at a unbelievable rate. I wonder how he feels to be one of the people partially responsible for what is now a vital part of all our our lives.

Paul Allen did not get the credit that he should have gotten! He was a visionary and such a big philanthropist too! His legacy of excellence will continue.
Its true that Bill was a tough businessman(and quite controversial too), who competed vigorously with his competitors but now he's a changed man.
Paul did not hold any beef against him. He just wanted to express his side of the story. Its been a long time since all that drama happened and I hope God shall bless both of them and forgive if they made any mistake. (RIP Paul Gardner Allen)

Friend of mine was a high school classmate of Paul. Never believed him until Paul showed up in Beijing (where my friend and I lived) for the 2008 Olympics. I got to see what billions can do for you.

paul seems like a decent person, was extremely successful and had a lot of interests, but that said there was something really depressing about this guy. the way he looked, talked, just painful. he was tortured by gates and looks scared, especially when talking about wanting to have a family. you can tell he knew it would never happen.
To say he wanted the Seahawks is such an overstatement. He bought the team to save it and keep it in Seattle. Which he did. Thanks Paul.

It's not unusual for business partners, marriage partners, musical partners to have heated/serious disagreements. Sometimes such differences break apart partnerships, sometimes they reconcile, and sometimes they grow, settle their differences, and grow again. It's a natural process. This process was well illustrated in the play "Patterns" by Rod Serling way back in the fifties.

I'm not sure this give us any insight into Paul Allen's relative happiness or unhappiness. How do you measure his happiness, based on what he looks like here?! That's as shallow as an assumption that money CAN buy happiness. Having money, even a lot of it, does not automatically make one unhappy. Examples of unhappy or happy rich and poor abound. He may not have gotten everything he wanted, ie a family, but he was able to work at and develop many interesting and useful things, as well as explore diverse and numerous interests.

Its no doubt the Microsoft started the Home PC revolution with windows over the decades. Any business partnership has its ups and downs. Allen has more money then he could spend in a lifetime and probable got out because he had many other idea's and interests other then just Microsoft. Gates was the cut throat businessman who did what he felt he had to do to make it work. A couple of kids created this empire, the story is actually amazing and the creative genius behind it. Apple is yet another innovative company that went through its own growing pains and look at it now. It is a cut throat business, especially now.
The pc revolution wasn’t because of these guys. They made software but the home pc market would have still happened without them
