I did Anna Bey’s personal style quiz recently and it came back that my style is classic elegance with a twist; I am not afraid of bright colours. It was really interesting. I love bright colours but never more than one at a time.
I think a great way is to have many neutrals in your wardrobe but accessorize with bold colour like belt, handbag, shoes :)
The reverse hanger trip is one of my favorites when I'm doing a closet declutter. Once I get down to the last couple that aren't turned, I either get them ready to donate or I give them one last wear to re-evaluate that item. Years ago I had a shirt that was in that category, and after wearing it one more time, I realized it was an awesome shirt and it became one of my favorites! I literally wore it to the point it started to come apart after a long while of heavy use.

I love what you say about buying for the "fantasy self"! This is my biggest flaw, where I buy what influencers wear, but they don't work for my body or lifestyle! I would say your style is my style as well! When it's hot, which it is here in BC 🇨🇦 during Summer/early Fall, it's hard to maintain style and comfort at the same time, so I devolve into shorts and tank tops, lol.

Thank you for the great tips. One thing I would also add is to know your colour palette and kibbe body type. I know I am a muted summer colour season and dramatic classic kibbe body type, then I only buy and wear those type of clothes and that go with my simple elegant style. In the past I used to buy clothes just because they looked good on a model, but then I wouldn't reach out for them because they didn't fit me well. Now I only wear things that suit me and don't have to regret buying things I don't wear.
The Same goes for hair & Make-Up. I realised I always wear the same 6 shades of lippy so I spread those shades accross a range of textures -Sheer frost Gloss to full coverage cream matt, to stay Up dated while still being true to my Personal Style and Lifestyle. 😎☕💋

Very good advice! I especially like the point about setting aside items you're not sure of and revisiting later. And knowing our personal style goes a long way toward not buying clothes that don't fit. I've been working on really considering how an item will fit me and my wardrobe before I buy it, which will avoid unnecessary decluttering later on. Glad you shared these tips!

I cant wait for the day i can actually afford a decent wardrobe. I still wear stuff from high school 😂. I have different financial priorities right now. But when im secured. Loro piana and hermes it is haha. And uniqlo for basics ❤

You didn't mention weight. My weight fluctuates a lot so I need a huge wardrobe. I have tried less clothes by putting some away but then 2 weeks later they don't fit me properly and I need the bigger or the smaller size.

LOVE this video...AMAZING ADVICE!!! Andddddd, on the heels of a collab video...THIS says So MUCH about you as a person Eileen. I've been SHOPPING and purging my closet I guess all week. Finding things I love and can actually wear(I've been purging afew inches too😉). Well, with that, I'm facing another dilemma - what fit in the past, now & future - in purging Spring/Summer items at the moment. My taste is so eclectic. One things for sure, I loveLoveLOVE white shirts (button & tees),wide Leg pants, linen, black pants & neutral shoes - can open my own boutique.😅 I'm going to approach this going forward - Shop My Closet & Keep ONLY what I'd buy today. Eileen, you're a Genius & I appreciate you.💛✨️

I like your style. It's so simple and chic. And I'm figuring out how it could look on me. I do smart working four days a week and my problem is that I would like to be well dressed at home too... but laziness often leads me to wear the worst things I have in my wardrobe. 😅 When you are going to stay at home all day long, what are you wearing? Do you distinguish 'home' clothing and clothing to go out? Or do you use everything in your wardrobe? Thank you ❤
I usually live in my cashmere jumpers at home and if I’m running out for a bit I’ll quickly change my leggings into skinny jeans xx

When I saw the words “Hell no items” across the screen, I laughed out loud! I wasn’t expecting that, but it’s the perfect term to describe those item that positively have to go. I got rid of most of those items my first go round at decluttering my wardrobe but I think I may have to revisit a few more items that I’ve been holding on to.

I am inspired to go through my closet and switch out my wardrobe for fall, and this gave me some new ideas to think about when putting my wardrobe back together. I am the same as you in style, but I am neutral with a pop of color, comfortable, versatile, and chic. Thank you again for the inspiration.

This is fantastically inspirational, especially being in the middle of trying to declutter after some awful shopping and hoarding of clothes and shoes the last handful of years. It's actually very upsetting seeing how having so much stuff actually prevents you from enjoying the items you actually love/want because all the stuff gets in the way and you ended up (in my case especially) wearing the same few things over and over and shopping more because you forgot you already had something.
I just moved into a new space and I am excited and looking forward to riding myself of hopefully half of my haul so I can actually get to and wear what I want.

What a great video, Eileen! I'd say that my style is classic with a little twist. I love bright colors like fuchsia, royal blue, and grass green, but I also wear many black, white, and navy blue pieces. High heels are my thing, I feel more confident in them ❤

Good morning, Eileen. Just this morning, I looked at a dress that I purchased two years ago and realized I wore it only 3 times. I think it is time to let it go because it no longer fits my personal style. Your suggestion to lesson the amount of You Tube fashion influencers that I watch may be the key to help me not feel the urge to purchase new items. I would describe my style as classic, tailored, neutral, and comfortable. I love the full skirt you wore in this video. You are so inspiring.

Also the posting. If you post an outfit then I think if I should rewear for an event because it seems like I’m wearing the same clothes over and over. Personally I find this happens to me during holiday because that’s when I post.
