    I have the G1XOn, the precursor to this model. I love the sound of it, for such a cheap pedal, and those can still be had for cheap, new or used. I honestly turn the gain down, and run it in front of tube preamps from ART run into a power amp, or in front of a clean tube amp. Sounds beast for what it is. It can also run on a run of the mill stomp box power unit; I use a few other stomp boxes, as well as a DI box micro pedal, and they are all run off of the same iSpot multiadapter.

    • @necromancer9422
      @necromancer9422 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In front of a clean tube amp. Ha ha ha, that's the biggest joke I have ever heard. Who plugs a digital shit in a tube amp? Plug a digital shit in another digital shit. If you can afford (or willing to afford) money for a tube amp, why stop there? There are many decent small tube amps out there on the market with both clean & dirty settings.

    • @needsLITHIUM
      @needsLITHIUM 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@necromancer9422 I use the digital for noisegating and additional EQ because the tube amp I have is small, cheap, and only has a single tone knob on both the clean and dirty channel, on addition to being a hybrid amp with a solid state power section - some moddellers have power tube emulation. Also, some people like to blend for unique tones, or want the ability for other sounds for solos or whatever. Why do you have to be so closed minded and attacking? Why does it bother you what I do? If it sounded bad, I'm pretty sure one of my many friends who also play would gladly tell me while jamming or when I show them a recording. Matter of fact, some of them HAVE told me about bad tones I had in the past, which ironically led me to the hardware setup I have now. There are plenty of bands, guitarists, and bass players who mix and match tube, other analog circuits, solid state, and digital live and/or in studio. You gonna judge them, too? They're making money with a similar setup to mine, so I'd think they would be a better, more authoritative source on the matter.
      One more thing - What about a 2notes torpedo or something like that. Since it's digital, does it negate an all tube head if you use one as a DI/load box? If not, what's the determining factor as to whether one digital thing or another is allowed or not? You sound like an idiot, with no idea what they're talking about, and a judgmental one at that. Go be rude somewhere else. While you're doing that, the rest of us will be making music. Make me famous, hater, or shut up. Besides, this video is like a year old. Get a life.

      @bentravis99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@talhamerttufan7140 I don't know about alternatives but it is amazing value for money, even compared to the cost of just one Boss effects pedal... And the small size is great for not taking up much space. Highly recommended!
      The major downside is it is a bit clunky to use live and needs more messing around in the menus and settings compared to a bigger multi-effects pedalboard that has maybe 5 individual patch pedals, instead of just the "up" and "down" pedal of the G1X. It is actually very flexible, it just involves changing the settings in the menus - not a problem once you have messed with it for a while but there is a bit of a learning curve with the user interface.

    Just want to point out that all the cabinet simulations (like the marshall one you were testing in the beginning) are turned off by default, even if they show up in the effects chain. I don't understand this design -- but anyhow the way to fix it is go into the cab parameters and turn "mic" to "on".

    ive had my zoom g1x four for about a year now. i got it "used" for $65usd. honestly, even tho i got it used from some guy off of fb marketplace, i swear it was pretty much new and maybe had been tried out, he didnt like it and then put back into all its original packaging and sold to me for $65. since i have had it, i have had an amazing time with my guitars. i have also managed to get a bunch of really good tones saved to it. i deleted all the factory presets because i didnt like any of them and couldnt really get any of them to sound decent enough to use, but i could setup my own from scratch and it really has been a good purchase for me. i use it every day because it really is so useful.

    BOSS, EHX, Digitech and ZOOM are stellar manufacturers and are really technologically excellent too. I can't help but constantly admire their superb innovations and do also take care of their stuff I have now, with Surge protection too always, because, you never know when they might discontinue an "obsolete" unit that you took for granted and then later realize it is Superior to the newer "better" stuff. It happens all the time.

  • @crazeyjoe
    @crazeyjoe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    100 bucks is worth considerably less than when I first started out and this sounds tons better than I could have bought back then for this price. This unit would have cost $250 when I first started and I still could not have gotten anything this good for even that price. Sure it is transistor and digital. At least it doesn't have a buzz saw or even worse, a thin, crackling tone! Excellent for a beginner or a home jam unit!

    Zoom G3 (1st gen) is total bad ass! 32 bit and they nailed the tube sim on the amps. Lots of tweeking but the results are astounding at $170 that I paid. Put it side by side test w/ a TS808 and Boss Ch-1 and thy nailed those two. Has a ENGL Invader 150 that is bad ass and a Krank Rev 1+ that is out of production that is sweet also.

    I have one of these, I love it. Lately I've used it to dial in A. a halfway decent David Gilmour lead tone B. A spot on Flock of Seagulls Delay sound and C. a Love and Rockets
    fuzzed out overdrive buzzsaw sound. Once you can edit your own pedal board and patches you're good. The presets are ok. I used the Fuzz overdrive one to play
    some Smashing Pumpkins "Cherub Rock." I had to turn the gain on my Vox amp down a lot because the preset was so gonzo, but you can adjust that too. For the money
    I paid it's worth the money for messing around at home. The "Barracuda" preset is such fun, too. I don't like that it doesn't have an on/off switch, but the batteries
    last a while unless you use it all day long. The expression pedal is ok. It's weird, my Vox VX50 amp has at least three high gain models built-in, they're not bad.

    This is a great little pedal, this isn't a fair shake. They really should have taken some time to read the manual and play with the computer software that makes it much easier to program new patches. The biggest problem I have with it is that the buttons are kind of uncomfortable to with with, it's easy to hit both of them by accident and turn on the tuner.
