Wow dear Sandy Anderson. Great to watch you awesome video. My son is still using beautiful gift from you on my Toyota. It helped me a lot in many situations I was seeking help with cars.
Just figuring out that Porsche, Skoda, VW all used the same alarm siren which uses a Ni-Amh battery directly over the PCB and when it fails it draws from the main battery along with destroying the PCB, you can only tell by cutting the casing open. Only thing I've seen close to that is old arcade machines, poor batteries and poor design.
Top job as always. 50 mA is totally fine, I think the customer will be able to live without an alarm horn as long as their golf starts on the button again.
On many models of Skoda, the service schedule calls for replacement of that alarm horn every five or six years but on the rest of the VAG group there’s no mention of it even although the same part is used right across much of the range. I’ve seen one once that had caught fire and burned itself out due to lack of oxygen up in that corner.
🤔Cant you just remove just remove the wiring plug to the alarm 🔊to save having to drill out the tamper proof fixings? Also on my Mk6 using a VAGCOM you can disable the alarm 🔊if that cuts power to the horn then it should possibly have the same effect as removing it?
Same prob in my golf 4 tdi I Think would be prob alternator diode inside drains idk but when i remove negative all night and in morning i start normally but when i left unremoved 2 terminals dies overnight i thing ground wire goes from battery to chassis and into Alternator so It could be alternator for my opinion
I have a 2005 Jetta w/parasitical draw. What tools do I need to troubleshoot? Seems like the AC/DC mini clamp meter was the main tool. Shops near me don't want to deal with this (or are booked for several weeks). Note: horn doesn't work and there's an airbag warning so it can't even be legally driven
Hello. I think i have the same trouble here. But i have no tool for plug into the diagnostic port. Can you tell me brand and model so it will work in my car?

Amp clamp + thermal camera and knowledge of electricity = success

The fuse /buzz bar could be next problem there Sandy , 15 quid from dealers , bargain , great fix guys, super testing as always 👍
Another great watch Gentlemen, I have the same Unit T amp clamp meter very pleased with it. Also have the Amp Hound which is also a great piece of kit

Great find and fix, I’m liking the alldata diagrams etc. It looks better than Autodata & might have to purchase 🤔🤔 👍👍
