      I know! every other bathroom design seems nonsensical now. I'm in the UK but have seen this in AirBnBs in other European countries. I also like how it seems to be the European norm to have the washing machine in the bathroom. This makes so much more sense than the British standard of shoehorning into a kitchen, probably getting residual grease over everything and taking up valuable space that could be used for a dishwasher/ to feed air fryer and other appliance obsessions.

    I have to credit your videos for pushing me to clean my bathroom. It took me three days because I’m not physically able to do it all at once. The rest of my house is still a wreck, but it feels so nice to be able to walk into my bathroom and not see (and step on) trash all over the floor. I’m hoping that cleaning will be a catalyst for doing more. Thank you for showing me how many other people suffer as I do.

    She's right, you can't save an addict or people suffering from depression or anxiety unless they want to heal as well. Even therapists say that therapy is useless if the patient has no motivation. It's a hard place to be in as someone's loved one. It's important to support the person as much as you can and how you see fit (like not giving money to an addict if their addiction comes first) but it's also important to look after yourself so you don't burn out. Happy to hear that this story had a happy ending. Great work as always, Auri!

This story gave me hope that one day he will be cured of his addictions as well. Also a big thanks for being non judgemental. Some people judge these poor addicts harshly. Unless you are an addict or love someone who is you will never understand. Compassion and love will always win.

    • @tuikkur.5655
      @tuikkur.5655 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@strawberryme08 As a Finn, like Auri, it feels completely logical to say trashes 😁 In Finnish language there's a singular form of the word "trash" = roska and a plural form = roskat. The singular form means just one trash and the plural one several of them.
      And of course we never take out just one roska (= trash), so we say that we take out all the roskat (= "trashes"). We're just so used to use plural form on that phrase so it comes naturally to do it other languages too, even when it's not the correct way to say in the other language...
      We have to learn to take out the trash, but taking out the "trashes" comes naturally, if you know what I mean! 😄😂😂
      I think it's cute that you guys are so supportive and understanding with this "trashes" thing. Personally I don't even notice it, but that's because it doesn't sound incorrect to me. I've made this same mistake many times even though I've learnt to use the correct form since then. 😁❤
      Greetings from Finland! And even though no one asked, I'll have to tell you this: We have many good things in Finland and few very excellent ones, too. Auri Katariina is most definitely one of the latter. ❤

    I've learned some great new techniques from this show! New uses for my Scrub Daddy too! 😃 So, I thought I'd share one of my techniques when cleaning a refrigerator. .. I do the final wipe down of the inside with generic "Listerine" type mouthwash. The antibacterial properties of the mouthwash kill any trace mold or bacteria. This is particularly useful if cleaning a fridge that will be left unused for a long time ( like a vacation home, house waiting for sale, etc) from growing any black mold while its out of service. Seeing the horrible condition of some of these refrigerators, I suggest this to disinfect them. Hope its useful to someone! 😃👍

    This is my favourite type of video from you, Auri. LONG, first of all, but also thorough. You clean *everything* and it is such a good and calming feelings to see it done so completely and well. I much prefer these videos in length and thoroughness. My only complaint and it is the same as ever is that the 'After' shors could be a loooot slower and more detailed at the end. Those are the best part of the video and it always feels rushed. Not to be mean or angry at all but you seem to want your subscribers thoughts so those are mine. Overall I LOVE this channel and have the same insane love of cleaning that you do. ugh it is SO satisfying to see! Best of luck to Pete and his lovely sister!

    I cry as I watch your videos. I cry because you make me wish all the more I could just do a fraction of what you do in my own home. Ever since becoming disabled, I have lost so much more than the physical. I also cry because I am so happy some people have you to help them, because when you have no one to help you you just sink lower and lower. I have no extended family left. And I really wish there was someone like you who lived near me who could help me be brave enough to let them help me. Its so embarrassing to be disabled!!

    I never thought of using a squeegee on floors... brilliant!
    P.S. As a drug addict myself (clean & sober since 2014), I can tell you that the best thing a family can do is to make sure the addict knows that they will be there for him/her -- when they are ready for help.

Anyway, I had told him there was nowhere to sit & he said it was ok, then he saw my living room & called it disgusting. I cried as soon as he left. My whole family know how much I struggle with it but they honestly just don’t care or want to help because they just think I’m lazy. I need help & the ones that could provide help & support, won’t. I wish someone could help me for free.

    • @peachesdixon7567
      @peachesdixon7567 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Don't over think this. Don't think of the entirety of the mess or you will be overwhelmed. It is really just a bunch of little tasks that take little effort or time and do not overwhelm. Do 5 things a day. Every day. Those 5 things are for you to decide. Pack 5 bags of garbage and yes, you know what garbage is, then remove it from your home for trash pick-up. Too overwhelming? Set a 5 minute timer and stuff bags with garbage for 5 minutes and remove them. Clean your fridge or the kitchen sink and counters as quickly as you can for 5 minutes or clean your shower, your bathroom sink, your toilet, your sheets and pillows all in one day. The 5 you choose are up to you. Everyday you will move forward to your goal, step-by-step and will feel empowered by your progress. You will get there. Even the longest journey begins with the first step.

    • @AlyssaSunshineAngel
      @AlyssaSunshineAngel ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Something that helped me a lot when things got overwhelming is using a timer. Set it for 5 minutes and just do what you can. Once you can do that, maybe try 10 minutes. One time when I was really sick and not motivated I decided to lay on the couch all day except for 10 minutes each hour when I set the timer and did whatever I could in that time. You can even binge watch a series and between each episode you do 5 or 10 minutes. Good luck xx

Take a clean fresh beautiful white piece of paper and hold it in front of you and call it names every time you call it something negative crumble the paper, Stop saying negative things and start saying positive things and every time you say something positive and crumpled the paper. When you’re done compare that to the nice fresh piece of paper that has never been crumpled ultimately you can take back what you said but you can’t take back the damage you’ve done the crumpled piece of paper will never ever be like the fresh new unused piece of paper

    Hi, Aurikatariina, thank you for sharing. There’s always a story behind mess. A big YES for self care first, otherwise there is no real power to help others. Sometimes it seems easier to help others as to help yourself, but you’ll be soon worn out and sitting in a mess yourself. So healthy eating and drinking, exercise, therapy, if needed and happy routines for every day is essential. I always remember the rules in planes: care for yourself, otherwise you can’t help others. I love your attitude… love, Monika❣

    I tried to get sober at least 9 times. Lost my place to live, all my belongings, had to place my son with someone else to care for him, many hospital stays and illnesses, including a Hep C diagnosis that I still live with (and the many additional effects on my health) today. I didn't have anything, no money, my entire family disassociated with me (still don't speak to me 7+ years later), and no support system or health insurance in order to be able to go to treatment. But one day a door opened up and I was able to go to treatment on a "scholarship" because my partner was going who did have good health coverage. So they agreed to take me too. We got on a plane and went to treatment, and the next day after arriving the treatment center informed me that I was pregnant. I didn't even think I could conceive at that time, so I was in total disbelief and told them it was a mistake. But sure enough, blood work proved it was accurate. They told me I had to leave due to liability (which I still can't believe) and I was in Florida, with no money, no phone, and in a city where i knew no one or nothing. Some people who was also getting treatment told the facility to give me, and my significant other, all the money in their belongings. It totaled $90. An out of state family member paid for bus tickets. We were on a bus for TWO & A HALF DAYS lol and we used the money to buy cheap hamburgers from McDonald's to last us the whole ride. I also bought Tums because at this point the pregnancy symptoms kicked in and I had nausea and heartburn like crazy! I got home, struggled to stay sober since I hadn't really received any treatment, started using again for about a month, but then started Outpatient treatment. My sober birthday is 7/15/2015. My daughter's father went back to an inpatient treatment facility closer to home for 30 days. And I had a beautiful, healthy 6 lb. + 9 oz. baby girl on December 8, 2015. I had two brief lapses in early 2016 but pulled myself back up quickly. My s/o had a few relapses, but I was able to help him get back on the wagon. He has a good job now and supports us and our daughter is 6 years old and so loved. And we always talk to her about addiction, the dangers of substances, and the things we've been through. Education from an early age is so very important to break generational curses.
    So happy for Pete, and God bless all the addicts still struggling. There is ALWAYS hope.
