  • Recapture Hidden Gems Digiscoping in the Western Ghats!
Get ready to be amazed because today we're diving once again with our spotting scope into the hidden gem of Banda Sawantwadi, which is a paradise for bird enthusiasts that you may not even know existed on the Western Ghats!!!
Welcome to Banda Sawantwadi, a quaint town in Maharashtra, India, known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. But what many don't realize is that this town is home to a secret haven for bird lovers, waiting to be explored.
Despite its beauty, this hidden bird sanctuary in Sawantwadi remains largely unknown to the public. The lack of awareness about this sanctuary has hindered its potential to attract more visitors and conservation efforts.
Let's take a closer look at what makes this bird sanctuary so special. From vibrant bird species to diverse habitats, Sawantwadi offers a unique experience for bird watchers. The chance to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural environment is truly a sight to behold.
And now, for the moment you've been waiting for. Imagine spotting a rare bird species or witnessing a breathtaking view that captures the essence of this sanctuary. These key moments make every visit to Sawantwadi's hidden gem an unforgettable experience.
In this second episode we feature Blyths Reed Warbler... Malabar Pied-Hornbill and White-browed Wagtail
The Blyths Reed Warbler was always around at the back of the homestay jumping and picking up insects and flies on the move!
One had to keep up with the White-browed Wagtail as it moved very quickly on the ground. Was lucky it flew up into the tree where it gave us some good footage as it kept singing and preening itself.
Highlight was the Malabar Pied-Hornbill which we saw at a far distance in the fading light and lifting his head and making this loud woofing call.
As we wrap up this episode-2 of our journey through Banda Sawantwadi's hidden gem, let's remember the importance of preserving such natural habitats for birds and nature enthusiasts alike. It's crucial to protect these sanctuaries for future generations to enjoy and appreciate
I encourage you to explore more hidden gems like Banda or share your own bird watching experiences in the comments below. Let's continue to celebrate and protect the beauty of nature together. Thanks for watching, and until next time, happy bird watching!

Our birding duo, Les and Verena have brought you episode 2 shot in the lush green forests of Banda in Sawantwadi district.
Here they introduce you to the Blyth's Reed Warbler, the Malabar Pied Hornbill and the White - Browed Wagtail.
Each bird showcased is explained beautifully by Les and Verena who have even shared in the compilation of this video with their audio narratives. The footage in this compilation is excellent too as well as the descriptive narratives.
Well done Les and Verena and thanks once again for sharing your avian experiences.
