My parents were uneducated immigrants from Greece who arrived in Oz in the early 70s. They came here with nothing and worked their arses off to positively contribute to the future of their children and of this country. They made a conscientious effort to integrate, never complaining, and never once thinking of taking offshore any wealth they generated in their adoptive country.
Now Australia has turned into a half-way house for a majority of immigrants who have no desire to integrate, and whose main goal is to make as much money as possible and to collect a token Uni degree so that they can rise to success back in their own countries.
My parents weren't the brightest bulbs in the box, but they did understand the importance of patriotism to Australia.
My old man's view was that if someone left their country of origin due to socio-economic hardships and lack of opportunities, why would they want to return to a place which didn't care about them once they had later established financial stability and developed skills from the country they sought naturalisation in?
"If their country of origin is so great, then why come here?!" he would say.

Yes, those that integrated like the Greeks and Italians et.al contributed so much and fitted in so well. These newcomers have no intention of assimilating and now we have so many we will forever be in turmoil. Once they get their political arms established it will be goodbye forever for what is left of Australia.

The trouble with young people today is they want big houses with everything that opens and shuts inside of them plus their two cars. You start by buying what you can afford, NOT what you want. 100% agree. I am a home grown Aussie, moved interstate taking on a new role. Couldn't find accommodation, was renting airbnb (non Australian owned block of flats), paying $1,400 pw for a small 1 bed apartment. Eventually finding accommodation, extremely over priced, 90+% of the 200 apartments where I am staying occupied by immigrants. Most of the people I have spoken to in the apartments are working in unskilled jobs, pizza delivery, uber, house maids, Coles, Woollies, coffee shops etc. I was also told by several of them so that they can stay in the country and until they can get their permanent residency they register to study in various universities and colleges but don't regularly or some not at all attend. This is clearly wroughting the system and making life incredibly difficult for the Australian, existing permanent residents and genuine immigrants. This needs to be investigated, it stinks of corruption and someone obviously needs to be held accountable. This shit government, Albanese, Penny Wong and the rest of the labour cronies should be 1st on the list.

Business migration scheme scam, if they put x amount of dollars into a business here they get permanent residence. Its been rorted by Indians for the last 2 decades. I was told by a couple of Indians how they do it, the first arrivals buy the business and get their PR, then they simply borrow the money back out and give it to the next applicants, rinse and repeat. The other scam they have been operating is through being foreign students, cheat their way through the educational system to gain a qualification , get the PR then go to work for uber or whatever because the qualification they gained does not match their skill level so they are unsuitable for skilled employment. A lot of these foreign uni graduates cant even speak basic english but have degrees in electrical engineering etc..

I arrived here in Australia about two years ago, and in fact many people arrived, but with the government changes, with higher rates to apply for visas, many people are leaving, several friends who arrived at the same time as me decided to leave or have their visas denied.
Today it is super easy to get work in construction, courier delivery and among other immigrant jobs precisely because many have left.
To find a room in share house is also easy.
I imagine that things are getting better and immigrants who want to stay here and make a good path will go through the difficulties and will be useful to the country, while the useless immigrants will leave.
If the government maintains a fair posture, sending away those who are useless, those who do not pay taxes and who commit crimes, things will get better. In my case, I am trying to do everything right, I got my driver's license to drive legally, I paid my taxes, I respect the laws and the culture of the country.

A large number of the skilled Nursing staff and Doctors had come from the Subcontinent or Asia. I was treated with great skill, dignity, courtesy, and fairness by all of them. If we boot these immigrants out of our country as you are suggesting, our public hospitals will not be able to function, the attack on these immigrants is short sighted and unfair. As Alan Kohler has identified, the housing crises problems started during the Howard / Costello era and the problem could be solved if State Governments' did as they did in the sixty's and took back housing from the private sector and Build Baby Build. Public housing is beyond Dutton and the short sighted LNP.

      2. Your arguments are mute because we've managed in the past without them.
      3. The actual reason for the recent unprecedented number of migrants is due to our debt based monetary system requiring more people to become debtors in order for the system to keep expanding as it needs to in order to not collapse.
      4. Ethnically and cultural homogeneity is significantly better than the disconnected ethnic ghettos of unassimilated peoples from the 2nd/3rd world that are currently arriving.
