Nathan - You might try cleaning with a tooth brush, be sure not to use on yourself... LOL, to kill the mold build up clean the end of the tube with bleach even use a small cup filled with bleach to soap the tip of the hose. This will keep the tip from getting stuck shut with the mold. I agree a better method might be to extend the drain tube to drain below the unit to the ground. This might explain the reason the particle board is rotted out in the area.

Ahh great idea! And ya no kidding that rot IS right next to the drain tube and res, makes sense
