Thats interesting, I have the A5X and not sure if I'll be able to afford the A4X2 which I really want, ponder purchasing the A5X2 because of the additional storage you can add to it, and ability to change the components which speak of longevity.
Glad you did this video. I have the rM (2020), A5X (2022), and the A6X2 (2024). I absolutely love my nomad and can’t wait for the A5X2 Crystal version. I think after that I will be locked in but I still also love my rM2 and although technically and feature wise it lacks its those very reason why a lot of us love it and I’m still in shock a bit how you acted in that video about it at the end of 2023, so this was refreshing to see that although we all know you are a SN Fan Guy, you are able to share many of the issues individuals are also having with the nomad and SN in general lately that is creating a not so great experience that we all got excited about from Kit, Brandon’s and your videos. You hit the nail on the head and made open my nomad and start writing just by watching this video because I too love it and have been taking advantage of the Kindle app, just wish my nomad would stop freezing up and when it does the on/off button doesn’t even work, or the sidebars don’t work or little bitty things like that. Its not enough to make me abandon it, just like the limitations of the rM2, I want be abandon it either. I’m excited to see the e-ink is catching on and people using the device that best aligns with their use case. As I told Kit, we need less rM2 vs. Supernote videos and video of each feature being use in ones daily life to make impact, grow their productivity and organization. That’s what will really help us.
Regarding stroke disappearance some folks on Facebook mentioned it could be related to an "AI striking" option. If they deactivated it it worked afterwards. I personally don't know I only have an A5X and it doesn't have this option.
Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much Voya! I thought I was going nuts. Between the zoom only working occasionally in MDO to my random strokes disappearing! This was very helpful and has made my use of the device even easier/better! Now I can zoom properly! 🎉 If I could list a few things I can’t stand (Price being a forgone inclusion) I would say: 1. You can’t copy from PDFs to anywhere else. 2. You can’t add your own links in hyperlinked PDFs (I know, it’s asking a lot). 3. Speed!! The state of the tech right now just means you have to often repeat your gestures and that just really gets in the way of my flow. As always, keep it up Voja! Love the videos. They always help my productivity and creativity. May we all: Stay safe! Stay well!
I also had the experience with the disappearing lines, but I have the impression that it no longer occurs so often since the last update. What drives me crazy, however, is the irregular latency with individual actions, e.g. if you want to add a new page by swiping to the left, nothing happens. But if you repeat the gesture, you sometimes have 2 or more new pages because it has registered them. It is even worse if you want to delete a page, then the dialog sometimes does not react at all, but if you click on Delete twice because you think you have not hit it correctly, then 2 pages are deleted and you have no undo. Last but not least, the delete gesture doesn't really work reliably for me either on the bar or on the display only every 3rd time or so.
The disappearing script seems to be due to the software - it also happens on the A5x with the latest update. Also, when using the region erase,r part of the trace of the pen stroke remains. it disappears with a refresh.
I just ordered mine a few Days ago, still waiting on it. I love so many of the features I have seen in reviews. One thing I don’t believe it has is shape recognition? I would really love it all the more if it did. I hope I’m wrong on that.
for me its almost perfect. the only thing its missing is the calender can't sync subscription calenders...other than that its freaking awesome. expensive though since i live in a place where the import tax is like 20% ;-; but yeah
I am still learning my way around the Supernote Nomad. I like it a lot, but so far the two aspects I like the least about it are: 1. No zoom in pdf Landscape mode. This means that reading PDF on the Nomad is really challenging (as the fonts are still small even in landscape mode) and accordingly the function of noting on pdf articles, books, etc. is seriously undermined. 2. Reading Word documents on the Nomad is a pleasure but trying to edit them seems a very challenging task, at least as my knowledge goes. It is very slow and the functions are very basic.
You’re spot on with your critiques. I have really enjoyed my A6X and now A6X2 Nomad, but these are definite weaknesses. Price isn’t too bad for those of us in the U.S., as shipping is now free. My top 5 favorites are (not in specific order): 1. Size/portability 2. Focused design/purpose (no distractions!) 3. Noticeably snappier than A6X. 4. Ceramic nib that doesn’t need replacing 5. Repairability/longevity My top 5 dislikes (in no specific order): 1. Occasional system lag. I notice this when I’m using Kindle app and when trying to add a new page to a note 2. The writing disappearance that occasionally happens 3. The clear back looks great and is overall nice, but it will scratch easily (hence the warning card they include in the package) 4. No device encryption or fingerprint reader. I’d happily pay more for these features. 5. Screen often won’t register my first touch on something.
What about the user agreement- have you read it? Is there anything in the user agreement that is of concern to you? Please let me know if I am the only person that is curious about this.
I sold my A5X and have an A6X2 on order. I am living with a Kindle Scribe at the moment and really missing my Supernote! I ordered the A6X2 Crystal version for its cool factor, but I am worrying a bit about its durability. One of the advantages that many people feel the Supernote has is its more forgiving plastic construction compared to aluminum and glass used by others. I am wondering what clear plastic material Ratta use for the A6X2 because some clear plastics (polystyrene for example) tend to be brittle and can easily be scratched and/or cracked. If the material is polycarbonate then it would be very durable. Another concern is yellowing of the clear plastic due to UV exposure. Do you have any knowledge of the materials used? Have you noticed and scratches or cracks appearing on your A6X2?
Convenience & portability. There’s no point having it if you don’t use it and you can’t use it if you don’t have it with you. As an artist I prefer the larger A5 format, but now that I have the Nomad I’ve found it to be a more useful tool due to its convenience. I take it everywhere and feel comfortable doing so. I have not found the smaller size to be an issue - I quickly became comfortable with it.
E ink devices should ditch pinch to zoom which doesn't favor the technology in favor of a two finger diagonal touch and zoom instantly in the resulting rectangle. You just need two points to draw a zoom area, the pinching isn't strictly necessary. You could add another gesture to undo the zoom I remember some device doing the same thing for highlighting paragraphs with a diagonal line. It's the same concept The only downside I can think of is that smaller screen or denser pdfs would be harder to navigate by precisely marking the two points but that also applies to pinching
Or the device can display a rectangle that would represent the zoomed area, retaining the device's screen aspect ratio. You can use the standard pinch to zoom and panning actions as long as both fingers are in contact with the screen to fine tune and position the zoom reticle. When released, the device zooms in and done. That would be a 100% perfect solution for my needs on these devices.
1. Price 2. Speed/Reaction (mostly Hardware related) 3. Windows and Cloud Integration 4. Development time and availability 5. missing Camera 6. a few more productivity apps 7. better support for external hardware, like better latency with keyboards, headphones for audible, printers.... With the A5x2 I hope for a better batery, a better backpanel solution and obvs. a better size. Could be even more modular like a switchable NVMe e.g.
I have the A5X and am a big find of Supernote, actually using mine a lot. I’d love to get a A6X2 to get a more portable device. But PRICE is what is holding me out. Too expensive, even shipping from France to France is expensive : 30€. This doesn’t make any sense. Next would be pinch to zoom and location of the SD card. I have another point, software (so it should be solved) : the clipboard is not across PDF and notes, so you can’t copy your handwriting from a PDF (like MDG) to a note, which is a pity as I use my planner for occasional notes.
In coming months I am going to upload my lectures on TH-cam but before I do that I need to edit my videos and make many changes in them plz suggest me the Laptop I should go for where I can do all sort of editing since I trust you a lot.@@MyDeepGuide
I'd also like to see this comparison between the A6X2 and A5X, focusing on the advantages and disadvantages of the different sizes, holding while writing, how they fit into bags, etc.. This will be my first device of this type and there isn't anywhere to handle them in stores so I have to buy one blind, either A5X2 or A6X2.
Other than the modularity of changing your own battery, probably not. It has double the memory, but I bought a Nomad specifically for the option to change the battery.
This is my list of thinks I do not like: 1) Cover design; opens easily (does not have magnets to hold in place), then wakes up the device and drains the battery quickly 2) Auto sync (Wifi enabled) drains the battery quickly 3) Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Like this: th-cam.com/video/up6G0tAF0UI/w-d-xo.html and this th-cam.com/video/WR-FynVDVo0/w-d-xo.html 4) Poor customer support: I reported some of my problems 1 months ago, still did not get any useful help. 5) Overpriced: I paid for mine 550 EUR. For the same price you could buy a A5 sized, Boox Note Air 3 C. Which is definitely more value for your money, with better customer support too (I got much better and useful answers from Boox's support team, in a few days).
Sorry to hear about your experience. I got to say that I was completely unable to reproduce either of the 2 WiFi connectivity issues you demonstrated. So that might be an indication that it might be due to your WiFi setup. Something worth looking into, at the very least. As for the Auto-Sync, I agree but for different reasons, something that I have mentioned in my video covering their latest update in general. Thankfully, this is something that will be remedied in the coming update, where users will be able to choose whether or not to use auto-sync and which files to sync and which to not sync. Regarding the customer support, when you say that you didn't get useful help, can you elaborate a bit more? Generally Ratta tends to excel in customer support, so it would be good to hear what kind of difficulties you ran into?
I reached out to Supernote yesterday and asked when A5X2 was coming out. They said at the end of this month or early next month possibly
Thats interesting, I have the A5X and not sure if I'll be able to afford the A4X2 which I really want, ponder purchasing the A5X2 because of the additional storage you can add to it, and ability to change the components which speak of longevity.
well that's a lie
Lest favourite things.

That's... a nightmare
The disappearance of strokes happens for me specifically when the device is unevenly supported, say on one leg. If lying flat it never happens 🤷🏼♂️

My gripe is with the software. It takes several steps to email a note as a pdf. RATTA has advised that this will be addressed but not so far.
I just ordered mine a few

Thanks! It's the old standard Supernote pen.

Could you compare A6X2 vs A5X? Shall I wait for A5X2?
No, as they are devices of a different format, but I will compare it to the A6X, which makes more sense.
