We’re led to believe our society is progressing and improving. But do a side by side comparison of the town today and it’s very hard to believe that is what is happening.
Note that not the same numbers attend remembrance day service . Seems they will be forgotten ??. Left many years ago had many good friends but would never return to live .. South Africa has problems and same in Zimbabwe but made my choice and never regretted coming to Africa .
My Mum is from Oldham and we lived there in the late seventies before moving to Wales. We lived in Sholver and went to Hodge Clough Juniors. My grandparents lived in Derker, Sydenham street and we'd spend our christmas' there. Lots of fond memories of the place and will visit soon as I have cousins still living there. Is Tommyfield market still there?
