Hi Paul, I've been watching your videos for a while. I got into photography about 35 years ago and completely lost interest in it. Your videos are inspiring me, and probably many others, to get back into it. Thank you!
Turning 79 Y/O love black and white or monochrome. I have been carrying an extra point and shoot camera set as such to antique car shows. Black autos with lots of chrome stand out. The K7 monochrome camera looks impressive.
❤ always interesting Paul, thx . the majority of my images are B&W but occasionally an image begs colour . @ eighty years young I no longer travel extensively but this has taught me to seek gems in my local region. really appreciate your site. zen billings in canada
Eventually I found my way after 30 years of photography, Im slow. You are one who inspired me a ton. My new way is large format 5x7 with wet plates. Thank you
Another fascinating video Paul. I can't tell you how much I enjoy what you do. I just bought a Leica Q3 and have a love of B&W photography so I will be booking something up with you later this year. Thanks again. David.
I recently bought an old Canon 600D DSLR and a 50mm f1.8 lens. As I sit here enjoying my morning coffee, I’m feeling a bit apprehensive about heading out to take pictures in Glasgow today. This video was exactly the inspiration I needed. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful video. It reflects exactly what I felt going out with my camera this morning despite coming home with very little. But that very little made it all worthwhile. Many thanks Paul.
Particularly loved the shots of Carlisle - they are of places I walk past every day but have never considered them worth a second look! Nicely captured and edited. Thank you.
Paul, I just stumbled across this video on TH-cam while having breakfast and searching for something interesting to watch meanwhile. Your photos are truly amazing, as a lover of monochrome photography they really speak to me. Awesome work!
I’ve was very fortunate to do Paul’s Street photography workshop in London recently. I learnt so much, especially from the insight he gave into street portraits, in fact the next day I did a local street party, and the majority of images were street portraits … I loved taking them so much and the feedback was overwhelming. In fact I’ve been invited to two weddings and a christening, (sounds like a poor remake!), to do some walk about candids … In short, if you get the opportunity, I highly recommend you do his workshop! Thanks again Paul 😊 📷
Dear Paul, your photos and description of street photography are heartwarming! I can empathize with this very well: with a camera in our hands when we're out on the streets, things around us are happening more visibly. Added to this is the creative peace of mind that arises. Being on the move with attention and mindfulness allows us to understand the world of everyday things as something special. And as things unfold before our senses, we evolve in that process. I have to admit, it would be tempting to do street photography with you and sit in a cafe or pub and talk about what's going on. Maybe sometime... ;-)) Best regards, Dirk
Another very interesting video with sound advice and as usual the photographs to support it. Great story with David as well. Shame that I cannot do the dates of your portrait focused sessions. Thumbs up for starting Saturday workshops btw!
I've been doing street photography for two years and I already have a beautiful collection of photos. Recently I also created a channel here to show my work to the world 😊😁
Sadly, I don’t have the money for a monochrome camera so have to put up with converting to black and white. I have seen a fair few stunning images from photographers who convert to b&w though, although I understand the huge benefits to low light shooting and noise with a monochrome sensor.
I do not have a sweet girlfriend / model in my life or London or a you tube channel , but I do have a new camera... my first in 5 years , Leica SL-3 , and I hope I can get the cool city , cute girl and the channel later.
Paul, love your B&W shots. Question … I have a non-monochrome Q2. I love shooting B&W street. Do you think it’s best that I shoot in color and then convert to B&W in NIK or Lightroom … or just set the camera to monochrome to begin with? Which approach will give me the best options for getting the best B&W results? Thank you for all your fantastic videos. I am in the U.S.
Hi Paul, great channel, great subject, well presented and superb images. While the composition and content of the images is wonderful, so is the processing. Do you have any tip's techniques, or workflow and post processing advice you can share?
Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it. It’s hard for me to explain my processing although to me it’s far from complex. As part of my workshops I do an hour on editing photos. It’s an approach more than some amazing technical skills. One of the things I usually try for is strong blacks and whites.
Thanks Paul for an inspiring video. Also glad to see you introducing Dave Payne and his brief story of his photography. Know you recently moved from Carlisle. Are you still in the Carlisle area, or the move take you closer to London or Edinburgh? Like the introduction of 2-day workshops.
So Manchester is one I want to do. I love it but it’s been so long since I’ve been that I haven’t sorted a route out yet there. So I will be going later this year and planning the workshop out before I release Manchester dates.
@@paulreidphotography Hi Paul, I am a professional photographer from Manchester, we spoke on the phone a few months back regarding platinum palladium printing. I know the place like the back of my hand It's my playground for street photography. So if you plan to come to Manchester I can meet you and help with locations and routes. The offers there, I can drop you an email with my details if you like.
Another good episode Paul, you be careful the Genre Police don't chase you lol. I do streetish then they can't argue. It shows a lack of creativity when people try to put you in a Box. Just like format, it has to be 6x4 4x3 16x9 etc, it's like they have never heard of a decimal point.
Subscribed. Enjoy chanels about photography not related to buffer fps 😅. I have the same likes on photography, but my fineart is not usually done with people. By the way it actually makes sense to be called that way, its done without any other purpose than the author's vision and personal expression. Fits the fineart definition. Also, awsome photos
Your images are stunning and compelling at the same time. I kept stopping the video because they were drawing me in, saying, 'Stop. Linger longer. Take a closer look." That, to me, is a strong indication of powerful photography. I must ask, what is your approach in street photography when shooting individuals. There's the Woman Sitting on the Stairs Smoking or the Long-haired Man with a Purse Dressed in Black Reclining on His Arm as two excellent examples. How do you approach them? As you mentioned, I'd be too timid to ask or afraid they'd "pose" for me. What's your trick? Thanks for sharing your work and your thoughts!
Some of those actually look posed but they’re not. One of my favourite things is when someone notices me taking their photo and look directly at me. That’s when I press the shutter!
Hello I’m in Australia. I’ve just found your channel and I would love to learn from you however obviously logistics of geography are problem. Do you have anything online coming up?

Sounds fantastic!!! Yeah I’ve not used the K3 but I’m sure the image quality would be outstanding!
K7? Which camera?
Sorry I’m thinking of the K3. I’ve edited my reply
