AHA - here we go... was looking out for this. That looked like a brilliant adventure. I've done lots of hiking and wildcamping, including Dartmoor, and in the last year or so I've started fly fishing and managed to catch beautiful, English stream trout, but you have managed to do both of those things that I love and it looks wonderful. Thanks for taking us along. I really want to do this, but did not manage to get myself and my diary sorted this year, but next year I will definitely be doing something very similar. Fantastic! Can't wait to watch Part 2 now...
You and I are one of the same, my friend! I did my first solo camp last year. I got too carried away with fishing, and didn’t want to set up and walk too far away from camp.. so I kept gowing until dark. had an awesome time trying to set up in the dark, in some sketchy creepy woods along side the river Fowey. Luckily I had TH-cam to entertain me in my nylon fortress, otherwise I’d have brought up every horror movie I’d ever seen in my head and had a heart attack 😂
Wow - blue sky on Dartmoor. Not often you see that. How on earth do you manage to wade and cast with that huge bag on your back? Lovely vid. Careful not to dress your tippet with floatant btw.
I had my moments of a few stumbles with the bag unbalancing me, but it was easier than I thought it was going to be. I picked my weekend to have the good weather. A bit bright for fly fishing but nicer to be out in than the Dartmoor rain! Thanks for watching 👍
Hi. I use scierra and each year I send them to diver Dave for repairs and a service. By the end of the season they have plenty of pin holes from the under growth. I find waders make the waking hard work but the ground is very boggy
@@WestCountryAngler i so wish i could but cant as got copd and cant walk more than about 30 metres at mo, but watching your videos while am staying in postbridge is the next best thing so many thanks.
I’m sorry to hear that Ian but you are in a beautiful place. I have invested many hours into my soul by just sitting by a river and watching it change by the minute. 😀
I’ve just come back from fishing Cherrybrook on Dartmoor. So far the East Dart is my favourite. Which river are you going to fish and do you have an area in mind?
West Country Angler have been watching your two videos and tracking you on an OS map. We have 2&1/2 days so, weather willing, will probably focus on the East Dart

Thanks for watching. I’m editing part 2. Trying to get 5 hours of film down to something watchable 😀
Thanks, enjoyed that.
Thanks Jon. The river above this part is much better imo. Or is that because I caught more I prefer it?
Really enjoyed this. Very well put together.
Thanks James
Great vid dude
Cheers. Now watch part 2! 😀. You’re tempted aren’t you! Ha ha. Don’t forget to subscribe 😉

Hi Josh. Thanks for watching my film, I appreciate every view. I'm glad I'm not the only one with an overactive imagination!

West Country Angler I seem to stumble more each year and that’s without a bag!
😂 I nearly went over today but I blame high winds and a being attached to a 7 month old lab whilst throwing lures!
Hy. Enjoy your vids and planning to do a little on Dartmoor myself next year. Never waded before, what waders do you recommend. Cheers.

Hi Ian. Yes it is. You can walk up the East Dart from Postbridge to the waterfall on the East Dart

@@WestCountryAngler 'I have invested many hours into my soul by just sitting by a river and watching it change by the minute'...what a beautiful quote
Hey can I ask how much is it to fish in Dartmoor? Because on top of the £12 one day license it's making it hard to get into fishing sadly
Hi Mustuhh. Dartmoor is £12 per day but there is cheaper fly fishing available from various clubs that operate.
Did you stay on the dry file all the time or try a small nymph at all?
Hi Robert. Just the dry fly. I’m not against using a nymph but I prefer to use the dry fly as much as possible
West Country Angler super, thanks, weather willing we’ll be there for a few days later this month before the end of the season.
