The problem with them isnt that they are characters. It's that sometimes they cant turn it off and lock in. Like Quangle and McNulty are also characters and can joke around and be super light hearted with crims but when shots pop off or when a chase happens that something serious just happened with they take it seriously. Bobby and Carmine just cant read the room at times. Just because they want to always joke doesnt mean the cops ANNNNND the crim sometimes want the scene to have stakes.

Getting fired for trying to have your boss held accountable is wild. In some states that would be illegal for retaliation. In ohio it's legal because it's a right to work state but other states that's super illegal.
