Best interview yet! Sam Coffey sparkles throughout, and shows great intellect and awareness. So many athletes give platitude-ridden rote answers whereas Ms. Coffey show you her soul.

Enjoyed this interview a great deal. Have to say, I believe that The Tower of Power, Sammy Mewis, is one of the most effective and giving interviewers in the media. Her conversational, gentle, but probing questions bring out the passion of those interviewed. Sam Coffey met each question with a real thoughtfulness and lively good humor. BOTH the Sams speak knowledgeably, intelligently, kindly, hilariously, and sometimes, painfully, about their lives in/around the pitch. It's a joy to regularly listen to Sam (and Lynn and Becky and occasionally Rog) on this Amazing Pod, THE WOMEN'S GAME. Kudos to all involved!

What a fantastic interview. I'd not heard more than a soundbite or two from Sam Coffey. This interview was a perfect showcase companion to the role and responsibilities she plays on both teams by letting us know what a stellar person and teammate she is through her own words. Thank you both Sams!!!

I didn't know much about Sam Coffey prior to this interview besides the fact that she tucked her jersey in. She just gained a new fan! She articulated herself so well and she seems so humble. Her smile and positive energy are so contagious! It's shocking that she's played this position for only a few years - her playing style is timeless.

Sam has quickly become one of my absolute faves over this past year,, she really plays with conviction and her presence in that midfield keeps us solid… hearing her shine on this interview + her humble nature and of course the gratitude she expresses has brought a whole new level of appreciation for her. Thanks for making this happen Sam!❤🙏🏼

Wow!!!!! 🤩 Where do I even begin?!?!?!!? lol This interview was by far my most favourite yet.. and I am Canadian.. and... I and am including all of your Canuck interviews!!! Sam... I adore your wholesome... and positive... and elevating interview style. You just keep getting better with each interview. Elevating the sport of the wonderful and talented women athletes! Kudos to you for getting it right!!!!!☺👏 I want to tell you the reason I enjoyed the interview soooo very much. I always respected Sam's talent as a player.. but never truly knew who she was as a person. This interview really showcased what a truly remarkable person and athlete Sam Coffey is in the game!!!! I have a new found love and respect for her as a player and a human being! Then to hear her wax poetic about her love of the game .. the teams she plays for and her adoration for her fellow team mates in the game.... annnnd the leaders who she works so hard for made my heart swell. Then she had me sitting here choking back tears and a huge lump in my throat when she spoke of what it meant to her to play for Emma and country.. and then she put the dagger in my heart.. and the flood gates opened.. and tears spilled over when she shared what Christine has meant to her and the game.. and women's sports! I wanted to give Sam the biggest hug for the flowers that she gave Christine in this interview!! It was truly so warm .. genuine .. caring.. sweet and selfless the way she spoke about Christine and her career!!!!! 😭🥰 I want to thank both of you "Sams" for making my day/week with sharing such an amazing conversation with all of us. You are both so positive and pro-women.. that it's so inspiring to hear you both share your views with the public. We are ALL so much better for having heard this episode of the podcast! Wishing you both so much more success in your endeavors! Cheers and congrats from Ontario, Canada!!! ⚽ ☺🍁 P.S. I hope Portland make it to the playoffs!!!!!!!! 😍

Great interview of Sam,Sam! lol I have to admit, I didn't know much of Sam until she started getting the call-ups. One of our underrated players on the WNT. Always a bright sun on the team with her smile. Love listening to her! Thanks Sammy!

Yay! Been looking forward to a Sam Coffey appearance on the podcast. Her smile is so contagious, as is her energy.
It's really wonderful listening to and seeing how incredibly intelligent and well spoken all these amazing women's football players are.
She did a perfect job in explaining the 'aura' around the USWNT and being a part of its history and future.
I'm the same in that I'd also be quite content living in the woods and owning a coffee shop (being a coffee shop journalist), or living in a sailboat.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend 💚

just watched this on my way home from the Gotham/Portland playoff game. I already loved Sam Coffey before this but dang, I was so moved by her comments about humility, entitlement, gratitude, and the painful realities of injury and uncertainty. she seems like a really grounded, generous person and player. this Samx2 ep is easily one of my faves, and I hope one day they open a coffee / soccer / journalism spot together called Sams’ Coffey. thank you for the wonderful and thoughtful convo as always!!

Great interview! I am so happy knowing that Sam Coffey is representing our country and being such an incredible role model for our girls. When I started a soccer club in 1986, I hoped that soccer would grow and that some day we would have a National Team to be proud of. You (all of you) have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

I love how open and comfortable Coffey is with Sam, goes to show how much the players she didn’t even get to be around very much still respect her experience and want to share theirs with her. I love her insights of the six position as well, truly an unsung position.

am curious as to Emma's tactics and how they are applied these last couple games - I noticed a lot of attention to passing by most players from back of center into opponents center and out less to mid wings to forwards but the passing got my attention - complained to my self while watching about the "I WANNA DO IT MYSELF APPROACH" STILL some individuals like the idea of 1 on 2 or 3 defensive players and of course a turn over Dunn WENT from that to being a great passer any who will it be taken to another level it will be both a defensive help as well as a scoring help!!!!

Coffey definitely is a baller! But have to disagree with the Vladko take. He is a great coach, but I’m certain there were moves being made behind the scenes forcing his hand to play certain players. For the good of history, I would really love to hear from his own words some day. But yes, Sam is a beast! Love watching her play!!!

@@kristiannelson1851lmao Vlatko is a terrible, terrible international coach and the domestic league players are good enough despite him. Every single NWSL team he’s coached was good before he got there. People absolutely refuse to admit the sometimes men are just not good at their jobs and it really is their fault 🙄
