The specs and a lot of the tech in the Cybertruck is incredible! Great industry progression and a great way to challenge the average styling of trucks in my opinion. However, if other manufacturers start to follow this styling idea, I wouldn’t be too happy
What specs are incredible other than the 0-60, which is just about the least useful spec for a truck? It gets less range than the competitors electric trucks. The base model tows less than a Colorado, a midsized truck. The top of the line only equals a Rivian in towing, which was never intended to be a work truck. ICE Silverado and F150 trucks that are half the price beat it in towing and HD trucks totally dominate it.
Most of the price "increase" isn't a real increase, it's inflation. Ranges a bit disappointing initially but will increase with newer higher energy density batts.

@@TroySavaryA huge drawback of trucks is fuel economy and operating costs. Here, you have no gas, oils changes, transmissions service, coolant service, etc.
From an engineering and technological standpoint, this thing is absolutely incredible! Very impressive what they’ve been able to create and I applaud that. I also understand making it look so different so that it’s dramatic and completely different from anything we’ve seen before - in the sense of recognizability, it’s an incredible design! Visually, on a personal level, I find it incredibly ugly and think this would’ve been a great internal project to develop technology but not a production vehicle. It’s very much like brutalist architecture and I can’t stand that philosophy. Beautiful design and emotion is far more important to me in car design than engineering even despite how impressive this vehicle is. Those are my thoughts. Lol
I don't get what's so incredible from an engineering standpoint? Unibody design? Seeing the understructure in the production photos seems not very uncommon. The panel pressing operation? Not so special in comparison to some crazy stuff like some Peugeot/Citroën aluminium rear control arms. The drive units are pretty much standard, steer by wire, Infinity Q50, Toyota bZ4X got it too, Mercedes introduced it in the F200 in 1992, parametric steering was available in the 1993 S-Class too. Suspension is standard. The use of 3X stainless steel is also not very innovative, it's kitchen sink material, not bad, but not a marvel. As an automotive engineer, I see a bunch of interesting design choices, but nothing that is all too uncommon.
@@Brazzelkanal well then you have a higher than average understanding of what goes into these things if you’re an automotive engineer… most people are not. @The1SSGrant Yes, I get the point. But listening to the marketing yadda yadda makes me feel a bit... fooled, because everything is praised being innovative, but there is hardly any real innovation in it. But I have to admit, producing these panels as flat as they are is not an easy feat. Especially hiding the spot weld deformation after adding the panel reinforcements to prevent buckling. If it is spot welding at all, it might be glued on. But this is done in Audis for at least 17 years as well, in their case to bond aluminium to steel. Mercedes invented a new way to weld an aluminium roof on a steel body with lasers on the past C-Class, that's crazy stuff, but nobody cared, because it's an old boring company. 😅 I am not negative about the fuzz around the Cybertruck, I just don't get it 🤔 But I know the marketing people in our company, they really like to tell "stories" as they call it 😂
@@G82Watts yo I didn’t say that it looks good 😂 I think it’s absolutely ugly as I mentioned in my original comment. Props to the folks at Tesla. The 48V architecture and steering by wire are fantastic. My only concerns are the massive front and rear subframes. While it is a feat of engineering, it’s going to be hell on repairs (basically it will have to be totaled) and I’m curious what the insurance costs will be.
Same with any structural subframe! If it's been hit hard enough to damage those, you've been in a VERY bad wreck and it's totaled anyway. Airbags deployed, major crash damage.
12V is standard for the industry. = cheap spareparts. 48V is a expensive idea for the consumer that will have to open his wallet. Making up own standards is just dumb. Steer by wire is just an extra thing to break. It has no benefits to the driver. Changing mechanical solutions to electronic ones are usually notworking out well. Removing the physical contact between the steeringwheel and the tires is a terrible idea that is going to get people killed.
I'm not fully onboard the EV bandwagon yet, However this truck is just amazing It's literally the definition of the future. All those old sci-fi movies where we were like "what's the future going to look like". This is literally it! I will definitely order one if it comes to my country Au.

If the special equipment and material required to make Cybertruck is amortized over the 2 million pre-orders, then factor in the reduced labor costs with the new "bench assembly" method - it's estimated the cost to produce each of the first 2 million trucks is $25k. Sold for $45k it would wipe out the pick up market. Elon repeatedly states he does NOT want to eliminate others - so that sets prices. He is demonstrating what is needed in Time (10 years) and initial investments ($2 Billion) to make profitable EVs.
minimalist, even interior, not only saves money and makes this truck affordable for what you are getting... the steel, steering, voltage innovations alone make the price a deal for all this first off

It resembles the cockpit of an F22 on wheels. Fighter jet meets Delorean, that's why I want one! The tech packaged into this machine is worth the price.
What is interesting is how much people clowned the Honda Ridgeline for a similar take on design so much that they ended up going to a traditional design and now Tesla seems to be running with the idea.
4 years (2019). Disappointed by range and lower payload, but glad it’s finally in production. At least they have a range extender but I wish it was sub-bed instead of taking up bed storage when camping etc.
So build a lightweight sleeping platform on top of the battery and use the area underneath the platform for storage. A bed tent provides a lot of headroom. Many people who camp, off-road or do over-landing, use folding tents on bed racks so their truck bed can be used for camping gear. It's a good way to use your bed space efficiently.
The Cybertruck looks so uncomfortable. Everything about it says sharp edges and cold metal. I hope it doesn't influence other manufacturers at all, that would be terrible for the car industry.
I wonder how the low beam vs high beam works on those headlights since they're so low and so thin. Also i can't wait to what kind of aftermarket parts come out for this thing
From what I understand the headlights are like lazer matrix which can pin point where to have lights and where not, so in theory high/low beam just means not light some area in the light.
Bring up an on-line inflation calculator: $40,000 base Cybertruck in 2018 would be $49,000 today. So almost 1/2 of the base price increase is inflation. Then consider that Tesla historically drops prices after production has ramped. A lot of R&D went into this truck, and I expect the real beneficiaries will be owners of the low cost car currently in development. Just as the real beneficiaries of the Model S R&D are the Model 3 / Model Y owners.
I was a landscape/ construction foreman for a long time, and we built huge, top notch projects, all over the state. For guys like us, 440 miles of range just wouldn't cut it! Especially when you consider were towing a gooseneck trailer with a front end loader or similar..... and we have lots of electric tools we're gonna want to run all day... So I'd really really like to see an option of buying stackable lithium batteries you can put in the bed and on trailer to extend the range out to 600 miles plus charging. That would probably make the difference as to whether or not we'd have purchased. Now I work in Healthcare, but I'm just saying. 440 will be a deal breaker for a lot of contractors who need to go to job sites that are an hour and a half away, which was the norm for pretty much every landscape, construction, especially maintenance vehicles, which maintenence are the most common, and you're driving to 5 job sites from orange county to long Beach to Newport, to back because a customer needed something. Need max range!
You're talking about a heavy-duty truck, not an F150 competitor, but an F250 and up, when you're talking about those kinds of loads. This ain't intended for all that.
The construction process is so interesting and a possible game changer. I'm hoping for a future Van an entry level commuter car and a Mustang type car with this type of design
People always say “low poly” and totally forget about the beauty of crystals. It’s crystalline. How is it not beautiful? Proportions are great, materials are great. It’s iconic. An f150 has absolutely no beauty in it, not like the trucks of the 50s and 60s.
440 is the rang with extension pack. I think. Cyber Truck written with a welder looks sick. Nice touch. The specs are from some other planet. Fly by wire steering, 17” ground clearance along the entire bottom. Loads of storage super tuff. Pretty amazing machine in my opinion.

@@beautyisontheinside Nonsense. I makes little sense other than that they said they would. Gen 3 platform is and should be the focus in coming yrs, along with CT and semi.
You are totally missing the point. The looks of a vehicle are incredibly important. This truck is not just different but it's arguably Tesla's most perfect design. In 100 years this will be remembered as a major turning point and the signature vehicle for everything that comes after it. Franz is a true artist and the Cybertruck is a work of art. I'm blown away, despite the lack of the integrated tailgate ramp and rear squat. Presumably the rear wheel steering prevented that feature from coming to fruition which is a big disappointment for me. However it was a brave decision to roll with this and Elon deserves all the accolades for taking the chance. Less than five years despite covid. Unique.

The Cybertruck follows the Brutalist design philosophy. Brutalism is derived from Breton Brut, meaning raw concrete in French. The design philosophy embodies that origin through simple and in-your-face shapes and forms and unpainted yet smooth finishes. Brutalist designs aren't the prettiest in the world but they do stick out and really break their surroundings with their presence. The Cybertruck is doing just that with its design. I quite like it. It's a different spin on a truck and it looks capable as hell. I want one
Base will enter production 2025 but I'm not sure they will make many. There is a big step down from Mid to Base, far more than the small step up from Mid to Beast. Phillip.
It's 4 years since its announcement, and they had to build a new factory for it which finished in 2022, plus we had a global pandemic on top of that. Also, let's not forget that they are still restricted from battery cells, and they had to prioritize the Model Y's production which is the best selling vehicle on the planet (including ICE). Every other company would have needed at least 5-7 years on top of what Tesla took, if they were even able to make a beast like the CT in the first place (which they can't).
you need a large engine for a pickup so they have had the same design for years because it made sense. With electric motors that has changed there is no longer a need for a long nose.
Except the nose is just as long. They just hid it under the rediculously long windshield, ruining the ability to see properly due to the enormous A pillars.
One thing I love and would like to get one Cybertruck myself is if buy car base on its design nowadays is like buying mainly for the lamps designs because most car looks nearly the same within the typical proportion of its class and only now Cybertruck looks like not a typical template car that looks not much different to each other on road from a distance and you buy it for that design and also it's lamps designs! But can you make the back wall between backseat and truck passthrough so you can lay down and sleep in the car? But it is scary in it for that because if the software goes wrong what if the retracting truck cover go down and cut or damage your legs while you sleeping?
I like the look. Maybe just because it is so different. Trucks have looked the same for decades. My biggest concern is the lack of buttons for basic things like the glovebox. Touch screens with gloves suck. More of a mild irritant. The exterior seems great, I just hope the chassis doesn’t bend easy.
I think Tesla knows that the Cybertruck is weird and not many people will call it “beautiful”, but its a perfect Halo car for the company, and in my opinion they did a great job
Honestly, I like the cybertruck as a design, for some reason I like bricks and blocks so, a reason I like older trucks too. If Tesla just made the bed flat versus the steep ass angle, I would genuniely have no major problems with it. A truck bed should be easily accessible and utilitarian, you can't exactly strap down to your wheel wells or tie downs evenly with that steep grade. I could 100% get behind the angular and blocky design if it had the standard rectangular bed. A 6' bed is good enough for a truck. My 01 Ram has a 6'5, drop the gate and you can have 8'. Seeing as most 4 door trucks today have a 5'5/6'' bed due to cab sizes, I can be satisfied with 6'. My dad's new Tacoma has a 6' bed and it's pretty good. I know making the bed flat would counteract Bembli's idea of "getting away from the standard" but, I'm sure most people agree that if it was a flat space they'd have a better opinion on it as a TRUCK and not a vehicle.
i think people are mistaking shocking/different design for good design here. after these become more common to see on the road the shock value will wear off. its not "bad" design but its definitely not beautiful or stimulating to look at. this reminds me of "futuristic" product designs from past decades that just look out of proportion and unnecessarily abstract today. i think years from now this will be seen from a design stand point similar to how we see the plymouth prowler now.
I think this minimalist brutalism is definitely a work of art. Modern art isn't appreciated either but if you take into account that they were trying to achieve something original it is groundbreaking.
I think the instrument cluster screen on the S and X are there just because of the legacy design. New vehicles will probably not have that screen because they want to be so minimal.
I feel it doesn’t look stylish, it looks like straight out of a war zone, a vehicle you would use in a war or in the apocalypse lol, but it’s not bad .
If you ever want Tesla to get you a car to review, i suggest for your next video you review whats IN the car and what it can do as opposed to how it looks. The 48 Volt architecture is a game changer in the auto industry. Cybertruck requires 1/4 the wiring that any other car this big would need because of it. The Steer by Wire is a first for a mass produced car as well. There is NO physical connection from the steering wheel to the tires. at low speeds it can corner like a go kart, and on highways the tires turns together to change lanes smoothly. There is SO much new tech in this thing it boggles the mind.
You are so right with the idea that tesla influences other manufacturers. I am highly sure that the ipad interior trend originated from tesla, and look how its become a theme for automotives
I am pretty sure there are many people who forgot they put a deposit for the truck and went "oh, when did i put that?" When they get notification on their phone. And i wonder how many still want it and how many has already bought another truck and how many were doesn't have the money now.
It looks straight out of an 80's sci-fi movie, and the bare shiny steel resembles the style of retro heavy metal album covers. It's pure apocalyptic badassery.

It's polarizing, "half" love it other half hate it but 'everyone' agrees it looks far better in person.
It looks ridiculous but the design is so wild i just gotta respect that they followed thru. Waiting to see if it's a hit or not
It IS a hit, has been since unveiling, 2M preorders and most folks don't even know about it yet.
I saw a news article with people not in the car loop and every single 400 comments where straight clowning it. It's going to be getting pics for all the wrong reasons once they are on the streets. And at only 60k I'm sure there will be alot of little tesla and apple watch personalities in them
The specs and a lot of the tech in the Cybertruck is incredible! Great industry progression and a great way to challenge the average styling of trucks in my opinion.
However, if other manufacturers start to follow this styling idea, I wouldn’t be too happy
I don’t think they would try to copy it as they would just look silly.
What specs are incredible other than the 0-60, which is just about the least useful spec for a truck? It gets less range than the competitors electric trucks. The base model tows less than a Colorado, a midsized truck. The top of the line only equals a Rivian in towing, which was never intended to be a work truck. ICE Silverado and F150 trucks that are half the price beat it in towing and HD trucks totally dominate it.
the promised specs or actual specs
@EnriqueThiele So you are claiming cars from the past are more futuristic than cars from today?
they should cut hight and lenght by 1/3 and make it a 2 seat roadster
Most of the price "increase" isn't a real increase, it's inflation.
Ranges a bit disappointing initially but will increase with newer higher energy density batts.

Yes! There was one at the reveal event that was wrapped in matte black. That looked amazing! As shown in this video at 8:50.
Hummer ev looks even better in black and with after market rims. Isn't even close. Only tesla and apple watch beta males disagree. Hummer has more range, higher payload towing, and better for offroading. Also 3 sec in 0-60 while weighing 9,600 lbs.
What specs are great in the Cybertruck other than 0-60? It trails other pickups in every spec that matters.
To someone who doesn’t know all that, it definitely looks impressive from a technological standpoint. @@The1SSGrantbro how? Exterior wise it looks bland af no interesting cuts or lines. I could of designed it in 2nd grade. Interior wise it's a single iPad and steering wheel. It's as plan Jane as u can get. Elon was just able to make it work because tesla fans seems to think anything he makes is the future. Have u seen the audi actisphere? THAT IS THE FUTURE. Even the hummer ev is way better looking espicially in black or orange. Higher payload towing, more RANGE, better offroading with extract mode, and better interior. It does everything a truck is for better. While also weighing 9,600 lbs and going 0-60 in 3 Seconds. 😂 unless u get the beast mode cyber truck its not even close to as good.
I am not negative about the fuzz around the Cybertruck, I just don't get it 🤔
But I know the marketing people in our company, they really like to tell "stories" as they call it 😂
@@G82Watts yo I didn’t say that it looks good 😂 I think it’s absolutely ugly as I mentioned in my original comment. My point was that nothing looks like it and it’s made out of stainless steel so it is new in that sense and there isn’t another production vehicle made out of stainless steel…. and a lot of people may associate that alone with being more advanced in most ways. I’m not saying they would be correct to think so just that it’s true many people believe that. Personally, I hate the thing lol. From what I listened to in the top gear interview, it sounds like they did make some progress in tooling and actually being able to bring a product like this to market and that’s what I was acknowledging. As a whole, I am not a fan of Tesla vehicles and definitely am not interested in buying the cybertruck.

Props to the folks at Tesla. The 48V architecture and steering by wire are fantastic. My only concerns are the massive front and rear subframes. While it is a feat of engineering, it’s going to be hell on repairs (basically it will have to be totaled) and I’m curious what the insurance costs will be.
Like snap-off razor blades, the subframe is designed to be cut at certain points and replace that portion only
Same with any structural subframe! If it's been hit hard enough to damage those, you've been in a VERY bad wreck and it's totaled anyway. Airbags deployed, major crash damage.
Never heard of steering by wire being "fantastic"
12V is standard for the industry. = cheap spareparts. 48V is a expensive idea for the consumer that will have to open his wallet. Making up own standards is just dumb.
Steer by wire is just an extra thing to break. It has no benefits to the driver. Changing mechanical solutions to electronic ones are usually notworking out well. Removing the physical contact between the steeringwheel and the tires is a terrible idea that is going to get people killed.

The cybertruck Basecamp tent accessory sits on top of the storage bed so it's still usable

I believe the implementation of the Lamborghini countach/ Alfa carabo design language into a truck is a real master’s truck of automotive art.
Nah, let's not kid ourselves. It's ugly.
Tesla yet again proving that just because you can, doesn’t mean you should..
you need a large engine for a pickup so they have had the same design for years because it made sense. With electric motors that has changed there is no longer a need for a long nose.
Except the nose is just as long. They just hid it under the rediculously long windshield, ruining the ability to see properly due to the enormous A pillars.
I wonder how much it costs to charge that thing
omg the offroad camper at 7:51 is my dream setup.
The Chevy Lumina of pick-up trucks , ...
Im pretty sure I saw one at the terraforming colony on LV-426.
Holy crap...they actually did that CRAP!
The Cybercrap.
I think Tesla knows that the Cybertruck is weird and not many people will call it “beautiful”, but its a perfect Halo car for the company, and in my opinion they did a great job
The Cybertruck looks like a mini-rover version of the transport vehicle in Aliens 2. The perfect vehicle for artist and computer techs alike.
I'm really glad they stayed original. Love it or hate it, it's unique and it's obvious they tried something.
I think this minimalist brutalism is definitely a work of art. Modern art isn't appreciated either but if you take into account that they were trying to achieve something original it is groundbreaking.
I don't do this for a living or anything, but I strongly suggest that you put the words Elon Muck, Tesla, and Cybertruck in your title.
I think the instrument cluster screen on the S and X are there just because of the legacy design. New vehicles will probably not have that screen because they want to be so minimal.
