Nothing compares to the pure Aesthetics of the 68 Charger in my humble opinion. The Mopars really had the coolest looks and the baddest power trains! This particular charger is so incredibly beautiful I can feel fear just looking at it because it's so perfect you're afraid to even walk around it thinking what if I accidentally trip and scratch it or something it's insane this restoration just how good it is I can't imagine being there in person in viewing it it just looks too good to be true! I've seen a lot of chargers in my time I own the 69 but it was a rust bucket 40 years ago I should have never sold it. I couldn't even afford to bumper on it now LOL.

Thanks Lou for another stroll down memory lane. The guy three houses down had a '70 Hemi Orange R/T when I was around 9...The early 70's truly was the Muscle Car era. The guy next door had a GTO convertible that I accidently scratched (Sorry Lenny) and my best friends mom drove a 442 - my mom drove a Falcon Lol...Seeing these old rides brought back to their glory days, especially on the street, always puts a smile on my face, transporting me back to a different time and place when American Iron ruled the road...

Bullit was a 1968 charger,da shark,a behind the scenes with the directed he said the 383 four speed car needed nothing done to it to do the stunt in the show....and that's a nice complement to dodge for building a performance car with strong spring rates like a race car...I alway thought my E body's handled great for old cars with nothing done to them either.piece

Thanks Lou! Please keep the Mopars coming. I was born in 1968 and my dad always drove a Plymouth. My neighbor had a 69 Plymouth Road Runner when I was a kid and from the minute I saw it I fell in love with it. In high school I drove a 69 Satellite, 72 Challenger and I found a 76 or 77 (I forget) retired Rhode Island State Police car with the 440 Interceptor. I drive a 2016 Ram 1500 4x4 now and it has an old Road Runner horn in it. Your videos bring me back to great days. Thanks!

@@loucostabile Hi Lou, thank very much you for your reply! I didn't think I would get a response since the post is a few years old. In this respect, I have a question: most Dodge Charger have modified engines and exhaust systems. And are therefore very loud. Good for young people. Me - a bit older - and my tinitus are rather annoyed by that lound sound. ;) This engine seems very original to me. How original do you feel the sound and the volume of the car? Thanks for the answer. Cheers, Bernie

So this guy has this '68, then in the background, there is what looks like a '70 Roadrunner in yellow. Then on the other side of the driveway, he's got what looks to be a '68 or 9 GTX. If that where not enough, there is a Hellcat as well. Man how would it be, I can only afford an SRT Challenger, and that was not exactly cheep

@@loucostabile I'll stay tuned, and hey, it's a free world (mostly) and people are allowed to restore cars to concourse quality and then not drive them.... But to me and many others, this is a useless exercise. It's a car and one thing it is meant to do, is to be driven and enjoyed. I don't understand a car guy who gets enjoyment out of simply looking at his car and the trophies he won and not driving it... just pointless. When all is said and done, no one gives a rats arse about trophies.

Very nice 68 Hemi Charger. But I'm going to nitpick 2 things here.
    1. Pause it at 1:50, what's going on with the vinyl top? The area right above the "C" in the Charger script.
    2. Pause it at 5:33, what's going on with the rear console area? Looks defected.
He's winning the top prize with defects like that? For sure as shit if my entry had those defects they throw their noses in the air and shun me. What a blow hard. Drive the DAMN THING!!!!

Nice hemi Charger. My first car in high school was a 69 Charger. I bought it used, with yellow paint and black vinyl top, 383 torqueflight. I had American racing flower mags on four wheels. I drove that car until about 1979 when the freezeplugs in the engine started leaking coolant, then I sold it, wish I had kept it. I always dreamed of dropping a hemi in it but never had the money to do that. I had the Mopar Direct Connection catalog, I think it was called, had all the parts I needed to do the job. Beautiful car. I never saw an original hemi Charger. I am surprised to see a tachometer with an automatic transmission. Was that the original design?

    • @loucostabile

This is an older story although it is the first time I've seen it. At the beginning of the video the owner said it was highly optioned. I wish you had followed up on that. Having said that it didn't have power windows or seats. No air conditioning but that isn't unusual in a hemi car. I think he said it had power brakes but did it have front disc brakes? How about a posi rear end. Other than the paint what did the restoration consist of?
